She had an abdominal injury from the last tournament. Perhaps that might be the reason. She played two great matches and won them. Show some grace. I hope you never struggle to get back to something you once did easily and people tell you to just give up or you are a waste.

Not a shame, she lacks variety only relies on her baseline ground strokes makes her weak in long runs!

I feel bad for Naomi, she was playing so well for this leg of the season. She'll be one to watch for the spring hardcourt season in the U.S. Injuries suck but she has taken down some MAJOR scalps this tournament already. She should be proud. She had to pull out from last week's final that she was in. I was surprised she played at all here let alone get two wins against former top 5 players.

I am still hopeful for Naomi Osaka's redemption era wherein every time she plays, she plays magnificently through rounds and rounds and rounds of competitive tennis and reaches the finals and sooner win the whole tournament.
    Get well soon, Naomi!

Osaka literally stopped playing in the 1st set & she was so far ahead. I wonder what is ailing her? Hope she’s ok.

Hmmmm, another walk over. Agree, looks like Osaka only has a couple of good matches in her tank per tournament before her body says no more, time to retire?

Maybe Osaka should focus on being just a mother because it must be hard when you've been world number 1 to spend the rest of your career injured, out of shape, mentally drained and a shadow of your former self. Let's be honest she has not the mental strength to deal with fame and the pressure of being on the tour full time. She should do like Barty, that would make her life happier I think.

Not sure if you watched the match but clearly Osaka was so out of reach in the 1st set then literally she stopped playing. Sounds like her opponent must have had the wrong #. 🤷🏽

Better to retire instead of going off in mid match. She has already lost the momentum when she takes off a long pause. Tennis is physical and mentally demanding sport.

NO needs to add variety to her game to save energy! Otherwise, this is going to happen often.

There’s a retirement every tournament in the WTA it feels like. Venus went over a decade without retiring. In fact I don’t think she retired since that Petkovic 3R match in AO 2011. What a weak era.

Yea. If it was the abdominal pains as suspected she should have stayed out there & possibly killed over to satisfy your desire to see the whole match. How selfish of her. Who told her she can get ill? Unacceptable.
