I would personally go with performance.
I would say many if not most people who want a $600ish budget build are doing so because they lack money for higher end builds, so they try to maximize performance per dollar.
And that's not to diss anyone who is going for aesthetics. There's nothing wrong with getting an aesthetic build if that's what you want. It's just that most who go for aesthetics usually do so because they have money to spare.

“It’s a performance build so we can go ugly”
Dude, that looks SO GOOD! I don’t see where the ugly part is.
True, I have a full black and orange setup (headset, keyboard and mouse RGB) but I only have a laptop, never had a PC. Yet if I’m going to spend the money on a PC I’d rather go with raw performance.
It would be a first PC project I make myself and I want to know I’m getting the most out of my limited budget.
    Great video Zach!

If you're comfortable in buying used/BNIB parts then you can do the AM5 route fairly easily and not to mention that you don't have to pay that Uncle Sam via tax as the price listed in the video are before taxes. Here's my build and all came from meta.
    -Ryzen 5 7500F for $125
-16 gb (2x8) 5200 mhz which technically came free, but is priced $30
-Asus Proart B650 creator for $140
-256 gb m.2 nvme the only thing new for $20
    -BNIB 3060 ti for $220
-Prexisting Corsair SFF 750 Plat bought for $125
-Thermal Assassin 5 heat pipes $20
    -Cooler Masterbox q500 $20
Edit: I come from Canada, so I converted everything in USD and I also have shopped in Ali and have not experience any problem with them.

Adding a 5600X ($150 w/ cooler) and a RX 6800 XT ($370). Total out of pocket cost around $430. Not too bad, especially once I sell my old 1650 I5 9th gen gaming laptop.

I think you've nicely demonstrated why its not worth going for aesthetics if you're on a tight budget, the extra spent to make the PC look better subjectively made it perform worse objectively, that's not a trade I'd recommend people make. Maybe it makes sense at higher budgets but for me it seems completely pointless spending 20 dollars on cable extensions when you could have bought better parts instead.

I’ve heard the RGB can be a pain in this case, but I don’t use RBG so it’s not an issue for me. You can pick one up for around $80 new if you shop around. I’m an aesthetics guy myself usually, but that bump up from the 5500 to 5600 alone makes it worth picking the performance build.

  • @SiddharthGamingMC

Hey i think you made a mistake because actually the ryzen 5 5500 only supports pci.e gen 3, so you should have been taken the 3600 for the asthetic build that would have been better. Please correct me if im wrong, but if im correct thank me later ;)

      The 3600 supports pcie 4.

@@itsatrap4986 yea but the 5500 doesent so the 3600 is better

The PCI Gen 3 on that B450 board will hurt the RX 7600 PCI x8 lanes quite a lot. Spending slightly more for a B550 will yield even better performance.

I use the black non-RGB version of that cooler on a 5500 and it's more than enough, as is the chip with the 2060S it's paired with. I knows me place, it's 1080P, I'm fine with that.

Please make a pure performance RTX 4090 build but should not compromise the performance of the 4090.

Performance is what matters to me. I don’t mind some RGB and other things, but at the end of the day, I’m looking at my monitor, not the pretty lights and fancy case.

while Rob's are cool, I would now always opt for performance per buck. I mean, 1200 bucks can give me one beast pc if I focus on that, pure performance.
    a ryzen 5 cpu, 32 gb of ddr5, a nice 7600 XT...you know?

I honestly see no point in spending the budget that you have for aesthetics over performance, if my budget would be around $500 I would definitely get the best parts in the budget that would give me the best numbers. I don't think that it's a good idea to spend that budget on aesthetics

No aesthetics is an aesthetic for people who need to sleep with no RGB. RGB = Really Going Blind. I'm former IT Tech in the 90's...I remember when Beige was replaced by Black. Gonnah go performance over shiny any day.
