I'm glad this video is helping people. This same issue has since happened to me again and I figured out the cause. Some glue had dried a bit too much during the clamping and the jaws were held shut while the mechanism opened. That was what allowed the mechanism inside to spread apart enough for the plate to shift out of position.

You’re the man thank you so much. I tried taking mine apart. I have a horrible memory. Everything fell out at once. Found your video. I now have a working clamp again.

Yassss it works! I'm so proud of myself! I took it apart and back together. I used a pair of tweezers to rotate the small silver piece, my fingers were not thin enough. Thank you so much. I was ready to throw the clamp in the trash😡

Thanks for this I have 2 of these clamps and managed to fix both yesterday by following your instructions.I had been really frustrated with them and just left them for quite a while 😂😂

This information is really useful, many thanks for posting. Kreg provides no usage/adjustment/repair information for a nonworking AutoMaxx corner clamp, and until now the only alternatives were to return it or toss it.

Thanks for the video. I was able to fix my clamp. I used two different magnets instead of forcing my fat fingers into the handle. I used a magnet fixed to a pencil sized probe to place the "small plate", the problem plate, then I used a different magnet to hold the small plate in place while placing and adjusting the two larger pieces of the mechanism. The rounded edges of the plate should be towards the wall of the handle.

Great disassembly video! My only complaint, and maybe you can do this, is that no one shows a closeup of the handle to show how that mechanism works when it's working properly. I just received one as a Christmas gift and it doesn't seem to be working properly. At least I have to guess it's not working properly because I can't find a video that shows how the mechanism in the handle is actually supposed to function. In your video the handle is always out of frame when you clamp on something so I can't witness the auto adjusting part in the handle doing its job. Kreg does the same thing in their videos. Is it supposed to move? Mine doesn't and it's brand new. There are so few videos about this tool out there and YOU have been the ONLY one I've found that actually shows how to fix the handle which is AWESOME! Taking the handle apart will definitely mean I can't return it.. so I have a decision to make. Thanks again for your video. Yours is the only one out there.

The whole inner assembly seems to move down in unison but i can't really tell because it's in a tube. If you bang the plastic handle off of it and the plate is sideways this video should show you how to fix it. Also i don't think sliding the handle off would prevent you from returning it.

I ended up exchanging it and the new one works perfectly. But if this one ever gets jammed up, and I've seen others say it happens, I'll be referring back to your video! Thanks again!

How in the world di u just poke the adjuster screw through with your finger. I can't move it for the life of me

    • @technobabble_

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but if it doesn't move at all I'd check to see if maybe it got wet inside and has rusted or something.

@@technobabble_ I think it was a little rusted. I'm just returning it :(. Brand new too many issues
