- To help build and grade dirt, I picked up a Ditch Witch SK650 mini Skid steer. There's a few projects where a Skidsteer just works better than an Excavator and having both style of machines will help out a lot. In this video I also picked up a used DR power woodchipper to help out clean up the woods in the back. I've actually shown both of these in this video - • Thinning Out Brush Wit... .
For what it's worth - A lot of the videos on this channel show the completion of a project from start to finish, and for that reason the videos aren't always in chronological order.

A great tool. I work on my local trail team and we have two. Feel like my skills are getting better and better. Auger and grappler attachments are very handy.
Good stuff! Even better than your riding videos. More please. Also, as deadstump said, don't use your torque wrench as a breaker bar! Just slip a pipe over your normal socket wrench and use it as a longer lever.

We have a similar unit - Vermeer CTX 100. Great machines. I would check your track tension and learn how to put them on and take them off in tricky situations - you will at some point “loose” one when you don’t expect it!

I'm jealous! That equipment is going to make things way easier. [fwiw - Its much safer to connect the positive terminal of a battery first. If you accidentally short your wrench and the positive terminal to the frame with no negative connection to the battery, no big deal. I had a battery explode in my car years ago and the acid bath was no joke.]
Yeah, I should have done what you said. While I was editing the video I kind of realized I fucked up. I've seen people post stuff in r/justrolledintotheshop and on tiktok. It's not somethign I want to experience.

I like being self reliant. I'm also not sure how long my career as an "Athlete" will last so having backup plans if things go south gives me a bit of freedom.

Safety tip:
Don’t ever put a tool on the battery positive with the negative cable connected. If you accidentally let the tool touch the terminal and machine chassis at the same time it will short the battery and create a significant arc flash.
Always disconnect the negative first, then connect it last.

Definitely don’t want to bust yourself up making trails and then not being able to ride them. You are wise to get tools to do the hard work for you!
Nothing will ever quite get rid of handwork, but being able to delegate backbreaking tasks is a lifesaver.

Sweet ditch with even has the hydraulic ports for attatchments
Couldnt tell but looks like your bucket is missing the cutting edge youll want that so you dont wear your bucket out
Also you can clean the batter cable ends with baking soda and di water

I'm impressed. I wondering if you consider a small compact tractor. they are like swiss army knife of out tool world. Something like a dedicated excavator will do a better job. I am now giving more thought of building some trails the local closed landfill... opportunity to get out , use the toys, i meant tools. Only problem I can't dig big whole there. :(
Yeah, I've looked into them but from seeing other people build or trying to build with them before, they never work as well as you expect. Still, i could see one being added in the future, but I'll pretty good for the time being.

How has your SK650 been treating you? Any complaints? Been seriously considering getting one myself but I've heard they're hard on undercarriage parts.

Phil, where do you get mechanical fearlessness? Is it from bikes? Did you grow up in a diy environment?
My track fell off, how do you release tension on these, there is no grease fitting for this model?
There's a big threaded bolt with a square head on the end. If you are lucky and it is not seized, you'll need a big socket (maybe one inch or 1.5inch I can't remember), a socket extender (maybe 4inch) and breaker bar. I can't remember why, but i had to use the socket extension to get to the bolt head, i think there was some clearance issues. I had to thread the socket extension through a hole or something. But my track bolt was seized so i used a one of those blue propane torches to head up the bolt for like 5-10 minutes to get and had to put and extension on the breaker bar to get the bolt loose. Sounded like i broke something when it finally came loose.

I did! I wasn't particularly good at puck handling, but I was a good skater. It was the only team sport I liked, but I clicked better with individual sports.
@@PhilsWorld yeah I played hockey since I was 11 it’s my fav sport as bikes are. And baseball. I was on alot of teams did tournaments in hockey have trophy’s but they don’t mean anything now just the friends I made are way better then them.
Kinda feel like a set of plugs would have done the job. Maybe even just re-gapping the old set! Did your hands go all numb from the vibrations while feeding the limbs?
There was definitely some built up gunk in the carb jets. Either way, it's running now. Yeah, they did but not this time. When i was chipper the wood out back i did like 5decent piles. I was glad to get through that.
How much did you pay? I'm also in the market for one..but I feel like some are priced pretty high for used models with 1000+ hours
These are over 30k new. I bought mine during the height of covid and it was 10-12kish. There were none available anywhere so demand was high at the time.
@PhilsWorld used ones are going around 20k right now. Maybe that only since I'm looking online. I'm hoping to get it closer to what around you got yours for
I've seen a. Bunch of used toro dingo going for 10k recently in my area. There's also a bunch of no name ones popping up on marketplace for 6-9k new. It's a bit of a gamble, but i don't think they are too bad.

Please for the sake of greatness.... Don't use your torque wrench as a breaker bar! Those are precision pieces of kit to torque down bolts to a specific torque. Please get a breaker bar and/or a large socket driver for stuck bolt removal or other heavy use. It would be a shame to break that nice piece of kit.
I could waste more time waiting for a tool to come in or I could just use what I have to get the job done. Time is the most valuable thing in life and you can't get that back. On the other hand, tools are easily replaceable.

@Neil Pritchett 1. It's not being wasted if it's being used. 2. It's a 28 dollar tool. 3. it still works perfectly fine. 4. All broken tools make good hammers. 5. You are getting way too worked about something that you didn't pay for.

@@PhilsWorld couldn’t agree more time is something you don’t get back … I would disagree if it was a $400 torque wrench… but for $28 it’s a good deal for a breaker bar 👍
Better tighten them tracks a little.
The front idler bearings need to be replaced. Until I feel like messing around with that, it gets the job done.
Phil nice video i not that happe that you are destroy tree Because you put wood and dirt out of the trees. They rot and die after a few years
That tree is mostly dead anyway. A good portion of the wood that I was moving what was cut up pieces of the top of that tree which had fallen.
Too much dirt additional dirt around the base of a tree is not good for the tree.
That tree is already on its way out. The top was already dead and broke off. Some of those logs were actually from the top of that tree.
Jack .. don't ruin your machine do not change those houses.. PSI hydraulic pressure is different than return pressure
