I dont know who to thank more, to DJI for adding LRF or to you for making this video. I was about to change my computer as I couldnt edit 4k videos on Premier Pro. Now all the problem is gone thanks to you. Realy really appreciate this. Thank you very much.
Stumbled upon this vid when looking wtf the LRF file was and if I needed it. Well thanks to your short and very informative clip, I was able to understand and appreciate the "extra" file that my Pocket 2 was giving me. I just wish now that I did not have to have a hugh file on the sdcard when recording. Thank you very much for getting to the point and not rambling on like others would have.
That's a nice video! I could do all the steps and in fact reproduce the lrf file on media player but, when I change proxy media file directory, my Davinci Resolve doesn't accept the video, keeps showing a red error message in place of thumbnail. What could I be doing wrong?
I know I'm two years late but what I have to add is still relevant. I own an OSMO Action 4 and I too was wondering what the LRF files were but soon discovered that they were .mp4 files. The Action 4 actually uses them for in-camera video playback. If you delete them you'll find that you're no longer able to playback your clip in the camera. The big deal for me is that I use Kdenlive as my video editor (even though I have a paid copy of Davinci Resolve Studio). Kdenlive supports .lrf files so there is no need to copy your LRF files to a sub-folder and renaming their extension to .mp4 like you have to do in Davinci Resolve. All you need to do is to tell Kdenlive to use external proxy files and select ".lrf" from the drop-down menu and Bob is really your uncle!!!
I have got some issue here, when record in 4k 60fps the lrf file still 30fps which not detected as proxy in davinci resolve but when my video 4k/1080p 30fps, lrf file working fine as proxy
Oooo, Nooooo... I thought these are an advanced audio files - Left Right Front (LRF) - due to the specification of the audio hardware solution of the OP2 with the three microphones. ...OMG! :-D))))))))) ...And thank you very much!
spectacular video, thank you very much for sharing this information, I have many video on my new DJI osco cam3 and did not know why the end result, this type of file. I will try it to rescue the recorded videos, greetings, good day.
Doesn't work on my Mac with an existing project, loads of the video files are all out of sync / contain 'Media Offline' sections. I feel there is too much of a risk in editing all the files using the LRF folder and then, after changing the source file to your 4k clips. I would be praying to the gods that everything would sync.
Creí haber perdido algunos videos que hice con el mini 4 pro. Estuve a punto de morir. Gracias a ti descubrí que aún tenia los videos, pero con exensión lrf
Nice tutorial! I now use the built-in proxy maker in Davinci 18, but used to use the LRF's in Davinci 17 when it was more clunky the proxy generation. Another reason these LRF files come in handy is for when you have the cam power down while recording or some SDCard error nukes a file, they have saved some good shots for me! Can use Davincis's excellent supersizing filter to get a still decent look
Nice one. I was wondering what these files were and this will save me a load of time, editing on my ancient clockwork MacBook. It would be useful if Da Vinci Resolve would recognise these LRF files as proxies, without requiring us to change the extension first. Then we could keep all the MP4s and LRFs together in the same folder.
Thanks, nice video. Any known way to use the same approach in the desktop version of Capcut? It seems to generate it's own unique file names for the proxy files so not as simple to replace to trick it.
I think this is how you'll do it. Because the files have the same name, when you change the source folder like he did at 5:12, you'll be using the .LRF files while you are editing. And when you are ready to export the final file, you change back the source folder to the folder with the High Resolution mp4s. And so Davinci will use the HD files to create the final export. The LRF files are meant to be used only while editing.
Nice Dan! . I just looked up what these are, and came on your video. I use Prem Pro, but maybe there is a way to use these instead of generating them. In this case I filmed at 1080p 24fps but if I use 4k 60fps definately a huge advantage to have them generated (unless I need a coffee break and/or dishes to do... :-( !!!
then what happen to the higher resolution files? do we use them at all, if we edit the lrf, wont the final output in lrf as well, then whats the purpose of the high resolution file in the first place?
Reading the comments it is clear that a lot have no clue what the video is trying to explain. Fail. The idea is: you edit the lo-res version, and when finished render out using the hi-res version. Anyway, would be goofy if it could be disabled somewhere. Apparently they are also used for playback on device.
@@skykser Yeah, by having the low resolution files in a separate folder but with the same names and lengths, etc, you make all your edits using that source folder so your computer doesn't work as hard then change it back to the high resolution files before the final render
Cool information. Does it work to edit low resolution and it transfers to the High Resolution Files? Can I turn off the .LRF from froming in the first place? Does take up space. Im working in Adobe and my machine is a beast. So I can work on high resolution. Although low resolution I bet will still be faster. Also can I just delete .LRF with out hurting my High Resolution Files? I hate to lose footage.
You Can try this to sort every file in seperate folder echo off IF not exist LRF\ (mkdir LRF) IF not exist DNG\ (mkdir DNG) IF not exist JPG\ (mkdir JPG) IF not exist MP4\ (mkdir MP4) move *.LRF LRF\ move *.DNG DNG\ move *.JPG JPG\ move *.MP4 MP4\ cd lrf\ rename *.lrf *.mp4
@@digitalcustodianvideo they don't know what they're talking about. Proxy clips are almost necessary if you do heavy colour grading on large projects, let alone fusion effects, even on a high end pc. thank you, you helped me a lot
Would be great to see the complete workflow. New to LRF's so showing how you edit the LRF and then apply it to your HD file would be nice.
Any update on this?
I think this is how you'll do it.
Because the files have the same name, when you change the source folder like he did at 5:12, you'll be using the .LRF files while you are editing.

You use the low res files for editing and then swap them when rendering.

Such a simple fix thanks, why didn’t DJI call them MP4

So, why not record in lower resolution to begin with?
what if you Just right click on the LRF and open with and select the mp4 as always open as MP$!
OMFG iv been wondering why some of my older projects are a nightmare and its because i delete these lol
thanks bro

Why would you want a low res file tho? Wouldn’t it affect the quality of the final video? I mean bigger the better and that
Yes. Use the low res to edit and switch to high res for rendering.
@@digitalcustodianvideo have you done this in DaVinci Resolve 18 and if so does it work?

cant i just delete these LRF Files?
Sure.
i got a new camera and it doesn't shoot lrf files its slowing up the editing process for my editor since the files are so big
