So impressed you figured out how to build this. I love it!
Thanks! It was a good team effort with you putting up with me working on it so much.
Looks good, perfect for your little family. Have fun in the outdoors
Also, maybe building some more like you said to have a rental business like about 6 or so
Awesome! Been thinking bout doing this to my lawn mower trailer that just sits in the yard doing nothing anymore. Great job and thanks for sharing!
Thanks James! A little lawn mower trailer for a build like this would be perfect. Thanks for watching and subscribing. I will be posting more videos on how I built my trailer in the coming weeks and months.
Great job. Great you doing this as a family. Great boy you got. Keep teaching him about camping and survival
Thanks Marius! We love getting outdoors with our little one!
Super excited! Im just about to start on mine! 5x8 deck with no storage compartment in the back. Looks like you guys have a great setup! Enjoy it!
Good luck!!
Great work on the camper and such a cute little boy!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Thank you Karl!
Really nice job. It looks great!
Happy anniversary! Great video. Enjoy the memories!
Thanks Jacob!
Love it I have a trailer at home and I'm getting the itch to build one. Thanks for the inspiration and sharing your build
Of course! Thanks for watching. Let me know if you have any questions.
Totally awesome, make it a muffin top on the sides and extend it over the tounge some more for extra space.
Real nice camper-trailer rig you two built! Awesome! Appreciate you sharing!
Thank you for watching and subscribing!
Great build! Nothing better than camping with your family.
Thanks Paul! Seriously nothing better.
So glad I found this video! I JUST bought a utility trailer yesterday for my camper build project and this is almost exactly what i want to build. I might be reaching out with some (a lot) of questions! Nice job on the build.
Nick, that is awesome. It's going to be a blast building your camper! Feel free to ask as many questions as you'd like. I will be making some videos in the coming weeks detailing some of my processes. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Nick, did you ever end up building your camper? I made a couple of upgrades and posted a new tour video. Let me know if you have any questions about anything that I did. ruclips.net/video/Jnsc1BzkB5s/видео.html
Super simple (in a good way), plus clean and uncluttered. Pure. I like this design and will put plastic scuffliner skids on the bottom, so I can slide it on & off, to still be able to use my base for a utility trailer.
Great idea! Do you know where you will get your skids?
@@FunkeAdventures you can use 4x4 on the bottom and it slides so easy if you do that
Nice work, the little ones blue eyes are adorable :)
Very nice looking trailer! something to consider for cold weather camping is a Lavaner 2K diesel heater! You don't want to use a propane heater because of the moisture it puts out has the potential for mold and wood rot!
Thanks Alan! I've heard of those heaters. I will have to look into them. I was planning on using a USB heat blanket during the winter. Then I can run it off of my battery and have it be solar powered.
Great build. Congratulations looks like you all will be enjoying that.
We enjoy it so much! Thanks for watching.
Great build, would be perfect for the guy who hunts fishes in out of the way spots. I prefer a hard side camper vs a wall tent as when the winds pick up the canvas flapping can make for a sleepless night. I hunt remote locations for coyote and predators with my decoy dogs this would be a good match for me and my dog's.
Thanks Shann! We slept in it during a windy night at capitol reef in Utah and it was great! Thanks for watching!
Nice job guys! Enjoy your adventures in God's great big beautiful natural world.
Great job mate it looks amazing
Building one to put on my flatbed on my Dakota! Thank you for the idea!
That will be awesome! Thank you for watching and subscribing. It means a lot to us! Be sure to share some pictures of your build and send any questions our way. We would love to help in any way if possible!
Love it, great build! I want to build another as well, I know the feeling.
I feel like I learned so much from this build. While I love our little camper, I feel like the next one will be 10x better.
Great job! Super simple design.
Thanks for watching Dan!
Awesome job. You have inspired me to build my own. Thank you
Bad ass camper! Looks military grade 😉
It’s just missing a turret. Great video
Thanks J D! Maybe the next build will have a turret?
I'm sold on this DIY trailer build idea, and aesthetically this has a cool and rugged look. Well done. Hope to see a step by step on your next build @Funke Family Adventures
That camper is awesome!! Nice job
Thanks Brian! I appreciate you watching our video!
Hey mate I have replaced my cig points with Anderson plugs. No more worrying about plugs working loose.
Looks great.
Great Job! Very impressed!!
Thank you!
Very good! You are very humble. Like your project. Simple is best!
Thanks for the support Hoke! We hope you enjoy our channel!
You have the right idea about life.

Cozy !
Nice clean build .
