I’ve never read the manga, but the anime made me cry like a baby and left a lasting impact on me to this day. It’s a great movie, but also one that I am afraid to rewatch because of how hard it hits me.
Just curious. Which part of the story made you cry? Because personally, I didn't find it tear jerking. I can relate to the story and I rather find it heartwarming and lighthearted. It makes me feel sad at some part but It sure didn't make me cry because it also makes me feel good about the characters. I feel happy about the characters to what they've been through in the story until the end so it didn't make me cry. But instead, It definitely makes me happy for them.
@@kresshq5170 Honestly there were multiple points in the movie that got me. Like in the beginning when they were bullying her and all she wanted to do was be friends, you could feel how much it hurt her. Or like when she tried to actually talk and you could feel how hard it is for her, or near the end when she’s crying and saying sorry for what happened to his mom. Note I watched it subbed and thought the voice acting was really good, so along with that and the background music, those scenes just really hit me. I don’t know if the manga would have the same impact as the actual anime did on me though.
@@santoryususanoo7609 It's the other way around for me. I haven't watched it yet and only read the manga. And maybe the animation and body language has more impact to the emotions they portray in the anime. I thought I didn't need to watch it because I already read the whole manga. But maybe I should try it out. Thank you.
@@kresshq5170 Gotcha. Yeah if you liked the manga, then I’d suggest watching the anime. From what I’ve heard, there are some stuff that gets left out of the anime from the manga, so it might be a different journey for you that you might find not as good as the manga story wise (like most books vs movie comparisons are). Also everything hits everyone differently, but I have told multiple people this, this movie is the saddest movie I have ever watched, be it anime or live action.
It’s amazing how much shelf space some of the larger editions save, the colossal editions of Attack on Titan are insane, the regular tankōbons actually take up double the space, if you hold 5 tankōbons up to the colossal editions they’re the same width as 2 of them, which is 10 volumes.
Not only Attack on Titan but similarly Neon Genesis Evangelion is doing it, but also Soul Eater and FullMetal Alchemist are doing big book hardcover editions.
You can double stack the manga though so you can have double the shelf space, but this won't work with the larger books. Basically, the depth of Billy Ikea bookcase can fit two singles. You can put a riser in the back and save a lot of space. Like so; i.etsystatic.com/35199548/r/il/cd329e/3842188609/il_570xN.3842188609_4stl.jpg
You've changed my mind! I dislike the collector's edition cover BUT the extras and saved shelf space have changed my mind. Thanks for the comparison video!
I just read both hardcovers each in one sitting. Wow, what a powerful compelling story! I didn’t expect it to hit me that hard. Immediately watched the movie afterwards and it’s nearly just as good and the OST is absolutely amazing. If anyone likes this story I would recommend the manga ‘I want to eat your pancreas’
Id love to see you compare some of the Sailor Moon releases such as the Eternal Edition vs the Naoko Takeuchi Collection vs the original volumes. it would also be interesting to hear your top 10 or top 5 series you'd like in deluxe hardcovers
i’ve been waiting for this video as soon as i saw this first come into B&N 🙌🏻 totally agree with your assessment, and have been pushing this series with those factors in mind
ah yes! I've considered this exact volume this week and love your analysis videos. The details of the page, binding, print quality is as important tp me as anyone thought on the story. Your channel is one of the most important I've found.
Having just got into manga last year I have to say I wish more collected editions like this were a thing. Being a book nerd I already know these manga aren't going to look as pretty over time since the paper is such low quality, but that Silent Voice collector's edition will probably look excellent for a long time.
Happy Sunday Kristin! I have the manga box set and blu-ray of A Silent Voice. It is such a beautiful story. I remember first learning about it after seeing a fathom events trailer at the movie theater of all places.
Just when I thought that there couldn't be anymore A Silent Voice has to offer, after buying the complete bundle Edition manga but then recently I was shopping around at my Barnes And Noble store, I found this big-a** Collector's Edition of the ASV manga, while most of it is just a compilation of half of the series but the other half of the first volume is never-before-seen bonus material such as Q&A by the author Yoshitoki Oima, and her first but unpublished original One-Shot of the A Silent Voice manga itself. Which all took me by surprised.
I loved the movie so much, I've actually gone out of my way to buy my first ever manga! Both collector's edition were on sale on Amazon! 🙌 The story is so relatable, I really want to know more parts of the story that didn't make it into the movie. (I know I can just look up the manga for free, but the movie, director, and Kyoto Animation deserve so much respect, I'd rather buy the manga. 🙏)
Thanks for the review. Looks good, but still on the fence about if I like the series. Can you review Delicious in Dungeon, Witch hat Atelier and Magus of the library ? I can recommend WHA, blind bought 8 volumes and I don't regret it one bit.
Thanks for this! I wasn't sure what the complete collector's edition was. I thought it was a box with several small volumes in it. Definitely getting that soon. Love her other series To Your Eternity.
Sold ! That’s why I’m glad to be back because one of my other favorite manga review channels somewhat blew this title off but you gave it such high praise it’s a no brainer 👑
I love both the blacks stand out in the collectors edition but there is so bleed through as you can see some of the text on the next page.the singles have not bleed through but the blacks and mid tones are not as present
Will you do a ghost in a shell comparison? Since they have I think 4 or 3 different ways to collect the manga and a new all in 1 complete hardcover is on rightstufanime for pre order and I would like to see which version would best to collect it? Thank you💕💕
damn lol i wish they updated the localization in this, like adding honorifics and change back when people call eachother by their first names oof, its usually what Kodansha does. probably just a shitty editor this one had, still a great story tho
