For me, the Kaweco Sport is like the VW classic beetle or called sedan in another countries. Economic, functional and reliable. It´s a classic for veteran and new users.
Hemingway, watching your video clarified something for me. I've been enjoying your presentation, your interaction with guests, and your welcoming approach in the live chats. Today, it hit me - you have a genteelness that is missing presently, and it reminds me of the generation that proceeded me. Please do not lose this as it is special and rare today.
My white Kaweco Sport with a medium nib is always in my shirt pocket with a custom notebook made for me by my very talented daughter. The one I am using now has alternating pages of blank tomoe river and lined Clairefontaine which serves as a writing guide for the tomoe river paper. What a neat idea. Thanks for the video.
As much as I am not a fan of this pen (mostly because of its dimensions) I am a fan of you and your videos. You instantly got me with the hoofbeats 😆👍 Thank you!
In my perception, Wes Anderson is to film what you, Hemingway, are to RUclips. Your work is intelligent, utterly unique, and undeniably aesthetic. The wondrous array of colors within this video suits the vibrant Kaweco Sport look quite pleasingly. I just purchased a budget-friendly Jinhao pen based upon one of your past videos that I've re-visited. Soon, I will be acquiring the Kaweco Sport in Lavender. I have also got my eyes on the Cyan option and...who am I kidding? EVERY Kaweco Sport color is gloriously chic. Once again, your efforts have resulted in a shining video serving as a beacon to all of us relishing in its every second. ✒
You in front of the tractor around 03:15 was perfect Wes Anderson, I was dying, so so great, Hemingway. Nailed the mannerisms, the tone, the vocabulary, the MUSIC, everything! The tulip farm backdrop was AMAZING, I just loved this whole video! Oh, and appreciate the practical history and details on the Kaweco brand too 🤣
Thank you for another informative video that’s a joy to watch. The Brass version is my EDC. It is a great pen. I only have four Kawecos but temptation is always knocking!
I love that tulip field! Good reminder that summer is here: I'm wearing shorts and t-shirts most of the time, so time to ink up a pocket pen. I have a vintage Kaweco Sport, but that doesn't travel. I'll be inking up my regular Sport for my journeys out of the house. Mine is older and not the most wonderful writing experience, but it's perfect for use away from the house: quickly jotted notes or signing something.
Wow Hemingway. Looks awesome. Love the portability of of it. Plus if you lose it it’s not like you lost your MB146. Thanks for tip on refilling cartridges. Might need to see if you have a video that procedure.
That was fun and the tulips, wow! So pretty. I loved going along to see something I normally wouldn't 😊 I work near a National Rose Garden while not as large geographically, similar when in full bloom ⚘️🌹🌷
A beautiful homage to the Kaweco Sport! Thank you. I have 5 including the Brass and my favorite nibs are B and 1.1 stub. I also love them and if I didn’t know better, I‘d think you‘re at the Dutch Pen Show. Tulips are my favorite flowers!
You are minutes from my home Hemingway. I love Ferjulian's during tulip season! It is such a special place! My Kawecos never let me down! Great feature! Thanks for your thoughtful content!
I have the Student because it was on sale. Have made so many orders that I can't remember from where, but I like it. Thanks for the Wes Anderson-inspired Sport Report from the luscious tulip field!
Good show Hemingway, love the location and style! I have a couple of these and I eyedropper mine, they hold a ton of ink (the plastic ones). They're supposed to be coming out with piston fillers again this year sometime...
Hi Hemingway! Just wanted to let you know that I found a little group here in CA that started out as vintage pen club. And they want to share there group with new people. Met a lady there who was excited about my Sailor Shikori Grateful Crane pen and she showed me her Mont Blanc collection…she let me try her Mont Blanc 149 with a white glove on…I am enamored with that pen now and it truly is a different writing experience to write with a Mont Blanc. Oh I also tried a Kaweco with a Twin nib which I liked also. Thank you for all your inspiration with each video! I met a nice group of people who want to share not only pens but want to be with people who want to share their love of writing letters…stay ever so awesome and inspiring!
I have 4 Kaweco Sports .... 3 are plastic and one is an AL. I love the pen bodies and recent nibs have been great ... early experiences I had with their nibs disappointed me but newer nibs are fantastic. I've settled on BB as my favorite nib and my purple Galen Leather exclusive is my favorite pen color. You've got some beautiful ones!!!! + I just loved seeing the tulip fields!!! 🌷
Thanks for a great video on the Kaweco Sport. I have a bunch of them and use them for drawing and writing, each one in a different color and inked with a similarly colored ink. They are so portable and take up so little space, they aree great for drawing or writing on the go. I always have at least one with me wherever I go. They are just fun pens to use.
I enjoyed the video including the style selection. The family and tulips are beautiful. Loved the old tractor. I bought two fountain pens on my first excursion into the hobby…a Kaweco Sport and a Lamy Safari. Still enjoy both of them!
