I lived there between 1989-1992 on Lambeth Walk it was the best time of my life, it was peaceful. Definitely a place for children to grow up in. I made a visit back in 2019, it was very sad to see the state it was in.
I was at Seletar between 1957 and 1962 with my dad Ch/tech Frank Tobin since passed away bless him. My broth Peter 9 NOW PASSED was at Seletar secondary2and I was at |Changi Grammar school. we live at 52 Edgware road after first moving from Mornington Cres and Jalan Kayu. we had great times fishing in the ponds just behind our campong. i will never forget my first girlfriend I met there it was a fabulous blond called Wendy Key, she was fard too good for men and we never went out together..... ooooohh happy days
My camp was just behind the Seletar CCO. It was 4th Field Tpt Coy under the 3rd Tpt Base. I served the army 1982-1993 (a military regular for 5yrs). Recently, I went back there and Seletar/Jln Kayu Camp has totally changed! Sad to see memories gone 😢 Jln Kayu bus terminal also gone but the main gate still there..
1958-60 lived in Maida Vale in a bungalow diagonally opposite the golf course. Loved the camp so much that I was crying by the end of your video. Happy memories, so sad to see it go. Progress has a lot to answer to. I feel for you all having to lose your beautiful homes.
My dad was a RAF sergeant aero engine fitter. We lived at Seletar from 1946 to 1950 when we moved to Australia. I learnt to swim in the base swimming pool. Mum and dad had a sailing boat made from a converted air-sea rescue dinghy and we used to sail up and through the Mallacca Straits. Lovely days for a young boy.
I was in the School of Manpower to be trained as a SAF clerk in the late 70s. I could not remember the name of the street where the school was located. I am sure it was demolished. Can someone help?
Hi, my unit, Supply & Transport Training School took over the premises in 1993 and I was an instructor there during my NS days. The road name is Baker Street! The school was demolished in the mid 2000s.
I was an Eng Mech in R.A.F. on 81 (P.R.) Sqdn , 'H' Block, West Camp from April 1955 to April 1958. Singapore was "My Island in the Sun" whilst 81 Sqdn was my Family and 'H' Block was my Home. Loved every minute and was so sad to have to return to the U.K. Took my Wife for her first visit in 2008, have been back several times. Wonderful People, Food and how Singapore has advanced is incredible.
One of my uncles was an aerial photographer stationed at RAF Seletar - before he transferred to the New Zealand Air Force and moved to New Zealand. As a very young child [1949-1952], I lived in Tanglin Barracks.
I spent two years at Seletar School when I was a nipper - 1960-61 - and it's a treat to see how it was appreciated by the people after the RAF left. We lived in Serangoon; Chief ERA Dad sent me to the RAF school instead the one at the Naval Base 'to see how the fly boys live' and because the school bus service from there was better to Seletar, and it was always a joke that I was the only 'pusser's brat' in the class. Happy days.
Think they cleared the ammo dump. Totally different now. 1st Guard, OSB 6sub base..I still remember the narrow road when our amphibious vehicles passed thru..now you can still see this under Hippo Duck Tours

My Section was on West Camp, I lived in H Block Centre Floor along with 20 plus other young airmen. opposite the runway. The food those days was disgusting,I used to visit Jalan Kayu village and eat there either at Hawkers stalls (Indian Curries or the First Bar on the left Chinese with European tucker. I hated the place as we had guard duties every week, also it was a case of getting in and out via the Guard Room when every effort was made to make life difficult for we airmen. I went back in 2018 to have a peek at the place, it was being 'developed and West Camp as it was known was now a civvy airport for a few Indonesian aircraft. Later in my 16 years in the RAF, I was posted to Changi which was like a holiday camp, I was there from 1967 till I got demobbed and went to live in NZ. Changi was brilliant,lovely beaches, great village lots to do,Bone shaking Changi Bus into the city cost a mere 50 cents. in the old days, Singapore I loved, and I spent many happy years there after I was demobbed, going back to Singapore with my wife around 8 times,now I'm too old to travel but still read about the changes, When I was there, my all time hero was Lee Kuan Yew, who made Singapore into the brilliant nation it now has become.Terimah Kaseh Lah!!! Hello Singapore was like this almost everywhere in our childhood and early adulthood. We have lost everything.
We lived in Seletar in 1975 loved this place so much.
1980 to 1985, I lived in The Oval,
2002 to 2005, in Regent Street.
I think your house cld be near our camp. Dramatist Mariayana Yati used to live near our camp too..

15 lambeth walk we lived 1966 to 1969 me and my dad spent most of our time on the golf course.
