Taka said on the Japanese radio program that initially they had no intention to release this song as an individual MV version. But the Label decided to do it just recently. OOR thought like, "what to do with MV??", but the label prepared this visual. After watching this MV, he was a bit worried about if their thought behind the lyrics in English actually could reach to Japanese fans, so they decided to put Japanese sub on their Japanese version of MV released in their channel. Taka also said that there is a contract that their songs released under this label have to be all in English. On the other hand, the Japanese versions under the Japanese label have to be always with some Japanese lyrics. It's just a business matter why they always release the songs under this label in all English. Btw, Taka also said they signed with them because they loved this label.

All the songs of "Ambitions" are under one theme. It is a message to the "old" fans. If you don´t listen to the lyrics, there is no way you can understand this message. So let me explain : ambitions means they aim for something; bombs away could mean that some things should be thrown away; taking off means they are starting to change; we are, yeah they are who they are and that has nothing to do with us fans; Jaded means something is broken; hard to love, somethings are hard to love, but if you truly love it doesn´t matter; ... and so on and so on. I know there songs are different from their old stuff, but I love this band. I´m happy when they are happy. I hope they carry on to make music, so I can listen to it.

Everybody says they changed their style but even if that is the case I still love them. ONE OK ROCK is the most genius band I've known. And this song is one of the best I've heard till now from them. Please continue to make me dream like this ♥

I think people need to understand that One Ok Rock is probably just adapting to the US market. For one this song is closer to what people in the US are used to hearing. Also the US music market, in order to be considered "big" your music needs to be played on the radio and there's a certain "formula" to radio music and this song definitely fits that
Randi Lauderdale Thank you. And I'm sorry if my first comment sounded like I'm ungrateful and don't try to understand them. It's just that I've seen fans use this explanation a little bit too much and, well, you can disagree with me on this point, but I still feel it's not sth that prideful (don't get me wrong, they have every right to do what they are doing now, but I also have my own set of values). I know it's not easy for them though as right now they don't have total creativity control. As implied in one Japanese interview, it seemed even Taka wasn't well convinced with their label's direction and had a lot of discussion w the American side. I understand they need a lot of support during this time. Long story short, despite their current approach going against my personal philosophy, as you said, this doesn't make them any less of an artist and doesn't make me any less of a fan either.

At least the lyrics (in Taking off and this) still reflect their inner self (though a pity they cannot express more sophisticated feelings with limited command of English). Don't care what anyone says, I've been listening to these guys since 2009. Their songs have always been very powerful and after listening to this and some other songs from their upcoming album I can honestly say this is still one ok rock. The emotion and power is still there. They're still sticking to their rock roots. I can hear some difference from their earlier stuff but if you go back through all their albums you can hear how they gradually evolved into the powerful rock group they are today. I'm actually reminded of CHAOSMYTH, a beautiful song and my all time favorite by them, when I listen to this song. And I enjoy bands like one ok rock, twenty one pilots, and bring me the horizon who are able to release albums where the songs sound completely fresh yet and their able to adapt and add some change. Yet at the same time good and you know it's them because the heart is still there.
Me, getting to know OOR in mid 2020, regretting for being their supporter this late, seeing people in the comment section arguing about whether their old or new ones are better: 😞
bob nickerson you're underestimating the amount of pop that is in "pop". Or maybe it's the other way 'round, the barriers between genres are blurred so much nowadays because of different musical influences so a lot of pop songs now are more rock-sounding. get what I mean?

あみあっぷる たぶんそういうことじゃなくて、アメリカで活動したりライブするだけなら別にどんな日本人でもできるんです。ワンオクロックはまだ日本好きの外国人やワンオクロックが出てるようなフェスに来ている人たちには知名度があるけれど、まだ一般的な知名度はさほどありません。なので今はまだ海外で人気があるとはまだ言えない状態ですが、これからまだまだ知名度を上げていくことはできるという趣旨ではないでしょうか。実力も充分で、しかも天下のFueled By Ramenですし今はまだ日本のキッズの「海外でも人気あるんだ！」という感じ方と海外での評価にはギャップがありますが、これからには期待が持てるという意見だと感じました。
I heard this song back in school and I was addicted to it for a while. But then after a few years I FORGOT the title. And today I'm blessed to have found it again😭
I love this song. I love OOR even more because they keep on discovering new flavors, new twists, and new arrangements. But despite that, they are still ONE OK ROCK. I love them so much because they are not afraid to discover and try.
I like their new style, but I love their old. I feel like that's the general consensus among the fans atm; it's good, better than most songs, but not at the same level as their older style.

Taka said on the Japanese radio program that initially they had no intention to release this song as an individual MV version. But the Label decided to do it just recently. OOR thought like, "what to do with MV??", but the label prepared this visual. After watching this MV, he was a bit worried about if their thought behind the lyrics in English actually could reach to Japanese fans, so they decided to put Japanese sub on their Japanese version of MV released in their channel. Taka also said that there is a contract that their songs released under this label have to be all in English. On the other hand, the Japanese versions under the Japanese label have to be always with some Japanese lyrics. It's just a business matter why they always release the songs under this label in all English. Btw, Taka also said they signed with them because they loved this label.