I absolutely love my Brass Sport nib! It writes beautifully, and is now an official part of my EDC. When bought it, I polished it to a high luster for the first and last time. Since then, I allowed it to develop a nice patina to tell its own story. 👍
Couldn't agree more! You know how much I love that one. That is an excellent choice ink! -The problem with using that sort of music is that I would be instantly demonetized and my video would be muted. It’s no fun. I love watching pens evolve. All the best, My Friend.
Truly a fantastic pen for pocket size, travel, accessibility, design, the tin, use! I love kawecos..there's one for every kind of person..and if your hands are too big..get a standard size.
Approx. 12 yrs. ago I bought one of these in green, plastic. Ink I used was Private Reserve Spear Mint. Discontined, I think, but the ink caused nib creap and stained my fingers. Now I use Herbin Perle Noire. Perfect. In fact I have another Kaweco Sport, transparant. These pens are my favourites but one, An old Aurora Hastil that has never let me down in terms of staining my fingers, start up problems, dripping, leaking or whatever problem you can think of. Like your channel. Class & style.
I have the same Blush Pitaya as you do, and the Iridescent Pearl and a brass one. I love them all. The Pitaya was one of my first pen purchases as I was getting in to the hobby. Something about the Sport really appealed to me, and my closest pen shop is often sold out of the things I want. Pink is not my preferred colour but I couldn't wait! My Brass Kaweco I managed to get for $50 Canadian, when someone in my pen group was selling off her collection. I wish they would make ring top versions because a little Sport would be perfect to wear around your neck. None of my clothes have shirt pockets, so it would definitely appeal to the female demographic.
Hi. Beautiful vidio, really loved the style of it. I've been at this fountain pen game for nearly 50 years, and I bought my first Kaweco Sport because of viewing your channel, thanks. All the best.🤗 Cheers
Kaweco Sport=Prototype Pocket Pen. I LOVE my Al-Sport, and there will be more of the regular versions to follow. I have the converter, but it is so small I haven't used it yet! I had bought a box of Kaweco cartridges for my Perkeo (another NICE inexpensive pen!) and when they didn't feed like I wanted, I used a syringe to empty them into a sample vial, and when I got my AL Sport, I just filled one of the cleaned, empty cartridges with the color of ink I wanted to use, and it works perfectly!
I liked the pastiche style of this review. I was prompted to reink my favourite pen of all - my Kaweco Skyline Sport Black (M) - with Aurora Black, instead of my normal Diamine Onyx. In context, the pen had been empty overnight, and is almost always in my EDC kit.
My fave Kaweco Sport had a little leather sheaf and I admit to keeping it for no other reason than buying it next door to the Toronto Stock Exchange at a pen seller back in 1990’s! The pen has a serious nib skip and hard start issue but I’ve kept it in the collection!
What a fun video! Loved the 6:09 mark 🤛🏻😁Great nod to Wes Anderson. The end shot with you and your daughter is like a Mary Cassatt painting. ❤ You have made me fall in love with my Kaweco pens all over again. Well done Hemingway.
Thank you so much! I appreciate the kind and encouraging words! By the way, I had a lot of fun doing that bit. There were some fun outtakes for this one!
Beautiful video 🙌😊. the brass sport was my first fountain pen I aquired 15 yrs ago and I've used it every day since! Such a wonderful pen. My new favorite pocket pen is the Big Idea Design EDC fountain pen that is quite similar. Thanks for your wonderful content and authenticity 💗🌈✨!
Thanks again for your videos. I have never liked small fountain pens. I like them big and heavy. However, a few days ago I bought the Kaweco Brass Sport - Fine point. It writes wonderfully and once the cap is on it has a very good balance in the hand. I liked it so much that soon I bought the Kaweko AL SPORT Fountain Pen Deep Red, M tip ( aluminum) and besides having a wonderful color, it writes super well. He finally convinced me. I will continue collecting it but not the plastic ones since they weigh little. Thanks for your time. (I forgot. I bought the Montblanc 149 with a curved tip and for my taste it does not convince me. We will talk about it later)
Great Kaweco pen review, and fine choice in folding knife. As a new subscriber I must search to see if you cover the Benchmade Bailout. If not, you should! Thank you.
Love the scenery. Way to go matching the the pens and pants with the tulip colors?????? Your videos are growing in maturity, but still staying fun…Keep up the great work….
I own a few modestly priced European fountain pens I.E. Faber Castell, Lamy, and Keweco, and I must say, the Keweco Sport I own is the smoothest steel nib of them all. I rarely leave my house without it!! Highly recommend. (Fine nib with Noodlers X-Feather ink).
