I use the shimmer paints as a glaze over watercolor on paintings of birds. Especially the ones whose feathers are also color-changing from different angles.
Hi Emma! I paint full sized Canadian Arctic landscapes. I like to use a bit of glitter paints for water reflections, snow and night scenes (especially the Northern Lights). I also use glitter paints for card making. My favourite brand of glitter and colourshift paint is Iuile.
I second this! I have never tried the brand she mentions in this video but I absolutely will. I am however obsessed with iuile watercolors, they are incredible!
I love the sparkly watercolors! I also love the things you painted! I went and bought some gold paint from her! Would have bought 3 but each paint was charged a shipping charge and it costs more for that than for the paints, so I removed two of them. I like ordering from someone that is self employed, but not when I am taken advantage of! Because they are all shipped together! Thank you for your beautiful art! 💖🌟🌹
Can you please let me know which sets you were trying to purchase? My shipping cost is set up so that there is no charge for additional items. Is it possible that you accidentally added something from another shop? If you could please let me know which items you were trying to buy, that would be most helpful. Thank you 🙂
@@mabartstudio7916 OK, I found out that Etsy had changed from your site to someone else’s site, and the gold I ordered came from that site. Went back after reading this and ordered another that I had in my basket, which was yours! But there was only a quarter pan available.😞but I went ahead and bought it! Thanks! I wish Etsy would not do that to the customers!!! 💖🌟🌹
I tend to use them more often during the holidays when making cards and on black watercolor paper. My favorites are the Iuile. The ones you showed are also beautiful.
When I was totally new to watercolor, I experimented with these for fun!!! Then a bit also with Christmas tags and black paper came out ahead! These are brighter than mine were... I resorted to glitter gel pens for the Christmas tree decorations 😂 FUN!!! Thanks, Emma!!!
I love all things sparkles. I love to add beads to my painting, glitters & sparkles painting. I use my sparkly watercolor for highlights & mostly splatters. These paints look amazing. I'll have to check her website. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful paints. I’d love to see a video explaining how you did the lightening strike image and how you make that effect exactly. It looked so cool I’d love to learn how to do that that effectively.
Great video Emma! I add metallics to all kinds of pieces, I especially like them for moonlight effects, snow, and all kinds of holiday designs on black paper! I’ve never heard of this Etsy shop but I’ll definitely check them out! I’m currently doing a deep dive on all things metallic watercolor and rating them as I go - it’s been a really fun process!
Great job showcasing the swatches! I appreciated you took your time, slowly bending and angling the paper so we could see all the effects. Really fun painting ideas too! I especially liked the leaves 😊 🍁
I do a lot of character design so I add shimmers to eyes, metal, jewels or certain clothing details when I color characters in. I also add iridescence when I do birds and butterflies or the stamen of some flowers for a fun pop of metallic. Calligraphy is also fun in metallic watercolor. I like it for added visual effect and texture in my projects.
Thank you these paints look awesome! I'll check them out. I use glitter on my cards that I make. I love using it on snow ❄️ and some flowers, especially butterflies 🦋 and xmass trees all kids of things. It's beautiful 😍.
I’m really surprised at the difference between the black paper and the white paper, the paints looked so much better on the black paper. Epic vid as always.
Harriet de Winton did a video recently of water colour Halloween potion bottles, I think the glitter could work well there as a top layer and flicked colour. 🎉 The pans and colours look great though. Makes me think though too of when I put a glitter colour layer of nail polish over a base colour.
I really like the effect on the black paper. Sparkly is good, especially for highlights. It's too bad I already have a set of metallic watercolors. These look really nice.
#Emma, it's like auto body paints with mother of pearl, called flip flop paint! These are beautiful and I would def buy them. I like to hilite my flowers with metallic! ❤
Thanks for the video! Just curious: As most can see immediately, (and as you had said), the glittery rich pigmentation of these paints pop/are more appreciated when using black background/paper. Seeing/knowing this, I want to ask: Why did you choose to utilize all white paper in lieu of using on both black & white when painting w/them outside of swatching?
What gal doesn’t like sparkle though? I recently did a watercolor card for a friend. I tried a second glaze using a metallic for a bloom and it came out quite pretty. I loved it. 🙏🏽🙋🏻♀️👍🏽
I love glitter but also feel a pinch at the environmental implications. The EU has put in a law, that will go in effect much later, to prevent glitter in craft/art. Makeup will be added later. Pretty but you don’t need these irrespective of what the thumbnail says 😛
@@justjane2070 apparently there is no such thing as bio glitter. It’s just tinier particles of plastic ( micro…..micro plastic) This info came out a few years ago in the makeup community when we were debating glitter in eyeshadows. Hence the strict EU law. Hopefully one day it will actually be bio degradable.
Most shimmer metallic paint does not actually contain glitter but some of these ones do. I use the shimmery paint instead. (Plus the paints Emma is using here is too expensive for my wallet!!)
I use the shimmer paints as a glaze over watercolor on paintings of birds. Especially the ones whose feathers are also color-changing from different angles.
Also insects and fish! They add a nice shimmer to dragonfly wings or whispy fins of fish.

I actually have a paint that's called 'Northern Lights' 🙃
Thanks! I just ordered a couple of them! I appreciate you doing this. I'm thinking of a rainbow trout on a black background.

Just get one small tube of silver watercolor. You can mix it into any color for shimmer.

those glitters are so cute, i love glittery watercolors ❤❤

Without your black and white searching, I would never have thought shimmeries could end up so differently. You are such an inspirational teacher!
I use metallic watercolor for highlights on dark florals.

Those of Vivid Series are soooo beautiful *----*

I use metallic watercolor and metallic gouache in calligraphy, my favourites being Coliro

Hope you're enjoying our beautiful autumn 🍂. Here in Ottawa, Ontario . Still painting outside. My potted plants are still blooming. 😊 Happy Canadian

Really fun painting ideas too! I especially liked the leaves 😊 🍁
beautiful! they would be wonderful for dragonflies and other insects
I like them on what are metallic / sparkling and from Narurebitaelf in real life like insects, fishes, butterflies

Love the glitter!
Those paints are beautiful. Thanks for giving examples - loved the night sky.
Stephanie Pui-Mun Law uses a lot of metallics and shimmers in her work - it's made me want to try more of them myself
Your little paintings were beautiful. Thanks for showing us those great metallic paints. I’ll check out her shop!
Those are pretty cool!
Lovely glitter paints just in time for Christmas Emma !! Thanks for sharing this with us xx
🌟WOW! Pretty cool glittery stuff! Great for eye catching highlights! Thanks for sharing!

Daniel Smith has a great silver water color. It’s all you need to mix with any color to make it shimmer. Buying all these is a waste.
I used them for a Christmas waterglobe.
Fantastic!

I've only seen these paints used for adult colouring books

I’m not a fan of glitter/metallic finishes but may be these would work better over a base layer of paint?
Glitter paints are great for highlights and go really nicely on top of normal watercolour, yes!!
Oh put them on top of other colors! In what ever motif you like
They look way better on the black paper ...the white is just meh.

Where to buy them

You could buy the biodegradable glitter !

"toxins"
Girl, do you even know what toxins are?
