For those not familiar with the usual Hunter Field Target (HFT) rules I neglected to point out in the video that we use a fixed focus on our scopes during competition. I fix my focus at 25 yards, which is why you'll see some HFT targets in my video footage appear out of focus. This is not a fault of the EPL4 scope. 🙂👍
Another great video! I saw you at the British shooting show on Friday 13rd February, on the Air Arms stand. I wanted to pop over and say hello and thanks for the videos but you looked deep in thought (considering a new purchase perhaps 🤔) Thanks Ian
Definitely on my "to consider" list when shopping for a new scope. I am a big fan of FFP scopes, and you very quickly get used to the reticle changing size with mag. When hunting I can use the low mag for target acquisition and then wind up to get as much of the target in view as I want without having to lift my head to look at the mag ring and then do some sums before I can shoot. As long as I know the range the holdover points are the same regardless of mag setting. That scope looks like a keeper 🙂
It's a pretty impressive scope for the money. I spoke with Arken about introducing airgun specific scopes which they said were on the cards, but I guess they're concentrating on the Zulus night vision thing at the moment.
They usually supply a zoom ring pin that screws in when you take out the allen grub screws on the zoom ring must have stopped supplying them great video once again ...
Great vid as usual I'm looking for a scope that can double for some HFT and target shooting. Had seen this and its now firmly on the shortlist. Great to see the in use footage and get the thoughts of a typical user
I think I mentioned in the video that these scopes were built for centre fire and rimfire rifle use, so you would have no problems using them on a recoiling air rifle like a HW97. 🙂👍
@@hftshooter it seems I was on a wrong website. Saw prices between 1700 and 4000€. Googled again, and okay, between 400 and a 1000€, that's a lot better 😀. My bad, sorry!

Excellent review & good to see footage of yourself actually using it on a course 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Great review on the Arlen and nice to see you out on the course.
Thanks for this excellent review. Very interesting and comprehensive. I hope more suppliers ask for your reviews.

Thanks Ian. You should have said hello, would've loved to chat. Next time. 🙂👍

@@hftshooter Yes, a lot of the scope manufacturers are focused (pun intended) on thermal and night vision at present 🙂
Great review.
Thanks!
Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

I just checked the box to see if I missed it, but no throw lever. Thanks for watching. 🙂👍

Nice scope. Love the idea of the diabolical I’ve suggested “nicking” the idea for one of the special monthly shoots my local clue hold👍
Go for it!
Gonna check the stall out at the BSS, very interesting vid.. Particularly like the ret...
absolutely stunning scope for that money all the features of a much more expensive scope and the brand is a very popular one over the pond 👍
Couldn't agree more! 👍
Nicely done and educational. I think you let us know its strengths and weaknesses.
Thank you!
Very good review. How much or did I miss that?
Jumped the gun a bit with the price enquiry so thanks. 👍
No problem! 😄👍
Could you use it on a springer like the HW 97

I really like 'm. But quite expensive...
I guess everyone's budget is different. I thought the price was quite good for the features; it is FFP.
