Emgo, it blows my mind how close to the masterpiece quality these toys are. Hasbro knows what their doing making these WFC toys. With the box art and how close these toys resemble their G1 look and with no nonsense gimmicks its clear these toys are aimed at adults.
I must say, I was lucky enough to have gotten this figure for Christmas from my sister, I was looking for it, or at least a G1'y soundwave, for a while and she got me this particular figure. I'm glad that you were able to find it as well, I definitely feel that it's a good figure, and a great soundwave.
That folding gun is one of the reasons I wanted Soundwave, because it can be used to give melee weapons longer handles so they can be two-handed. Soundwave himself is great too. I prefer the boom box alt mode to the flying brick thing.
Like an idiot I passed on it. I grabbed A 2nd SIEGE/ EARTH RISE- "Netflix" Optimus, because it had the G1 Toy paint job (Sucker).. Why didn't I just grab both!? Now I can't find Netflix Soundwave anywhere! An All I see is the Netflix Optimus, SMH. Agggh!

Best use of the unfolding gun is to use it as a handle for other weapons. You can make a great looking sledgehammer by extending the handle of Soundwave's Blaster.
I absolutely love how his transformation is very reminiscent of the G1 mold. Of course its not exact but Legs, arms, and even his head go in the exact same spot as the G1 does. Too bad the guns don't get stored like batteries.
So glad you got him! He is a great toy. I love this version. Soundwave and Megatron from this series are some of the best looking versions of both characters as far as toys go in aloooooong time.
Such a fantastic update of this figure. I was lucky as all get out to find him in the wild; it's such a dang shame he wound up as a limited exclusive, everyone who collects generations should have access to this guy. If a 3p company ever makes a set of piledrivers for Rumble/Frenzy the G1 display for him will be just about perfect.
As loyal as Soundwave is to Megatron, I kinda wonder what it would take for Soundwave to either betray Megs/abandon the Decepticon war effort all together??🤔
I wish they had gotten rid of that arm kibble to give him a wrist rransformation like Optimus Prime, but I'm still really happy with the way he looks overall :) Can't wait to pick him up when I find him, hopefully soon
I love Soundwave... and yes he’s an animal lover 😄. Two things that do really bother me with these WFC toys is how “toy-ish” they really are with the hollow areas in limbs and the ball and t-joints that come apart too easily. So the alternative is to go MP and/or KO, I guess. What I DO like about WFC toys is they are usually available at my local Walmart and Target stores and that their robot and disguise modes are much better looking than the older TF’s. But I do miss my original Laserbeak. I had him before he became such a star on the show. Soundwave came with Buzzsaw but Laserbeak came with Frenzy in a two-pack. 🤓
I got this as soon as I could, I don't regret it. Especially since I got the Spy Pack or whatever they called it with Doubledealer's engines, Rumble (yes, Rumble is blue to me, fight me), and Soundwave's action master (who has a terribly inaccurate color scheme). I just wish he had a better way to store the weapons, the gap between the arms should do that, but instead they kept the landing gear from his Siege counterpart. I'm happy though we've FINALLY got a non-MP cassette player Soundwave again, I've waited for something like this for so long. A fun idea I do with this Soundwave is take that grey gun and combine it with the other two and turn them into a manga guard-styled staff from Star Wars while the Cassettes act as shields. Edit: Also, I have the same shoulder issue and the problems with getting Lazerbeak on his arm, it seems to be mold-inherent

Soundwave is Best Dad. I do wish they'd remolded his forearms to not have the kibble from his Siege version, as well as to get rid of the over-greebling, but it's still a very nice Soundwave. Someday, though, I'll pull the trigger on the MP of him.
the gaps in the forearms is disappointing as well as the lack of paint in certain areas. but other aspects really shine and they got me with the light piping. yes, i enjoy well executed light piping.

I've bought this online on December at Walmart, for $39.99 plus taxes. Sold out ever since, but the price changes everytime. Yesterday they had it for $74.99. Today there's no more and was listed for $44.
I recently got the Dhattered Glass version and had to watch this because I had no idea what the things under is arms were and nothing in the instructions pointed out what they were. So thank you for clearing that up for me. One thing I did notice was that in this video and the space ship one you had used the peg to hold Laser Beak into place. I saw on mine that the feet clip in and was wondering if that's new to the Shattered glass mold or was missed in the review. I wish I could add a photo for clarification.

You know, when Prime got retooled to have the '84 design, I initially said, "Well, okay. But the Siege one is close enough. I'm good." Buuuuuut then I saw it in person. I still didn't buy it right away, but I did eventually buy one. I feel kind of the same way about Soundwave. I don't mind the Siege one at all, but I know I'll wind up with this one if I see it in a store.
If it was a Titanmaster Starscream, he could be ahead! First time for everything, right? Anyway, I am so glad they gave up on the stupid "battle damage" paint before releasing this - Siege Soundwave looked HORRIBLE due to the over-applied "cracks and scratches."
This toy was a hassle to find and even then it sold faster than the bumblebee figure. And that was only available one per assortment. If you’re able to find it at retail price in-store then I highly recommend getting it. Otherwise don’t get it at the scalpers price. It’s not worth it and you could have use the money to buy an MP Or a 3rd-party Soundwave. That’s my two cent for the day.
I hope they eventually release his other minions Rumble, Frenzy, and Ratbat for this Soundwave.

Megatron's right, Laserbeak never failed his missions I've been keeping track of them in the G1 cartoons.
I was told Soundwave's 2nd gun was meant to be plugged onto Megatron's back to look like the Barrel of his Walther Pistol mode, in G1 Homage.

Still regret it? They released the Legacy version with this mold but cartoon accurate colors. Besides, this one discolors over time.
What's the best red paint to use one this toy. One minor nitpick I have about this toy is that Soundwave had a red strip around his arms.
