Replacement game between the Dolphins and the Seahawks. The great Dick Enberg on the mic with the late great Merlin Olsen. I OWN NOTHING!! EVERYTHING BELONGS TO NFL/NBC/COMCAST AND ONLY THEM!!
This was the first week of the Scabs in 1987 while the players were on strike. And actually, this game was not blacked out in Seattle. Tickets for all the home games for the season were sold out before mini camp began.
It was the Seahawks 24-20. And, BTW, Qwest Field is now called CenturyLink Field, just like the Qwest Center here in Omaha got the name CenturyLink Center after CenturyLink absorbed Qwest in 2010. Game date: October 4, 1987.
I remember that game and I'm not ashamed to say that was one of the best Seahawk games I've ever seen. Compared to the other strike games this one was relatively mistake-free.
+mrbenfrancis Did you not listen to what Dick Enberg said in his opening remarks? The Dolphins and Seahawks were the only teams not to have any veteran players cross the picket line at any time during the strike.
glad they blew up the Kingdome that place was ugly like I asked in my previous comment who won the Dolphins or Seahawks?????!!!!!!!...RIP Merlin I liked him he was great
+Nate Warren Most teams, yes; however, as Dick Enberg explained in his opening remarks, the Dolphins and Seahawks were the only teams in the entire NFL not to use any replacement players, as none of their veterans crossed the picket lines at any point during the strike .
This is one of those "They Just Didn't Care" sort of things for the Seahawks fans; only a smidge above 19,000 showed up at the dome that day! No doubt the player's strike played a role in that.
yes he was great RIP Merlin who won this game????!!!!!...wish I could remember was it the Dolphins or the Seahawks????!!!!!!...Qwest Field looks nicer than the Kingdome, eh????!!!!!!
I think the AFC West and NFC West need to be re-organized and the NFL needs to put Denver and Kansas City in a division with Arizona and St. Louis and Oakland and San Diego in a division with San Francisco and Seattle.
Love this music!! Takes me back to when I was a kid. It’s so much better than today’s music. This sounds like a king being crowned.
Just love the intros to the NFL in the 80's on both CBS and NBC
BEST NFL opening theme of ALL TIME!!!

The CLink stands on the former ground of the Dome right next to the Safe
I assume by "the Safe", you're talking about Safeco Field, correct?

I think the replacement teams were called the Miami Dolfinks (or Dolphonys) and the Seattle Scabhawks (or Seahags or Seahacks)

i had read where Steve Largent did for seattle
looks like a blackout in Seattle

+Cherilyn Hannen Seahawks 24-20.
The Redskiins won the Superbowl doing the strike year they did it twice they are call strike chanpions
They played under the same conditions and had to win games those years like everyone else, those are legitimate championships.
And the Redskins replacement team was the only NFL team to win all three of their games during the player strike.
When the players went on strike in 1987 didn't they use replacement players
+Nate Warren Most teams, yes; however, as Dick Enberg explained in his opening remarks, the Dolphins and Seahawks were the only teams in the entire NFL not to use any replacement players, as none of their veterans crossed the picket lines at any point during the strike .
Yes. Though some players crossed the picket lines, especially late in the strike, ALL the players in this game were replacement players (aka scabs).
Seahawks won. I was there.
me too, Im glad I went to support the team, it was a very emotional win.
GO SEAHAWKS!!!

Hawks won 24-20. It was a thriller.
