  • Easy step by step video of how to finger knit an infinity scarf. For me, it's a little harder to grasp the idea of what I'm trying to learn while watching someone work facing the opposite direction, so I recorded this showing my hands in the same perspective and position as yours would be, making it easier to follow along.
    I used two 4 oz skeins of Lion Brand Hometown USA #6 Chunky Yarn in Aspen Tweed

    It's 4 am and I couldn't sleep sooo I went looking for something to help me get sleepy but instead this makes me want to get started knitting so, thanks a lot. Really though, I love this! Thank you for posting this. I am going to make me one. xox

    This was so easy. I'm going to try it. I believe I mastered the arm knitting or crocheting (except I keep leaving one or two big loops 🤔). Thanks for sharing the details.

    THANK YOU for doing this video from this perspective. I am a tactile person, or hands-on, and I have trouble when someone shows me how to do something like knitting, I can't turn it around to my perspective. My brain won't do it. So, this PERFECT! Also, I appreciate the fact that while using a lighter yarn, you didn't use a lighter background. That drives me crazy as it is very hard to see when both match up. The dark background really helps. I have 2 friends whose bdays are coming up and I was going to arm knit them both a scarf. I don't like how loose arm knitting is or I can't quite ever get the stiches tight enough. Too many BIG holes. After watching your video and finger knitting, think you have solved my problem!

    Can I just use a big kniting needle . And what size (mm) do you recommend /is equivelent to a finger ?

    • @DKCGamerGirl
      @DKCGamerGirl 5 лет назад +2

      For super chunky yarn, you typically want somewhere between size 11 and 17 needles, depending on how tight you want to loops to look.

      Thank you! Before I started knitting, I took a single peice of yarn and wrapped around my neck twice to see roughly how long I wanted my scarf to be and where I wanted it to lay. Then I measured the yarn with a tape measure. I made this one about 60"... 😊

      If finite finger function is difficult you can finger knit btwn 2 fingers just in the same way a person knits with the same results. If that isnt possible then it is possible 2 crochet using a universal cuff which straps around your hand it has a small slot through which a fork or spoon or larger crochet hook could go. Use you teeth to adjust the strap. Then use the crochet hook to wind the yarn btwn the fingers of your other hand for tension. Even if all u can create is a chain. Those chains can add up 2 a nice looking project if made with a vry chunky super thick yarn. Get redy for a shoulder work out because by not using your hands you have to compensate with moving your shoulder and wrist. Your rotator cuff muscles will hate u but eventually u will get good at it.

    • @mandythomas8023
      @mandythomas8023  7 лет назад +1

      I would recommend hand washing. If the scarf if woven tight enough it might be ok on a gentle cycle but Ive never taken the chance. Thanks for watching 😊

      After hand washing u will want to dry it by gently pressing it against the side of he sink or tub then roll it up in a towel and step/stand/hop on it. The towel wicks most of the moisture away.

    It’s just like knitting on needles then, why not with needles. This is tough plus yr hands r tied up fully.the other finger knitting is easy.

    Is this yarn super soft? Would love to know the softest yarns (picky about picky woolens ;) )

    • @mandythomas8023
      @mandythomas8023  7 лет назад

      Cashmere wool is one of my favorites but can be pretty pricey. The yarn I use here is very nice, especially for the price! Also, look for yarn that is geared toward making baby blankets. So soft and usually very affordable. 😊

    • @nicolemarie6273
      @nicolemarie6273 7 лет назад +1

      Thank you, Mandy. I picked up alpaca yarn because it felt so soft. :) I'm sure cashmere wool feels wonderfully soft, too. I do want to pick a soft economical one so I can make more items! I will look for the one in the video. and for baby blankets - great idea! Thanks again.

    why you do not grab the needles is much easier than with just the finger, beside I think it hurts

      Lol.. Not a whole lot of things harder than math in my opinion. haha. This really is pretty easy. Once you get the hang of it, you don’t even have to watch your hands work. It took several attempts to get it but now I make them while I’m watching TV.

    She's doing something with the fingers that the loops are going on that's why it's difficult she's not showing that part..

    • @DKCGamerGirl
      @DKCGamerGirl 5 лет назад +1

      She's showing everything she is doing. This is exactly the same as knitting with needles, so, if you have a basic understanding of stockinette stitch (only knitting, without purling), you shouldn't have any trouble with this. It's just using your fingers as the needles.

    If you are going to do stockinette why use your fingers and other instruments, just use a couple of needles!
