    Plus with the Gatwick long haul fleet the staff are a lot nicer than the Heathrow long haul staff

      That's a good point actually! I never thought of that, but you're absolutely right! I guess that's down to BA's flights at Gatwick going to more leisurely places (basically hot countries haha)

    Great review! I think you could sell ice to an eskimo 😂 I haven’t flown on the old BA business only on the new club world suite. However after watching this I wouldn’t be so concerned if I ended up in the old club world suite!!

    Completely agree with you. I too really like the old product. Great when flying with a partner or friend and your legs are completely unrestricted when seat is turned into a bed. However the aisle seat not as good as the window seat. Great review. Have liked and subscribed

      Thank you for your comment, Robbie 😊 And I'm really glad to hear you also like the old product! Exactly, it really is great that you can fly with a partner or friend right next to you, but still be in your own private space with no restrictions when lying flat. Many of the newest business seats still fall short in those regards. You're certainly right about the aisle seat... I feel bad not letting my girlfriend try the window seat now! Haha. Thanks Robbie 😁

    Great review , I do see that it has some down points but it’s still a nice business class product with great food and drinks , one thing I love about BA is the cabin crew are up there with the best in the world so so polite and courteous of course my own personal opinion. BA are getting more and more positive reviews of late and that’s great to hear as I’m passionate about my home country . Thanks again and so wonderful to see you both back 👍

      Thank you! Glad you like it 😁 You're absolutely right, it is still a nice business class, albeit with some negative points. Many write it off but I think it's still a solid product! 😊 Ah yes, the cabin crew! Can never go wrong with BA cabin crew - they sure are fantastic. Without them, BA would be totally different. It sure is great to hear that they are returning to their best again. Great to hear that you're passionate about 🇬🇧, same here! 😁👍🏻 Thank you again and thanks for sticking with me and being patient!

    I remember when it was first introduced. The flat bed was such an improvement over the traditional business class seat that the benefits far outweighed the minor issues. I did a lot of long haul travel and the best seats were upstairs on the 747-400. Much more space and plenty of storage. 64A & K were my favourites as you did not have to climb over your neighbour's feet to get out! Of course the central two side by side seats had to be avoided at all costs when travelling alone!!
    I still go on those aging Gatwick 777s for holidays and still enjoy the benefits of sitting next to my wife.

      Fascinating to hear your experience about when this seat was first introduced. I can't imagine when it must have been like to fly in this when it first came out - the peak of luxury travel! Ah yes, the Queen of the Skies. With the storage bins running along the side, right? They were amazing! You wouldn't hear any more complaints about the storage with this seat had those storage bins been implemented fleet-wide. Wow, seats 64 A and K sound amazing - basically strips out every complaint about the seat (no climbing over your neighbour and the storage!
      It's great to hear you still enjoy flying in it today for your holidays and that, like me, enjoy the advantage of being able to sit next to your partner without being a whole suite away from them. And there's always the privacy divider if you've had enough! Haha.
      Thank you for sharing your experience 😁 Wonderful to read.

    Only flown Emirates business class before, both on the 777 and the A380 so it’s great to see how these compare to BA. Will defo try it some day.

      Wow, that's not a bad airline to have only had your business class experiences with! 🤩 Haha. I really want to try Emirates' business class some day! The A380 experience must have been incredible! Be prepared to lower your expectations when it comes to BA... they are great, don't get me wrong, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it, but they certainly lag behind the middle eastern airlines.

    Nice review. Agree with the storage problem. It seems they didn't factor in the lack of access to the drawer while the seat is fully flat. But the design was a novel concept when first introduced.

    • @travelswithbieber
      @travelswithbieber  Месяц назад +1

      Thank Ben! 😊 Yep, such a shame because if the storage problem was solved, it wouldn't be anywhere near as disliked as it is today. You're right, it was the first ever flat bed wasn't it? Pretty amazing in that case!

    Top video, and I agree that it's a good way to travel. My only issue was with the cabin temperature; which was too warm for sleeping comfortably (in my opinion). Everything else was fine and I'll probably fly that way again (if I'm using Gatwick). I also agree on the lounge situation in some American terminals, even very new ones. It seems to be cheaper to apologise and issue some goodwill compensation than actually fix the problem.

    • @travelswithbieber
      @travelswithbieber  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks Steve! Really glad you enjoyed it. Ah, interesting point re: cabin temperature. I didn't notice it being an issue during my flight, but I can totally see that being a problem. It's frustrating when you don't have individual air nozzles to regulate the temperature to your liking. Glad to hear I'm not alone in my thinking on American lounges. I really do wish they took lounges more seriously over there. Thanks again for your comment! 😊

    Very nice video. For families, partners, friends the yin-yang arrangement is fine. For solo travellers it's awful. I much prefer the newer BA Club World seats (or other airlines). My problems with the old seat are it's narrow, poor storage, power point very inaccessible, foot rest flimsy and no direct aisle access for window seats (with a few exceptions). Of course it was innovative - but that was 20 years ago. Innovation has to continue! The BA FAs are pretty much always top notch.