Thanks so much! It was a fun build. Thanks for sticking around our channel and subscribing. We hope to make some videos of the entire build process he in the coming months. Thanks again!
Great build, well done!
Thanks for watching Zach. Build process videos are coming soon!
Cool trailer, cute kiddo:)
Baby noises are always worth it. Looks great.
Thank you Sarah! We appreciate the support.
Like it, Im building a similar trailer with more windows and a full kitchen in the back.
That will be seriously sweet. Will it have sink and refrigerator?
Awesome build thumbs up to u bro 👍🏻
Thank you!
Man, this is awesome! 👍
What a lovely family you are, two really nice people and an adorable baby boy and his ever watchful canine sibling.
Your compact travel nest is very nicely constructed and having the option of demounting it from the trailer adds versatility to both the nest and the trailer!
I've subscribed to support your channel and may I respectfully suggest that you improve your audio capture as it is almost impossible to hear what is being said in the video.
This is not criticism, simply an observation.
Very Well Done to the videographer whom managed to record the video footage whilst simultaneously taking care of your adorable little imp, true multitasking!
Felix, thank you so much for the suggestions! Constructive criticism is always highly encouraged. I made the mistake of lowering the audio on this video in the editing process. Oops, I definitely should have left it up high. My wife is a super hero and multitasking extraordinaire! We filmed this on our little DJI Osmo Pocket, which is super handy and allows for smooth footage, even when a baby is fighting to grab the camera, haha! But it might not be the best for audio capture. Thanks again!
Hi Felix, I wanted to thank you for your support and suggestion for improved audio. I just posted a new tour video with better audio. I hope you enjoy! ruclips.net/video/Jnsc1BzkB5s/видео.html
Thank You! =Cosmo
Good looking plywood tent 👍
Haha, might as well be a tent made of gold.
BRILLIANT
Ficou top parabéns 👏👏👏👏🇧🇷
Nice build!
Thanks Micky!
Good job! Impressive!
Thanks so much!
Very well done brother 🤙🇦🇺
Thank you Benji! I appreciate the support!
Looks professionally built.
I would mount a spare tire & make sure your truck tire change equipment will work on the trailer.
Strang, great suggestions! After this video I mounted the spare on the tongue. Before that, I just had it in the bed of my truck. And it is always a great idea to make sure all of the tire change equipment is fit for the tire change on the truck and the trailer. Thanks for the reminder!
Thanks for watching and subscribing!
well done! great video
Thank you so much! We appreciate all of the support. Looking forward to making more & better content!
Very nice. Greetings from Holland
Thank you Marco! Cheers to you in Holland!
Excelente proyecto. Tenemos algo parecido.
Great build. I'm currently building one too.
Sweet! I'd love to see some photos!
@@FunkeAdventures thanks. I'll do a video of the progress this weekend.
Nice job!
Thanks Snaerffer! We appreciate the support!
This is the direction I was looking to go with my trailer. Kinda like a slide-in for a truck bed. That would give me the ability to take it off and use the trailer for other things. However, I don't want the little side doors. I would rather have a large back door so that large items can be hauled to a campsite and removed once there. Much like a miniature toy hauler. I have folding tables, a gas grill, and such so the back hatch area is not necessary for me. Also my trailer has 2-foot tall sides so that style door probably wouldn't work for me anyway. I'd be interested in seeing how you wired everything in a future video
Ray, thanks so much for checking out our channel. We really appreciate the support!
I can see how that build would work great for what you are looking for. I will be filming the entire build process while I build another trailer in the next couple of months. So those might help you out a bit.
Thanks again, Cheers!
Good video, I've been uploading build videos on my squaredrop (in construction) - getting some more shots and explanation of your back galley door and how you built it would be great.
Here is the video explaining the build of the back door. ruclips.net/video/q51PpD3vBlc/видео.html
Офигено. Ни чего лишнего. Молодец. Отличный кемпер
Спасибо за поддержку!
cool build!
Thanks for watching!
Nice rig.
Thanks Dave!
Great job.,.
Thanks for watching and subscribing Donn!
Nice build.
Thank you!
I want one so bad but my carpentry skills are subpar lol 😂 . Love this brother 👍🏻. I do wish there was someone who could just build these and offer them for 7-8k
Great job 👏
That would be awesome. I wish I could build them and sell them that cheap, but materials are SO expensive right now. Hopefully, the cost of materials will go down soon. I am planning on selling some at the $10k range.
Also, thank you for watching the video and subscribing to the channel. If you change your mind about building your own, I will be posting some detailed videos of the build process. Thanks MrBrew!