I’ve never really used a fountain pen. But after watching multiple videos on your channel and on other content creators channels. I thought I would give it a try. I decided to order a few Kaweco pens. I showed pics of the black and green Classic Sports to the wife. She immediately demanded that I get her a Bordeaux and a Teal. The wife also mentioned that one of the daughters birthday is coming up and suggested that I also purchase a Sweet Banana and a Pearlescent for her. I remembered my younger sister has a tendency to constantly jot down notes for herself and I thought, “Well, I’m in this deep. What’s another $25 at this point?”. So the sister is getting a Mandarin Kaweco. I also realized I would need ink for everyone. So multiple boxes of blue and black ink were also ordered for distribution. I have you and several other content creators to “thank” for my $300 purchase of pens, inks and accessories. You might have made some converts. I’m just glad I didn’t show the wife pics of the TWSBI Vac 700 R Iris or the Lamy Studio. I’m not sure I would even want to add that up with inks and accessories.
@@HemingwayJones I ordered them a few days ago. I guess we will see if it goes well. I’m hoping to enjoy using a fountain pen. I used to write a considerable amount. But I have gotten out of doing it regularly over the past few years and I miss it. I hope everyone else will enjoy their pens. But they will have to get their own after they get their first ones from me. Are Kaweco’s gateway pens? LOL!
Hello HJ. Fun video. Always nice to see you on location. Have you ever tried assembling different colors together to really make them a unique writing pen? Just a thought.
Funny! I have not, but strangely…. just today while filming something else, that very idea with this very pen, came to me! So interesting that you would write this now! Let’s start a trend! I think you will see this on my channel soon.
Kaweco plastics in the entry pens are good $25 or less pens. They are short and stubby and taking cartridges only is limited in utility. The metal versions are so much more robust as pocket pens but a Kaweco converter is overdue. the plus on the plastic pens is you can just eye dropper them and that’s much needed as an added element of your videos! Have to love the clip no clip utility. Kaweco needs to invest in some Canadian nature, in the mountains and in the northern settings would add to their market appeal. Though some Arizona and Oregon settings are equally appealing in North America.
Hello My Friend! I do need to eye drop. I haven’t done one yet. I am tempted with this new Tom’s Studio Pen, so I may soon. Do you not like the Kaweco plunger converter? It is awkward to use and a bit hard to plunge! It holds less ink, I think, than the Con 40! Thanks for the great comment.
When I saw the Kaweco Al-Sport in a shop, I just had to buy it. It reminded me of a long gone fountain pen I loved, the Rotring 600. I used this pen as my only fountain pen for almost 10 years. It was brilliant, and quirky. Clips which detach off the cap. Cap's which regularly unscrewed in my bike bag, cartridges detaching internally resulting in an inky mess. But it somehow just kept on writing... Until that day that my wife accidentally threw it out together with an almost finished notebook. Now, who does such a thing? I wanted to buy another one, but didn't like any of the colors, and didn't want to re-buy the same color I had. So I got the Supra, which is a level up in quirkiness for sure. Anyhow, I still got much love for the sport. Someday I will surely re-buy one. Thanks for this lovely video.
Thanks so much for watching. I appreciate it. So sorry that you lost one. They are quirky! I have a Supra too. It’s like a super size Liliput. All the best!
Great video and nice color coordination with the tulips! I've been wanting to try the Kaweco in B and BB nib but the ink capacity 😮......I love your justification though. I could just carry 2 pens and some cartridges and be totally fine.
That is the work around! You’re right of course, the ink capacity is not great, but then you can use a bunch of new colors. Thanks so much for watching and being here.
Nice video. I have one Kaweco Sport Pearl nib and I’ve struggled with it. I tried carrying it in my purse, but the converter becomes disengaged and ink leaks. I also found it difficult to write with on receipts, etc. I keep it at home and use it daily where it isn’t jostled too much and the paper is always friendly. We get along better now. I do want a brass pen to carry with me, but am unsure about choosing a Kaweco. Perhaps a Traveler’s ?
I'm just starting to watch now and fear I'll be right behind you.😅Been eyeing the pearl one (eta I'm forgetting the actual name) for weeks but IDK. we'll see
You should have had Benjamin Britten's "The young person's guide to the orchestra" as background music (Moonrise Sunset). 🙂 I love the Kaweco BB nibs, though I have a medium permanently inked with Sailor Keiwaguro (pigmented black) to use as a permanent black, for instance, for envelopes.
I wish I could use that, Tom, but if I did I would be muted and demonetized. I use the license free music for that very reason. It costs hundreds for recognizable music. All the best!
I’ve 4 ‘Plastic Sport’ & 3 Al Sport of different types and colors (& a Liliput) and also an equal number of clones (mostly from ‘Delike’, China).. I like Al Sport, but I’m not a fan of Plastic Sport. At $40 (price in India, without the mini converter), a Plastic Sport is overpriced according to me.. ‘Art Sport’ clones from Delike are my favorites of all these Kaweco and Clones and these’re the ones I use the most..
Does anyone have experience with the online store KSgills. They have a pen I've always wanted that's been discontinued for a long time, which makes me suspicious of the company. Someone, please tell me if they're legit.
For me, the Kaweco Sport is like the VW classic beetle or called sedan in another countries. Economic, functional and reliable. It´s a classic for veteran and new users.
That is a fantastic analogy! Thank you.

