    The £14.13 might be 5% Duty of the watch plus delivery ($334) - and then converted to GBP at whatever rate at the precise moment DHL dealt with it.

    In August and November last year I got "the call" on my Helm Vanuatu and Komodo. I paid £250 and £258 for each watch respectively with zero additional charges. From what I can gather this seems to be the norm for Helm customers in the UK as for some reason they are slipping through Royal Mails net. The Origin is heavily influenced by the Vanuatu and in it's favour is readily available. However, at £360 delivered I'd sooner wait 2 years for a Helm.

      I went in eyes open purely because it was Jody, but I will be going back to boycotting anything delivered from abroad by DHL.
      I think a lot of people will feel as you do.
      Some people do not seem to have paid as much, but it's difficult to know for sure.

    DHL sent me an invoice for £114. After seeing others were paying around £60 I queried it. They said the first invoice was wrong and I owed £62,50
    I paid it and received the watch.
    The watch is great but after watching this video I thought I had paid $299 Australian dollars for the watch. So I've spent a lot more than I thought.

      Hi, glad that you got it sorted, and hope you are pleased overall.
      I had already vowed not to buy anything shipped into UK by DHL, but made an exception for Jody's watch.
      It's very unlikely I would do that again for the next one, no matter how much I like it!
      I would probably wait to see what turned up on eBay.

    I’m getting a black one too due to arrive Tuesday but haven’t received the bill from DHL yet. I worked out the expected duty a few months back when I ordered the watch. There’s an import duty calculator thingy on the government website. You select the category of goods and price with shipping and it gives a figure. With Australia at this price there should be any duty, just the VAT then a DHL fee if they must. I did this with a customs person guiding me on the phone so I doubt I got it wrong. One thing from posts on the Erebus Facebook group is it appears that people are getting charged varying costs which doesn’t make sense at all.

      At point of checkout it would be great to see an accurate list of ALL additional costs. Trying to work it out yourself gets mixed results it seems.
      I'd like to see the full cost of anything I buy being a basic requirement, and any seller should supply that info. Too much to ask?
      From a seller's point of view I suppose they really don't want that extra cost showing as you are about to buy something. As the additional cost may lose sales...

      Well I knew what it would cost to have shipped (although a lot of people it seems did not) and I am really pleased.
      Not sure I would do it again though, as I vowed never to buy anything shipped into the UK via DHL ever again.

    In Australia, Jody's prices are in Australian dollars (aka the Pacific Peso). They are AU $515 on a bracelet. This includes Australian GST (similar to a 10% VAT) which is US $336 = GBP 267 at the moment. I think you got a good deal.

    • @wristopia4101
      @wristopia4101  4 месяца назад +1

      £267 is very different to £359.
      I am not complaining as such, but it will put me off buying another watch shipped from Australia via DHL.

    To be fair, this video is all about DHL charges, and not to do with Erebus or any other Australian company using DHL to ship.

    • @wristopia4101
      @wristopia4101  4 месяца назад

      Hi, no its not!
      Feel the video is about the cost of buying an Erebus Origin in the UK.
      Erebus choose DHL and so it is 'very much' to do with them.
      All I have done is give potential UK customers some facts so that they can make a more informed decision on whether or not they want to purchase an Erebus or use other companies that ship via DHL.
      I think this will hinder the company, sometimes unfairly unfortunately, and I hope it is something that Jody can address and/or tweak for the next release ; )

    • @user-wu1by5jm2g
      @user-wu1by5jm2g 4 месяца назад +1

      But have you looked into what FedEx or other reliable international couriers would charge for comparison? Others may charge the same or more in fees and duties. I get the point of your video, but more than once you say you're not that bothered but then make a long video about it.
