What Eminem said about people turning on Drake, people are turning on Jay. It’s like Jays classic albums don’t matter no more: RD (96’), Vol 1 (97’), Vol 2 (98’), TB (01’), TBA (03’), AG (07’), 4:44 (17’). The wordplay, double entendres, story and the music ages well. Every other album aren’t as good but are better than many albums today.
To me, I have NEVER been impressed by Jay-Z. Compared to his peers like: Black Thought, Canibus, Chino XL, Inspectah Deck, Kool G. Rap, Pharoahe Monach, Big Pun, GZA, Andre 300, etc. I don't hear what is so great about Jay-Z's pen game.
@@growngrownman5950 his use of double entendres, puns & allusions is very subtle. So I get why ppl think he’s more surface lvl than he actually is. There is a reason why a lot of respected rappers respect his pen
IF Jay is to continue recording, I hope Jay finds his Hit-Boy. Someone who understands exactly what he needs in 2024, and feeds him the perfect beats with absolutely no consideration for “a single”. For me, Nas’ MAGIC is better than anything in the King’s Disease series because of that very thing. On the flipside, the Beats ruined AZ’s DOD 2 for me 😔
Jay has the best flows and cadence in rap ever in my humble opinion, it makes up for his lack of lyricism. Jay lyrically is not naturally gifted like Nas, Beans, Jada, Banks, etc. Also jay has a great ear for beats as well which makes alot of people overrate alot of his verses in his catalog. With all that being said tho jay is still a monster lyrically and creative but its not the strongest part of his skill set at all. We mostly like the way jay sounds on a record rather than his lyrical prowess but thats still my goat.
@@floydjones1219 tell me about it ransom not only great lyrically has voice flow cadence to be a rapper when he says he checks all the boxes he does which very few rappers do checkout they live by ransom

Lol if big L, big and pac were alive you really think Jay would be who he is? He threw a temper tantrum and retired just because he couldn't hang with X. He waited for Nas to deal with his mother's passing before he dissed him. And he's literally burned every bridge he crossed. He couldn't even hold down beans when it was needed.
You are definitely the only 1,I'm not sure if your joking or just trying to be diffrent..Joe budden on his best day is not on jay z level..he wasn't even the best in slaughter house...
@@michaelcruz7204 No I’m not joking. Jay Z. Is extremely overrated and used Biggie’s rhymes way too much. Have you actually ever heard Joe’s albums? He is a true lyricist and his pen game is crazy
People forget Joe was super lyrical
This generation brain dead from appreciation of lyrical wordsmith rap.
Definitely
People sleep on both Jay and Joe’s pens…
