When you realise that religion or cults are an external by-product of the phylogenetic traumas dormant within mans psyche, you realise that it's not the particular religion or cult itself that is the problem, nor those cult leaders. The cult is this Crowd consciousness. It's just manipulated by these swindler leaders that know man is basically a Self-less individual. Paint a picture of that what you're selling is general consensus and he's all for it. Cults come and go. They just replace the old and worn out cloaks in the form of another guise when that particular trend loses its affect. The black cloak of the priest has faded out and now we have the white cloak of the scientist. But the common theme remains: Crowd Consciousness - mans desperate attempt at not to be a Self...

Coming to bands late is okay, I mean, you'd rather people were listening to this masterpiece than not listening to it at all; but I have to say, as someone who rushed out and bought this on tape back in '93, there's something unreal about being a fan of a band from the beginning, and getting psyched about a new record coming out, and saving your money and going down to the local record shop to get a copy almost as soon as it is released. Loving a band for decades is just an awesome feeling - travelling with them as they evolve and continue to put out music as good as this. It's partly a nostalgia thing, coming to RUclips so often to hear old songs - it's nice to be able to say of yourself: "I remember this when it came out! I remember how good it made me feel!"....

I first discovered them from watching the God of Emptiness video on a late rerun of Beavis and Butthead in the late 90s. It was just a short clip, but it made a huge impression on me. I asked around the metal kids at my school if anyone heard of that song, a kid let me borrow Covenant on cassette. I remember really liking "Sworn to the Black" the most and "The Lion's Den" I remember listening to God of Emptiness in my room, and my mom heard the "bow to me faithfully" part, my mom thought it sounded evil, and she hated it of course. Fast forward a few years later I saw Pantera on their last tour in 2001 with Slayer, Static X, Skrape, and Morbid Angel was the opening band, they had a different lineup at that point but after seeing them live, I finally decided to start buying their albums. I bought every one of their albums on CD, and went on to see them live many more times over the years and I met the band.

DEICIDE LITERALLY MEANS THE KILLING OR DEATH OF GOD.. I REST MY CASE AND THE 2ND ALBLUM LEGION - 1992 WAS NOT AS COOL AS THE 1ST ONE BUT THE TECHNICALLY ASPECT WAS MORE SOPHISTICATED. DEICIDE 3RD AND MOST PROFANE COVER ALBUM WAS ONCE UPON THE CROSS WITH A DISEMBOWELED JESUS CHRIST FOR CHRIST SAKES, with unholy tunes like KILL THE CHRISTIAN. 4TH ALBLUM SERPENTS OF THE LIGHT WAS DISAPPOINTING IN THE PRODUCTION VALUE BUT MORE THAN HALF THE SONGS WERE DECENT. AFTER THAT IS WHEN GLEN BENTON KINDA SOUNDED THE SAME. IN TORMENT IN HELL, INSYNERATHYM, THE SCARS OF THE CRUCIFIX AND THE STENCH OF REDEMPTION AND THE BEST OF DEICIDE WAS PROBABLY THE LAST DISC THAT I BOUGHT WITH 20 DEICIDE SOORHING SOUNDS OF HELL. GLEN BENTON IN HIS EARLY DAYS HAD THE PERFECT DEMONIC VOICE, GROWL THAT MADE HIM SOUND LIKE HE WAS POSSESSED BY MEPHISTOPHELES. PLUS I NOTICED HOW ALL 4 BAND MEMBERS BULKED UP WITH STEROID USE AND WEIGHTLIFTING OF COURSE!
