Met the wonderful Akercocke and Voices chaps at Eistnaflug in Iceland couple of weeks back. They've not drowned in their own vomit yet, duh, and are some of the most pleasant folks I've met during my stint at managing this festival. SKÁL to you guys! Can't wait for you touring the new album!

The most hilarious part of this entire video, is that the music the band plays is actually considerably less Satan-entwined than the popular music coming out of the USA and all major record companies. This band plays honest music that they wrote themselves, and it isn't persuaded by profits. Modern musicians don't have to work for their success, they just have to stand around looking good.
Being complacent with the current state of popular music, and allowing your children to be influenced by pop-culture is more harmful in almost every possible way, especially with the glorification of consumerism, depression, unemployment, drug addiction, etc. A fan of Akercocke is probably much less likely to mimic the video clips or become a victim of subtle advertising. If they were to ban extreme metal, perhaps they should ban ALL other contemporary music too.
So, stop whoring your kids out to MTV... At least Akercocke are 100% honest about the things they say and do.

My two cents on that debate: Freedom of Speech means that not only do people have to put up with whatever you want to say (so long as it isn't hateful), you have to put up with whatever other people want to say (so long as it isn't hateful). While Akercocke, who's being painted as the "bad guys" in this interview, were all but respectful to their Christian opponents, the Christians gave nothing short of spite in return, which is a very un-Christian attitude. Shame on them, but hail Akercocke!

This is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. It highlights the arrogance of some people. Akercocke are willingly participating on this show, and they recieve nothing but grief and ignorance. I commend them on the higher standing and social graces.

Akercocke - a brilliant band intellectually surpassing the brainwashed catholic lot, using their imagery and sense of humour to provoke.
The host and the christians in the studio - using nothing but totally predictable, widely taught arguments, stiring up hatred of people and beliefs they're totally oblivious of.
    thumbs up for Akercocke!!

This shit was so flippin' funny. It was such a strange interview, does anyone know what year this was filmed?
It couldn't have been that long ago 2005 or something? At that time people would have already been familiar with extreme metal and it shouldn't have really bothered them that much but then again, I dont live in Ireland.
I guess we have to take into account that Ireland is an extremely religious country.. like...exremely... haha
So when they hear that there is a band glorifying satan, it must really freak them out Haha

Btw these jokers didn't even play the right music over that clip. The clip is for the song Leviathan which doesnt even have any growls. Sure the live video which it is spliced with would appear a bit much to average joes, but they picked the darkest, heaviest passage they could find to put the boot to the band before the debate even began.
