Just because Pedro Pascal is spanish doesn’t mean he’s not white. His nationality has nothing to do with it. He absolutely looks the part. He really does look like a comic accurate version of Richard’s. Love the casting!

I've seen so many people codemning Pedro's casting based soley on the fact that John Krasinski didn't get the role. Some are even claiming that Kevin Feige refuses to cast John. Which I find hilarious since John Krasinski has gone on record about how he doesn't wanna commit to a multipicture deal. He's a very busy actor and director. If I'm not mistaken he was so busy they had to film him and the other Illuminati cast members seperately in Multiverse of Madness.

Let’s get one thing straight though, Ioan Gruffard was a great Reed Richards. He’s absolutely the best we’ve had by far.

Pedro is definetly a White-passing Hispanic, and my fellow Mesoamericans know that Hispanics come with Dark-skinned as well. I think Pedro doesn't give off Manic-Scientist that obsesses over details and has control issues like Krasinski was. Marvel should've made sure to get him because I think Pedro isn't the best choice for Reed Richards.

Regarding the age difference: actors often play characters that are a few years away from their actual age. So if RR is 45 and Sue is 39, that’s not a big gap at all.
Even if there is a 12-year age gap between them, why is that an issue?

Just because most characters in comics never age doesn’t mean that’s not how the world works. So if you do continuous story telling, the SHOULD age along.
Lol on a related note about age, Sean Connery was 12 years older than Harrison Ford and they played father and son in Last Crusade.

They don't want the roles. Emily his been turning down roles since the MCU started. And John has already stated that he doesn't wanna commit to any longterm deals. His casting in Multiverse of Madness was done as a way to please the fans. It was a 1 and done deal.

Pedro is super charismatic in Narcos too, there’s a reason they made him the main character in season 3 despite the real Javier Peña not being part of that storyline. I’m sure the chemistry between these 4 is perfect, thus why they waited to announce them together, they are aiming for the family feel that the previous movies lacked.
I'll interrupt this echo chamber. Pascal doesn't resemble Mr. Reed Richard's in any way. Ioan Gruffudd and John Krasinski were very close. The square shaped or oblong shaped head resemble the character perfectly. Which is why when the two actors portrayed Mr. Fantastic there no complaints.

They did white Richard’s and it DID work. Nobody was complaining about Miles or Ioan. FF2015 sucked because there was no heart in it and there was a lot of changes in that one. FF2005 is good for its time, it was well casted, script was okay. It wasn’t perfect but it was enjoyable. But my point being, Reed’s casting was NEVER the issue. So to say “they did white Richard’s and it didn’t work” is simply false. They did FF and it did work to an extent in 2005 seeing as how they greenlit a sequel, and didn’t work in 2015.
The movie was cute but it success or failure had nothing to do with how white Reed was. Same with Fan Four Stick, that movie being terrible or amazing had nothing to do with MBJ being black
Might just be me, but with Iger coming back and the writers and actors strike has benefited Feige a lot. And we might get another round of great MCU content.
I don't get this "he is too old" thing. People are acting like Pedro Pascal can't walk. If people can accept Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange or Paul Rudd as Ant-Man they should be able to accept Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards...
Terrible comparisons. Benedict Cumberbatch was in his late 30s when he got cast as Doctor Strange, Paull Rudd was in his mid 40s. Pedro’s almost 50 about to enter this role, I don’t think anyone imagined a 50’s Mr. Fantastic

@@atticus8659 Paul Rud was in movies back to back to back to back with Antman, Civil War, Antman and the Wasp, Endgame. He spent all of his 40s doing those roles. The only year he wasn’t in a movie was 2017 and yes he’s gotten older, but he’s gotten older with the role. To start a franchise at nearly 50 and then knowing full well how long it takes Marvel to make sequels nowadays, by the time we get to F2 he’ll be most likely older than Rudd is after already completing his Antman trilogy. Still not a good comparison.
@@atraina6921 Between FF and FF2 will likely be Avengers 5 & 6 with him in it. He might have a cameo in Spider-Man 4. The FF are going to get the Iron Man treatment moving forward. There's not going to be a 5 year gap between movie appearances.

