- Protests in Iran continue after the death of a 22-year-old Kurdish woman in custody of the so-called morality police. Mahsa Amini died last week after being detained for allegedly leaving some of her hair visible in violation of an Iranian law requiring women to cover their heads. Witnesses said Amini was severely beaten by police, but authorities claim she died of natural causes. Thousands of people, often led by young women, have taken to the streets in outrage over Amini's death, chanting slogans against the morality police and the government, with some burning their headscarves in a show of defiance. "This anger against the morality police and the violence they are committing on the streets has been building up for years," says Iranian American journalist Negar Mortazavi.

There was a story of Prophet Muhammad SAW just ignore a lady who doesn't cover up properly passed by him. He is with a friend and his friend point out to the women and ask him to preach her but Muhammad SAW didn't do anything instead he preach his friend to mind his own business. He said: "if you doesn't like what you saw, look away and leave the place".
This is the true teaching of Islam. What the Iranian government doing is nothing to do with Islamic teaching. It is a culture thing. This culture exist long before Islam.

I used to work with a girl who was from Iran. At the time she was a senior in high school and came in part time to help us out. Every year her family went back for a month to visit. She hated those trips as she was quite westernized. It's been about 7 years since we worked together but she told me after returning from her trip that there would be a revolution in Iran within the next decade and it would be the women and the youth behind it. And here we are...let's hope this is a turning point for human rights in Iran.

I always have non-muslims who tell me the importance of respecting the law of the land and I always do that. Now, why can't the atheist respect law of the land in muslim majority countries. I have been crying since I heard of this terrible news. Mahsa was with her brother sightseeing as a tourist when they arrest her. Her brother was begging the guards to not take her sister and told them that they are not from around the city. But a few hours later they gave the family her body. This is so horrible and unbelievable like a horror movie
It want be sadly because if they would be able to choose to wear hijab or not and actually get the freedom to practice the faith the way the faith say they should , The dictator would loose his power, and the west would loose their scapegoat to hold Islam responsible for everything.
