This was the era of toys, and also true early morning cartoons. I feel sorry for my 9 year old son that he misses out on what we had as kids!

The 1980's designer's LOVED KIDS. Their intention was to blow our minds then. :)))

The designers back then would have to hand build the prototypes, ( up to circa 1989 at Hasbro ) they also did not just google things or use existing 3D libraries. They read encyclopedia and went on field trips seeing the real things. The passion transpires through their work. Till today.

Many of us have never recovered from GI Joe (Mattel) blowing our minds back then. You should see my GI Joe comic book collection that I've amassed as an adult.

I still think about that today because the USS FLAG was a whopping $100 back then. Metroplex was $42, which was a lot. If I remember correctly the AT AT walker was about $25, as was Optimus Prime. I think the Mobile Command Center was about $40. And I look at todays toys and the prices of them....

I still have my Metroplex and Trypticon and all my G1 Transformers :) the prices are not for kids anymore just got The Nemesis Deception Titan for $200 an than Scalpers make it worst. That's actually accurate i remember my mom getting me Optimus and Metroplex for me an my older brother that got me into Transformers, Gi joe, X men etc as a girl i got picked on a lot. Just never really liked Barbie etc. Have a great day.

I had the general and the tank canon trucks. Played with them for hours and hours. I remember I came home from school one day and my mom had given them all to one her daycare kids. I was heart broken. My dad was pissed too. She said I never played with them and I had just played with them that weekend. Man childhood trauma coming out I think. 😆

Not like the classics anyway. The deviant was bad ass. I had it and remember my dad carried it for me from toys r us. Thing barely fit in my closet lol

I had six out of 10 pieces displayed in this video. The four items I didn't have in this video or as follows one the cobra teradrome two the GI Joe mobile command center three the USS flag four the GI Joe general. I have never been a rich kid in any point in my life but I had most of the '80s and '90s GI Joe toys. When I stopped I was about 105 pieces short of having everything ever made mostly figures were lacking and those were mostly side missions or subgroups.

That's awesome man, I only had a smaller collection, but compared to my friends everyone thought it was huge. Not a rich kid either, my parents just REALLY didn't want me to play hockey ($$$$$ and 4am everyday) so they invested in toys for my brother and I. Working on unpacking everything this summer, I think most of it is still there.

My friend said he had a USS FLAGG but I figured he was lying just as another kid had done. One day I walked home with him from school and sure enough, up the stairs of his apartment was a fully assembled USS Flag. Only time I ever got to see it. He actually stood on it and layed down on the thing. We only got to play with it a short time before his sister (who was in a bad mood) kicked us outside because he was making too much noise.