Honestly it's a pretty solid casting, not sure why people upset about pedro pascal as reed richard, he didn't look like the guy from last of us but he did a damn good job with the live action series

I can definitely see Reed Richards being the face of the MCU going forward. I hope he gets the same treatment as Tony Stark for the 3rd Saga.

I wasn't happy when Pedro was casted as Joel in The Last of Us. Because to me his vibe wasn't similar. But he killed it and 2 seconds in I didn't even think about it again. So I have no doubt he'll do the same with Richards.

When it comes to casting, I've always said I don't care what the actor or actress looks like. I only care about is can the actor who got casted play the role. Christan Bale doesn't look like Bruce Wayne but he ended up playing the best Bruce Wayne in live action. Neve Campbell doesn't look like Raven from Twisted Metal but she played the character really well. The only time I'm picking with looks is when it involves casting for Scooby-Doo. That casting back in 2002 and 2004 was top notch. Other than that, if you can play a character you're casted for, I don't care what you look like.
Personally I just want more of Krasinski in the role. They did him dirty in multiverse of madness.

I'm not sold on Pedro Pascal as Mr Fantastic because I don't see him playing the genius intelligent guy type role. Don't get me wrong I am not saying that Pedro Pascal isn't smart, cause I am sure he is very smart. I just think and as a fan of Pedro Pascal, that he is better suited for the Cowboy/Lone Wolf type roles like he did in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us. I am also not sold on Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman because honestly I do not think that she is that great of an actress and there are other people in my opinion who would have payed the role of Invisible Woman better.
Not sure about this whole Pedro Pascal isn't white thing, he was born in Chile and is of European descent (as with much of the population of Chile).

I am genuinely surprised Pedro is Reed. I would have placed money he’d be Doom. I like him. I do feel he’s a little “too old” for Reed. Not for the character itself. But for the longevity of the movie franchise. It doesn’t help the 13 year age difference between he and Vanessa for that relationship. Happy it’s him. I. Sure he’ll surprise me like Afflec-Batman (my favorite Batman ever).
I think Dr. Strange's joke about the fantastic four "charting in the 60s" in muiltverse of madness is an sign strange has heard something about them.
I am loving this. I sort of hope there are some time travel type thing.. the incident that turns them in to the fantastic 4 propels them (or something) in time. I would love though if they had Reed and Sue at some academic seminar that has Pym, Stark and Xavier all in attendance as well. Just as easter egg type thing but maybe setting things up for the future too.

Firstly Latino/ Hispanic IS NOT A RACE. Like anyone can be American or In Johns case Canadian regardless of race anyone can be Latino/ Hispanic. Second Race is not what binds “Latinos” together it’s the language. Nobody would have an issue if his last name was Milano or Angelopoulos. I was initially annoyed by Pedro Pascal's casting only because I feel like he's oversaturated as an actor these days, appearing in essentially every major production kinda like The Rock and Chris Pratt. But after thinking about it for a bit, I think Pedro Pascal might be the perfect choice for Reed Richards because Marvel is still in desperate need for their new MCU Figurehead(s) which has been vacant since RDJ's Iron Man and Chris Evan's Cap departure in Endgame. Pedro Pascal has the charisma and presence that could very much fill that void RDJ and Chris Evans left and get the MCU back on track.

How can F4 fans complain about the age difference between Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby when there is age gap between Reed Richards and Susan Storm in the comics? Why do I have the suspicion that the age difference isn't the actual issue.

@@MichaelSmith-dk1lc Not really. There is still a 10-year age difference between Reed and Sue, where Reed is supposed in his 40s and Sue is supposed to her 30s.
Originally, I think the age difference was supposed to be bigger with Richards was in 40's and Sue was in her 20's. I don't have an issue with original incarnation (as I think age gap relationships are just deserving of respect as any relationship) but even when they aged up Sue Storm, there is still an age difference between them.

When I was a kid I always pictured Colin Firth as Reed Richards xd. I'm personally fine with Pedro Pascal, however he doesn't give the vibe of being the smartest guy in the room. Obviously when we see him in some official picture in character and wearing the costume I might chage my mind. As for the other two guys I'm ok with them although I haven't seen much of their work. But Vanessa Kirby... YES!! I Think she's a great casting for Sue Storm, I'm glad she got the role

Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm is the only casting that’s been universally applauded it seems, while the others have some divided. And I get it, but I’m optimistic that Pedro, Joseph and Ebon will also blow us away. Marvel rarely misses with their casting.