Well done
Thanks for watching and subscribing Ronald!
Nice camper
Thanks mike! We appreciate all of the support.
Nice job ...

Bad ass!!
Great video and amazing family. Can you let me know how you sealed and or painted the bottom of your camper pod? Also is it on skid to remove it off the trailer? Thanks so much.
Awesome
Thanks for watching Stephen!
Hey I'm in Ogden too! If you ever plan on building another one let me know I'd be happy to learn
Nice, I am building another one now. I'll be putting videos up detailing the whole process. Thanks for watching!
@@FunkeAdventures did you sell this one?
Nope, I still have it. I recently refinished a few parts for it. It had aluminum siding now, and a fold down bunk for our kid or dog. I also cut the metal rim around the trailer off and reinforced the trailer frame for strength.
If you don't mind how is the camper attached to the trailer? Awesome job too !!
Totally going to steal this idea. Curious would spray insulation work better in your opinion?
I am not super familiar with spray foam, but I would assume it would work at least as good. Thanks for watching!
This looks very well crafted. How many people could we cram in there if we would like to play some Nintendo classic super smash brothers?
We could get 4 in there, easy. but if we move it under the awning, the possibilities are endless.
Watched your later build videos before I found this one. I'm more interested in this type of removable camper that attaches to a multi-purpose utility trailer. I'm curious how hard it was to move on and off the trailer. How much did the camper part weight, not counting the trailer? And if you did another removable one like this, what would you have done differently? Do you have any pictures of the attachment system? I've also seen a wide variety of wall and ceiling designs, ranging from a simple plywood box with little internal framing or support and no insulation to ones that are almost built like tiny houses. Having built a couple, how much of that do you think is really necessary, especially for those not interested in camping in extremely hot or cold conditions? Thanks and keep the videos coming. You're doing good work.
It ended up being kind of difficult to get on and off of the trailer. If you had a forklift or a tractor with forks, it would be a lot easier. But my method of pulling it on and off wasn't great.
Without insulation, the camper acts more like a tent. Less protection from the elements, but still comfortable. For me, insulation is necessary (kids and camping in cold climates). The framing in mine is mostly adding space for insulation and wiring.
Thanks for watching. I appreciate the support!
If you build another one PLEASE record the whole process in depth for us!!!
Your wish is my command! I will be starting to build 2 more campers near the end of March and I will be documenting the whole process. Let me know if there is anything in particular you have questions about. Be sure to subscribe to see the new videos as they come out. Thank you for watching Monty!
Excellent work! I'm curious about the raptor liner and how that worked out for your project. Specifically, how many cans, did you spray or roll/brush it on, how's it holding up? Thanks!
J, thanks so much for watching. I am going to make a video about this soon, but I would not suggest putting raptor liner on a wood substrate. It needs to be applied to fiberglass or metal. Wood expands and contracts in different weather and that has led to the raptor liner cracking in spots. I am currentloy working to resurface the camper in aluminum sheets.
Thanks for the question.
@@FunkeAdventures I know you probably didn't want it White but it would have prevented a lot of that shrinkage and expansion where the excess heat from the sun is involved. Nice build 👍
Hey man this thing is awesome. I’m taking a few of your ideas to put on my trailer. I’m building on an 8x12 trailer and building an 8x8 sleeping with a full kitchen on the side and I was wanting to know how you did the rear door I’m trying to figure out the best way to hinge it and seal it.
I am going to make a video in the coming weeks showing how I built the rear door, along with the supplies I used for it.
Hi , you can watch the video of how i built the rear door here: ruclips.net/video/q51PpD3vBlc/видео.html
Thanks for the video ive really enjoyed them. How did you attach the body to the frame of the trailer?
Great question! I used a piece of 3 inch steel flatbar on each corner. One end is bolted to the trailer and the other is bolted to the trailer.
This is so legit!! About how much did it cost you start to finish?
Thanks Chase! I probably spent about $3500 start to finish. It could be done cheaper. The doors themselves were $800-900 and the trailer was brand new for $1400. So that is a huge part of the budget there. Probably about 100 hours.
Lovely job, can you give the full dimensions of the box itself, I know you said that trailer is 5x8 but I'm sure the camper box is slightly smaller.
The exact exterior dimensions are 58 1/2" wide, 48" tall, 8 ft long.