Thank you, My Friend. That is very kind of you to say. Thanks!
My white Kaweco Sport with a medium nib is always in my shirt pocket with a custom notebook made for me by my very talented daughter. A notebook made by your daughter is so nice and sentimental. Wonderful. Thanks for watching.

I am a fan of you and your videos.
You instantly got me with the hoofbeats 😆👍

Thanks so much! This is my goal: I would like to entertain you even if you don’t like the pen. This comment made my day. Thank you!

Hello and thank you! I don’t have a cartridge refill video. I’ll have to do one. Thanks!
Good work, and great seeing the Hemingway Jones women in the tulip field. Great way to infuse both joy and color into the presentation.
Thank you, Laddie! I appreciate it.

What a beautiful place to film! I love my Kaweco Sports!! I've never had a problem with any of them.

Hello HJ.
Hi, been using a kaweco classic sport in medium it's durable and gives a wet line ,no skipping and no hard starts.😊😊
Beautiful! Great choice!
We have complex relationships with these marvelous writing instruments. Maybe a Traveler’s, if you would be more comfortable with it. All the best.
I’m off to buy my first Kaweko. 🎉
Wow! Congratulations! Let me know what you think of it! All the best!
@@HemingwayJones The Purcell(1659-1689) theme is out of copyright, but various performances might not be.
May I ask what watch was featured?
I was wearing my Rolex GMT Master II in this one. Cheers!
$40 USD is a little steep. It is a nice nib, but I am with you there. Especially since India has some amazing fountain pens of its own. All the best.
Have you tried the twin nib? I finally found one. My sister wrote with it and now the pen is in her purse.
I have not. I need to! Thanks!
I'd have won black gold, used there black ink,it's pretty mind a fine nib.from Goulet pens, frank in Oswego I'll,
Wonderful.
@@HemingwayJones thanks

Nice video.

Does anyone have experience with the online store KSgills. They have a pen I've always wanted that's been discontinued for a long time, which makes me suspicious of the company. Someone, please tell me if they're legit.