Didn’t Ebon Moss-Bachrach already play Micro in the punisher, and didn’t they just confirm that the Netflix shows are MCU canon, so would he play two characters in the same universe?
To me that kinda confirms that they won’t be using Micro with Punisher going forward. Also, Marshala Ali was Cottonmouth and now Blade, so idk, guess they’re glossing over it

It isn’t the first time that’s happened. Look at Mahershala Ali, he played cottonmouth in Luke Cage and now he’s playing Blade and Alfred widard played Maria Dillard in Luke Cage and played another character in avengers two and there are several others in the MCU that have played two separate characters. John, it is likely they are going the CA First Avenger way so it would be nice if Reed looked like the 60s RR. The Alex Ross artwork behind you is an hommage to Jack Kirby, it would be great if Alex Ross was part of the project..
I love the potential costumes. The mod fashion with the astronaut pants, go-go boots with the very ‘60s “Dick Van Dyke” sweater. And that they went with the X-Men way of doing costumes, each is a little different but they all look like they belong together. Pascal can 100% play the “smartest person in the world,” Even if they’re not related, one of the cast members being named “Kirby” just feels right. I can already hear “it’s clobberin’ time, assholes” in the accent Bachrach does for Richie. My only question mark is Quinn but that’s b/c I haven’t seen Stranger Things.

I feel that people had their hearts set on John Krasinski, as he played Reid in the MoM film. I would admit, I kind of did as well, but (although I don't care for this expression) it is what it is.

I do think we are getting some over-saturation of Pedro - it's similar to the Sam Worthington over-saturation in the 2000s and Jennifer Lawrence in the 2010s

I liked X-Men First Class due in part to being a 60s period piece so it will be nice to do something like that again with F4

Wasnt the 60's setting confirmed in Dr Strange 2 I believe it was? Dr strange made a comment about the F4 being a music group when Reed Showed up?? pretty sure it was that movie. Also makes me wonder if that Rumor of Mads Mikkelson being Dr Doom was accurate since Doom went to learn sorcery to try and fix his scarred face. It would line up with Kaecillius's story in Dr Stange.
They were an actual music group in the 60s. It was a good Easter egg without fully being an Easter egg

At least they wont have dye the grey into Pedro's hair lol. I don't really see him as reed, but he's good actor. I will keep an open mind and give the movie ample opportunity to convicne me he's reed.

I love Pedro Pascal. Watch him in everything he does. However he just doesn’t seem like the world’s smartest man. Even if I look at a more “serious” role like Last of Us, or the “smartass” in WW82, just doesn’t match with Reed.

The design looks very retro. So 60s/70s setting? The rumors about them being lost in space and somehow ended up in the future might be true after all.
Would be cool if they get to interact with the young Hank Pym, Janet Van Dyne and Bill Foster and maybe even work together in a mission or something

I'm sold on 3/4 of this casting, I'm sorry but Pedro Pascal is a far better "Doom" then he a fit for "Reed" I understand John Krasinski probably didn't want to commit to the contract, however Pascal doesn't stand out as Reed and seeing the art, I'm still not sold. Love that there is going to be a 60's vibe, origin for the Four though I'll be interested to see how they rie this into the MCU without anyone ever mentioning them, maybe there's like a government cover up of the heroes origin?
Pedro almost never plays a villain, what makes you think he would make a good Doom?

@@Bobbybillybillbob idk I picture someone like Cillian Murphy for Doom or someone with real intensity. I feel like there would be so many better choices over Pedro for Doom as opposed to Reed, whereas with Reed, any handsome leading actor in his 30s-40s would do. I think people are overthinking Reed as a character. This to me is like Chris Evans as Cap - everyone doubted it til they saw him in action.

I really love this hot take from Robert! I knew it had a 60s vibe but I thought it was just a style thing. Now I'm starting to think there's more going on. The poster is interesting tbh and the team seems like a decent pick, and this comes from someone who has been disenchanted by Marvel stuff in a good while.
