Pressfield's first book, The Legend of Bagger Vance, which was loosely based on the Bhagavad Gita, was published in 1995, and was made into a 2000 film of the same name directed by Robert Redford and starring Will Smith, Charlize Theron, and Matt Damon. His second novel, Gates of Fire (1998), is about the Spartans and the battle at Thermopylae. It is taught at the U.S. Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, and the Marine Corps Basic School at Quantico.

We Afghans are proud people. We were the kings of east, and that is the reason we never bow down to any man but the creator Allah! That creator primises us that as long as we fear him, not any manpower, we will be victorious and indefeasible! And we are proud Muslims, that following the paths of prophets, no human couod defeat prophers when they bowed down to Allah?

He has less knowledge of history of south Asia & central Asia & persia properly. Alexander had his biggest casualties against Indian small independent Porus in Af-Pak border before Mauryan Empire establishment. Mauryan postponed the coup against Nanda Empire for Alexander arrival in Persia. Alexander got hit by poisounous arrow in present Baluchistan by Mauryan proxy. Afghanistan & Pashtuns were always part of India till 17th century Abdali made it seperate winning 3rd war against Marathas. Before that Punjab & Persia had contested control over Afghanistan, later from 6th century Huns & 8th century Ummayed & 12th century central Asian Turkic control was established but India always took it back. Before British, Sikh empire of Punjab again got control of Afghanistan.

@@MrKhan-ku7fz The fact is that just 180 years ago Maharajah Ranjit Singh (1799-1839), the Sikh ruler of Punjab, and his brilliant commander Hari Singh Nalwa, defeated the Afghans and the tribes of the Khyber Pass area. Had it not been for Ranjit Singh, Peshawar and the north-west frontier province of India (handed over to Pakistan in 1947 when India was divided) would have been part of Afghanistan today.