I also thought that they didn't know this will be uploaded. 😆 It's really funny because Taka just recently posted a video with a different song on it and he removed it after 2 minutes saying he posted the wrong song. All the songs of "Ambitions" are under one theme. It is a message to the "old" fans. If you don´t listen to the lyrics, there is no way you can understand this message. So let me explain : ambitions means they aim for something; bombs away could mean that some things should be thrown away; taking off means they are starting to change; we are, yeah they are who they are and that has nothing to do with us fans; Jaded means something is broken; hard to love, somethings are hard to love, but if you truly love it doesn´t matter; ... and so on and so on. I know there songs are different from their old stuff, but I love this band. I´m happy when they are happy. I hope they carry on to make music, so I can listen to it.

聞けば聞くほど良い。いや、最初からよかったんだけどね。takaの声に力がこもってるし、音程の流れとか後半からの盛り上がりとか最高！これまでにないoneokrockが見れたし、本当に1月のアルバム楽しみだ。taka自身もラジオで今回はかなりの自信作って言ってたし、かなり楽しみ。昔の方が良いっていう人は昔の曲だけ聴いてれば良い。自分は今のoneokrockの方が断然好きだ。

I think people need to understand that One Ok Rock is probably just adapting to the US market. For one this song is closer to what people in the US are used to hearing. Also the US music market, in order to be considered "big" your music needs to be played on the radio and there's a certain "formula" to radio music and this song definitely fits that

Randi Lauderdale Thank you. And I'm sorry if my first comment sounded like I'm ungrateful and don't try to understand them. It's just that I've seen fans use this explanation a little bit too much and, well, you can disagree with me on this point, but I still feel it's not sth that prideful (don't get me wrong, they have every right to do what they are doing now, but I also have my own set of values). I know it's not easy for them though as right now they don't have total creativity control. As implied in one Japanese interview, it seemed even Taka wasn't well convinced with their label's direction and had a lot of discussion w the American side. I understand they need a lot of support during this time. Long story short, despite their current approach going against my personal philosophy, as you said, this doesn't make them any less of an artist and doesn't make me any less of a fan either.
Randi Lauderdale Yeah, I will wait for that too :) To be fair, I appreciate their hard work in difficult situations. At least the lyrics (in Taking off and this) still reflect their inner self (though a pity they cannot express more sophisticated feelings with limited command of English). And I have to say the songs they produce now are still better than the average songs on the chart. It goes to show their penning ability.

Don't care what anyone says, I've been listening to these guys since 2009. Their songs have always been very powerful and after listening to this and some other songs from their upcoming album I can honestly say this is still one ok rock. The emotion and power is still there. They're still sticking to their rock roots. I can hear some difference from their earlier stuff but if you go back through all their albums you can hear how they gradually evolved into the powerful rock group they are today. I'm actually reminded of CHAOSMYTH, a beautiful song and my all time favorite by them, when I listen to this song. And I enjoy bands like one ok rock, twenty one pilots, and bring me the horizon who are able to release albums where the songs sound completely fresh yet and their able to adapt and add some change. Yet at the same time good and you know it's them because the heart is still there.

外国人のコメントが多いだけで、海外で実際に注目されてるとは限りませんよ。
ここでコメントしてる外国人のほとんどは元々日本が好きな人で アニメ→映画→ワンオクとかがほとんどです。
だから日本にさほど興味がない外国人がワンオクを知っているかと言えば皆無ですし、海外のロックフェスに来ている一部の人が知っている程度です。なのでワンオクから海外(日本好きを除く)に挑戦することはとても意味のあることだと思います。

あみあっぷる たぶんそういうことじゃなくて、アメリカで活動したりライブするだけなら別にどんな日本人でもできるんです。ワンオクロックはまだ日本好きの外国人やワンオクロックが出てるようなフェスに来ている人たちには知名度があるけれど、まだ一般的な知名度はさほどありません。なので今はまだ海外で人気があるとはまだ言えない状態ですが、これからまだまだ知名度を上げていくことはできるという趣旨ではないでしょうか。実力も充分で、しかも天下のFueled By Ramenですし今はまだ日本のキッズの「海外でも人気あるんだ！」という感じ方と海外での評価にはギャップがありますが、これからには期待が持てるという意見だと感じました。

最近ポップ系の曲になってきていてONE OK ROCKらしさがないって言うのもわかるんだけどONE OK ROCKがその道を進むなら何も言わず応援してあげるのがファンなんじゃない？俺はONE OK ROCKがどんな音楽作っても応援する。からなず聞く。

I love this song.
I love OOR even more because they keep on discovering new flavors, new twists, and new arrangements. But despite that, they are still ONE OK ROCK. I love them so much because they are not afraid to discover and try.

Ali Trejo justamente pensaba en eso... una parte de mi ruega por escuchar el antiguo One ok Rock del cual me enamore... pero aunque no adoro su nuevo estilo, tampoco dejan de gustarme :')
yo pienso lo mismo aunq si escuchas one ok rock desde sus inicios notarias que siempre han estado cambiando su estilo gradualmente
siempre han incorporado nuevos estilos... pero en cada album suelen tener algo de el viejo OOR y esa variabilidad es la que me hace amarlos tanto :')
Es que ellos tenían planeado ir cambiando desde que lanzaron FOOL COOL ROCK. En el documental hay una parte que taka dice que van a experimentar un cambio y blahblahblah...Yo los sigo bancando, aunque tengan algunos temas que estén medio (muy) choto :v

後藤ゆらら めっちゃわかる！昔の曲は歌詞の意味とかスッゲェ共感したりして好きだったけど、最近の曲もまた違うジャンルとして考えたらめちゃくちゃ好き！ライブがまた盛り上がりそう！
