There simply are no words to fully grasp the magnitude of this performance. "But your Soul knows." It's 2025 Luther....... we miss you more than ever. ❤
I was 25 at the time of this concert, now 62 and just retired. I have 3 Luther CD’s and 2 LP’s and have listened to them over the last 37 years at least monthly. RIP Luther. 🙏
After all those years that I'm 35 and have the worst mode of Multiple Sclerosis and now I go to the next room in my house with verbbig difficulty I listen to Luther Vandross and feeling good for some minutes!Greetings from Greece to all!
(THIS is gonna be long and could have been better written, but I am doing it from the heart in honor of the best ballader of my lifetime). Luther....Vandross...just the name gives me goosebumps to this very day. Many times, I wonder what really becomes of all of that wonderful talent after they go on to the other side of the veil. I imagine that they are singing in THE Heavenly Choir, tirelessly, joyfully. My understanding is that we are actually the "energy," an individual spark of light from the Source (known as God) Who *animates* the body; we are not the body itself. In other words, it's like an automobile and driver; as the Spirit Being, we are the "driver" of the vehicle. Nutshell: we are Eternal Spiritual Beings having "temporary" human experiences in bodies, temporarily. Science proves that "energy" can not be destroyed, but my question is: where does it go after being encapsulated and then released from the body? Well, I'm NOT in a hurry to find out right at this moment. I trust that God knows better than I and I'll let THAT suffice... About Luther: He was one of those singers who'd record and release a CD and I'd buy it without having to preview it; I *knew* the quality was beyond comparison and was NOT disappointed. He, Stevie Wonder, Peabo Bryson, Donny Hathaway, Glenn Jones, Howard Hewitt, George Benson, Jeffrey Osborne, Smokey Robinson, Rick James, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye and even Nat King Cole as well as the lead singers of Heat Wave, Earth, Wind & Fire, Confukshun, T-Connection, the Dells, the Delphonics, the Spinners, the Blue Notes, the Stylistics, the Chi-lites and literally an host of others....who inspired me to sing (Baritone/Tenor) with confidence as I sang in high-school and college choirs and musical productions. Luther was the one that I "practiced with" the most. I thank God that I was able to see him in concert once, headlining with Anita Baker when they were at the Rosemont Horizon (a few minutes away from Chicago O'Hara International Airport). It was phenomenal!!! All that I can say is thank you to both of them for giving one of the best highlights of my life. Luther, I pray that you have been enveloped in God's love and that you *are* singing in that Heavenly choir with that incredible voice. T.y. and rest in power, big brutha.....
Luther was a legendary once in a lifetime artist. When you have that kind of lifted voice you don't have to jump around on stage...just a stand up singing like Whitney. ❤
He kills this. It's the video you show someone when you're trying to explain what a real soul music performance looks like. The crowd was silent. Listening. Hanging on every word. Until they weren't. And they cheered for the greatness. You cried, you cheered, you waited on him, you let him lead you to the promised land.
Ladies, tell him, that he can have you for a lifetime, not only for one night. Then, see if he's willing to give you eternity. Don't drop your value.🌹 Recognize who you are, even if one man doesn't.😊!!!
Back when artists could sing and didn’t need all the theatrics to elevate their performances and presence on stage. We so need something refreshing like this now. Perhaps like John Legend.
I can never get enough of watching Luther performing live. There was something magical about him on stage. The voice, the wadrobe, the band, the everything. I wish his estate could release all the live recordings.
Especially the tours before this one because when they first come out they do 90% of the songs you like by the time they have over 4 albums you're not going to hear ever great song you like live
👍 I agree with you, but also believe that what you said is true for most talented artists back in those days. They showed a lot more respect for their peers, audience, band mates - and in general. SO many of the current 🌟 artists today perform in jeans, t-shirts, sweats, tat’s all over their body, etc. - which imo doesn’t mean they aren’t talented, but just not caring.
This is what a true singer and real performer looks like. Take note young people. Stop supporting the low life music of today's singers. This is real talent. If you boycott the poor music of today, they have no choice but to stop making it. RIP Luther 🎉❤
5:10-5:27 that was skillful. They don’t do it like that no more. It’s sad to think we’ll never get to see such pure and unfiltered artistry again in this lifetime. Oh well at least we got a chance, we got a glimpse of that magic
Todays music sucks! I miss this music and will forever be listening to it! I may have to make me a RUclips video on my channel using this song, wow...thanks for the walking me down memory lane! God Bless!
I was there with my girl at the time,to hear one of the most beautiful and sensuous songs ever written, performed by one of the most beautiful soulful voices of all time-bless you Luther.
Quite simply Breathtaking!!! The control and professionalism that put into his performances is staggering. Please whoever is in control of this footage whether it's the estate of Luther Vandross or the BBC, lets get this legendary concert released on blu ray, 4K or high definition streaming with Dolby Atmos surround sound and get it out there so we can all buy it......just let me know how much you want?! 🙏
There simply is no one like Luther. God blessed us to be able to partake in his gift. So glad I went to his concert with Anita Baker. It was my birthday gift from my then fiancé DB. #RIHLuther
Believe me I listen to Sir Luther every night. My only regret is that I did not learn about him until 2009, for sure I would have made ever effort to see him live. RIP AND LOVE
I remain in awe of everytime I see Luther perform. Such gorgeous magic! We are blessed that he left us with so much beautiful music to remember him by and to carry on his legacy. I miss him❤
