The most demanding form of Ray tracing is enabled & maxed (Path tracing) which tanks 1st gen RTX performance but also the game is exceeding 8GB VRAM usage here, what a combo lol.
you only need an upgrade if for some reason you're using it more than 2 hours a day. More than 4 per day you ahve two problems: one with electric bill being higher than the cost of upgrading to a similar perfromant 4060 Ti 16gb and get savings from energy bill or keep your electric bills equal and upgrading to 4070S and get more perfromance and same cost of ownership... second problem is you may be playing too much if you're considering upgrade to keep playing a lot of time at higher FPS (that may not be any better experience in current setting you're already playing well) or if you don't plan to upgrade your display (if not 1440p 27/32" or 2160p big freesync display...)... going from 300FPS to 700FPS on Valorant on a 60 to 120 Hz 1080p has no use.... 3rd option is 4080S you use NVIDIA curve optimizer scanner overclocking tech using MSI Afterburner (keep it 40 minuts doing its thing...) and you get a 285W +10% FPS but also a 225W (if you have luck with your silicon) performing like a 4080S... so you get almost the same power usage +-50W of the 2080S but +125 to + 320% FPS (depending on the game and settings)... in 5 years time you pay if used more than 4 hours per day a lot of energy (that could be better spend on hardware upgrades for more performance or saving money paying by itself...) 24/7 use of 4060Ti16GB (curve optimized) over your current 2080S it maybe on the >$2000 on electric bill or double that (it depends on the country), don't you prefer to get a 4090 for free?
If I were you, I would wait until RTX 50 series, because even if the rtx 50 series isn't that good, it'll still probably drop the prices of the rtx 40 series. Besides, rtx 2080 super is still a decent gpu for gaming in 2024, so surely it can just push a little longer
4080S is great. A sizable bump up. Everyone will tell u to wait and the price is blah,blah,blah. But fact Is nothing is cheap. And prices aren't going anywhere. So if your in the market go for it. The 50 series will be sold out and overpriced at launch as always. So saving u will not, and waiting u we will be doing. If u like gaming and looking for a much better experience and the money lines up on your end, go for it and enjoy. I can't wait forever. Also the 4080S has Excellent re-selability. Enjoy and sell and get the next
Currently I think the 40 series is a bad buy unless you can get one at a heavy discount, it's not worth buying nearly 2 year-old cards at full price. The 50 series might not be worth getting but 40 series prices should come down.
And 43% more expensive. Realistically the true sucessor is the RTX 4070 TI Super which is almost 2x faster than the 2080 Super and costs 14% more (which if we take into account the inflation the price is very similar).

Honestly, the way things going I don't think any CPU will comfortably push a 5090 to it's limits, I don't think it'll be a card worth buying. The 4090 already requires the top-end CPUs to sometimes get 99% usage

I call bullshit here because I’m almost every game here such as resident evil I can pull 60fps @4k max all so something is up with that GPU. Not to mention it’s running really hot my FE never goes over 53 degrees.
GPUs these days are aging like milk, I remember back in 2018 when AMD FineWine graphic cards like R9 290X (2013) were able to play just about anything at high or even ultra 5 years later. Or the HD 7970 from 2011, which still was a viable card until like 2017 or something. And now a flagship from mid 2019 struggles 4 years later to maintain 30 FPS at high/ultra pre-set in 2023 or 2024 games.
Im playing on 4k, with 3060ti + optimised settings + DLSS + FG mod and all correct 60fps or more but I have fucking problems textures due to 8gb VRAM... fucking Nvidia... I will change it for a 4070ti super 865€ faaaaaaaaak

My only problem is, that the 4080 Super uses a lot more energy. Actually, the 4090 should be 4090 Ti, the 4080 should be 4090, the 4070 Ti should be 4080, the 4070 is ok , the 4060 Ti should be 4060, the 4060 should be 4050 Ti. And the new carsd should be named, like 4070 Super, 4080 Super, 4090 Super. So this card is more of a 4090 Super. Actually, the 4070 Ti Super is, which counts here.
4080S is always under 300W and normally around 280w. Thats as efficient as u get for the massive performance. Its architecture is built very well. Actually prob the best from power draw standpoint this generation

I was able to achieve 40-50fps in RDR2 at ultra settings, after overclocking the GPU, i guess my 2060 will hold upto 2-3 more years

If you concern about energy. You should never go above the 4070. I guess 4060-4060 ti- 4070 is your cards
4080S is always under 300W and normally around 280w. Thats as efficient as u get for the massive performance. Its architecture is built very well. Actually prob the best from power draw standpoint this generation