Just wondering what the weight of the unit is off the trailer and combined with trailer please. Great camper build!!! 😎👍
Hi , thank you very much for making this video. I just bought the same shape brand new unit. It's got a lot of issues because I don't want to say it wasn't so well built but maybe not :-) I want to take pictures and share them with you...if that's ok. Just your suggestions for some problem spots I think I have. Mine is a 4x8 so I just bought a full memory foam mattress and I'm going to cut it down. I've got it covered up on my patio right now it's too hot to work on anything in Florida. I'm waiting till about October to get out there and finish the interior. I can't wait to get your opinion on what you think.
I'd be happy to take a look. Do you have instagram? That is probably the best way to send me a direct message with photos. You can find me on instagram @aaronfunke
Thank you very much. I will check it out
I like the simplicity on this build. What is the foot print dimension of the trailer?
Thanks so much! We appreciate the support. The trailer bed is 5 ft x 8 ft.
Nice trailer. I would consider a swing out cabinet for the kitchen area with a sink and stove. Any build video or plans available. I was just telling my son about doing something like this with my 5x8 trailer.
Thanks for watching Bradley. I’m in it!
@@FunkeAdventures Looks like you are in Ogden, I lived in Layton/Kaysville for many years and now in St George. If you are in the area let me know I would love to check out the trailer in person.
I just seen this other video and they had a trifold memory foam bed that doubled as a couch.
I’ve seen some of those. I think that could be great if you wanted a lounge space in your camper.
Thanks for watching our video Mary! We have made some updates to this camper and even built another one. You can check those out on our channel. Thanks again!
Hey man way cool trailer, I’m getting to the end of building one of my own. I was wondering where you’re at for weight? Also is yout trailer frame angle, channel or square tube?
still need to do an official weigh of the finished trailer. But if I had to guess, probably around 1200 lbs. The trailer is made of square tubing. I purchased the flatbed trailer from Workhorse Trailers in Ogden UT.
Weighed today, empty. And it was 1360 lbs dry.
This is all I need. I'm going to start my project mid Jan 22. Which plywood do you recommend??
Great question James! I used 3/4 inch plywood on the outside. I probably could have got away with 1/2 inch, but the 3/4 gives me great peace of mind. It is VERY sturdy. On my next build, I won't use any plywood for the interior walls and instead, I will use an FRP board for the interior walls.
Thanks for watching and for the support!
I have an old trailer that I’m gonna go ahead and donate to a camper build. I am interested in knowing what you did for wall, ceiling, and floor internal bracing. Thanks. P.S. Nice Build
Thanks for watching Alan! All of the internal bracing/studs are with 1x2 or 2x2 pieces of wood. The front & back walls and floor are framed up with 2x2. The side walls and roof are framed up with 1x2.
Do you think you could add a hot water on demand system in the back for a quick outdoor shower. Seems like you could have a larger water tank and could potentially double or triple your electric capacity as well as roof top panel
I am planning on having a solar shower that I build. Just haven't got around to it. I love the idea of on demand hot water, but don't think I will invest the $$$ into it on this build. Maybe I will add that on the next one I build. When I build my DIY solar shower, I will make a video showing how I build it.
@@FunkeAdventures looking forward to it
This is awesome, do you have any photos from the build? Trying to figure out how to frame it, I’m going to go with this exact design.
Charles, I wish I had taken more photos. I don't really have many. I actually put up my exterior walls first and then built my framing on the inside of those walls. It might not be the best way to do it, but it was the easiest. Thanks for watching!
@@FunkeAdventures thanks man! I’m going to start here shortly, hopefully within the next two weeks. Might need some pointers from the pro!
@@charlesbransoniii58 Well I don't know how pro I am, but I'm happy to help! haha You can find me on instagram @aaronfunke and DM me with any questions.
Great build. Another raptor liner question. You mentioned some cracking of raptor liner finish when applied directly over wood. Do you think if the wood shell was fiberglassed first that would have prevented the cracking?
I definitely think that would help. I’ve seen another company building them that way and they said it works fine.
Here is the new camper finished with aluminum instead of raptor liner: ruclips.net/video/Jnsc1BzkB5s/видео.html
Great job! How much does it weigh and what is the tongue weight?
Nice job. Looking into doing this. Did you make any modifications to your trailer? 3500 pound axle? Flip it, bigger tires, etc? My Jeep is lifted and I'm thinking I'd like my trailer to sit up higher and have bigger tires for better highway driving as well..
Thanks for watching and subscribing Matt! I didn’t make many modifications to the trailer. The company I purchased it from had an upgraded option with a 3500 lb axel and radial tires. I took the back gate/ramp off of the trailer.
It wouldn’t be too hard to lift the trailer a bit with different tires and wheels. You’d just have to make sure the new tires fit in the wheel well.
