Retired school teacher, 69, been climbing since I was 5-- 1956-- (LOL) but never made a living at it. Now I climb mostly at home in our timber for the sawmill and mushroom business.
I always learn something when I watch you. Your character comes through, patience, skill, courage, kindness. thank you
You are, without a doubt, an arborist to look up too. You are at the "slope of enlightenment" of the Dunning-Kruger effect and this is a rare thing in a field where bravado is often valued over knowledge and humility. Cheers from Quebec.👍
Thank you brother, I love the Dunning-Kruger effect, it is so very true and the more we learn the more we realize we have not got a clue 😆
@@ClimbingArborist Final comment here: Do you mind if I include your hemlock removal example in my thesis defense for Oregon State University? I'll be defending my research conclusions the Public and my committee on May 28th (just to reiterate).
“Let’s fockin piece down some shit” hahaha love it
That real world job sites right there 😂😂
@@ClimbingArborist right on😂
Englishman spotted! 😂
Dan goes Tony Soprano on that tree
Thanks Dan, its great to see you and the crew hands on the job
Thanks buddy! happy new year to you 😄
Top quality video as always Dan, I love how even after a good few years I still feel I'm chasing you. No crane job for me yet but at least my videos are getting better. Keep up the great work. All the best for the new year mate.
Awesome video Dan, the reverse footage of the log/wood coming back up to you is totally awesome. Your editing and drone shots are excellent. I love the camera on the log being picked. Stay safe. And, the music is your choice. It doesn't matter if I like it or not. This content is very well done. Stay safe out there, it's a jungle. Jim Tree
Video editing, music, and tree work... Masterclass! Well done.
awesome watching you over the past few years stay safe brother
What an awesome compilation, thanks for the videos and keep them up. :)
Thanks buddy! happy new year to you 😄
Excellent vidéo Dan, et merci pour tous tes précieux conseils ! Bonne année 2021 🌳
Thanks dude!
Great video ! Great year good luck 2021
Nice camera work as well as nice work - I especially liked the view back down from the craned limb as you made the final cut.
Thanks for the comment dude!
Great video man, I love a good highlight film! I just put one together as well and it took me 3 days to accomplish so great job on your editing. I’m glad you put some curse words in there and some gansta rap as well, your a real “tree guy” haha! Great job and great new year to you 🤙🏻
Love watching your videos. Making me better at what I do everyday
Awesome to hear 🤙
I hope to grow my channel and knowledge to help people just as you do 😁
excellent as always have a great new year and the same to all
Happy new year to you too buddy 👍
What are you using to launch those huge pieces back up to the top of those spars? I gotta get one of those.
YES it is fun!
👍
Awesome video as always
Thanks 🙏
Cool techniques and application's...and, Husqvarna chainsaws!...
Awesome comp 👌👍
Thanks buddy! happy new year to you 😄
Nice video as always. I'm 17 and used a 100 tonne crane the other day. It was an easy pick, but still epic. I made a short drone video of it on my tiny channel
Good luck to you staring out in your career buddy, make it safe, make it fun...
What is your channel? I would love to support you by watching, Jim Tree. Stay safe..
some big picks in your vid there mate, was it you climbing in your vid?
Hey, where do you get the Stihl combi gascan from? i just send some over from germany
liked the way you put the tree back together, should do a whole tree, walk away at the end and say "Job well done"" 😊
Nice 👍
Nice
3:53 Nice catch
‘Lost’ throwbag found 😁👍
😆😂 Yes sir!
Awesome video mate
Thanks 👍
Привіт!на акумуляторній Husqvarna який акумулятор у тебе 200 чи 300 стоїть?
Great video!
Thanks buddy! happy new year to you 😄
@@ClimbingArborist Thank you, and the same for you!
Awesome video. But I noticed you didn't have any clips of you riding the crane ball. Did you have to climb to each of your picks? Are you not allowed to ride on the crane in the UK?
We are located in B.C. Canada, and we can't ride the ball.
Great job bro,
Wish I can get connection to u...it's my favourite job....
Never done crane picks before. Why do you do angled v cuts for the pick as opposed to say a step cut?
To stop the piece swinging into you once the cut it made, the V cut keeps the piece in place so you can get yourself out of harms way
@@ClimbingArborist Well said. Jim
@@ClimbingArborist very nice, thank you for the clarification. I can see the logic there. It’s really awesome to see how you do that.
@@aliray1165 Well said Dan.
Your videos have been really good thank you. I am an apprentice tree surgeon what would you most recommend??
Thanks for the comment bud! What would I recommend about what?

@@ClimbingArborist Helloo Dan! Could we please reserve some time this week in order to talk [next-generation], Avant-garde Arboriculture on your show [or a phone] this week? Thanks... N
Great vid.

Outstanding treemanship Sir, how are you getting on understanding that Dundalk accent? 😂 👍 🌲 🇮🇪
Love your channel mate.
Can i mention something that might help everyone with interpersonal stuff with team work or customer relations etc. It isnt nitpicking, i love your work but it's a point relating to a really common situation which came up in this video
It's in relation to asking the craney to wear your radio gear
I don't know when but sometime in the last few years it became common for people to say "Can i get you to do.. (insert favour or task here)
People are more than willing to help out and do what has to be done for a job but asking in that way is just really unskillful, unless someone has the capacity to realize that you may know no other way to ask someone to do something neccessary for the job
Best bet is just to ask, "Would you mind doing... to help me out
Or
Tell them what you need, if you need something people will naturally want to help out
It's just something that can really help with work place relations.
People will still do what you need but telling someone what to do just never goes down well even if it's not spoken
I'm really not being negative, i'm trying to improve our interpersonal relating and workplace morale
i looking to do some arborist training soon, "question" whats the deal with dying trees do you still climb to the top, cut from bottom or is it judged based on condition of the tree?
sorry dude i commented before watching the video lol IE the dead tree XD
@@Cheese_Boi1986 Actually, great question. My name is Nicholas Whittaker Dankers and I am presently the "Graduate TA in Urban Forestry for the Arboriculture class online at Oregon State University. Researching myself into the conversation here, preparing to present my research on May 28th. Would you consider my answer to the "deal" with dying swaths of trees and climbing removal techniques?
@@nicholasdankers3452 I think I've understood that XD my answer would be yes it seems North American trees really suffer from many different issues ie root rot and having removal techniques for rotten or dying trees would be a fantastic idea
@@Cheese_Boi1986 Alright, I'll work on that...
That guy climbing up a tree with a chainsaw in one hand
Watching from my hospital bed with a broken ankle. Never trust the mini skid operator to not get u hurt. After all the big nasties ive taken down without problems i get a severe broken ankle on the ground!! Careful out there brothers dont get complacent. When u get to work ask yourself is there any risk u take that seems harmless but might be more dangerous than u think? We all break little rules...figure out which ones u break and find another way you dont want your foot pinned back on to your leg trust me
Wishing you a speedy recovery buddy
@@ClimbingArborist thanks man. I started learning how to climb from your videos. I appreciate your kind words. Your videos really helped me become a great arborist and ill always remember your influence on my career. Keep it up brother your doing good for the world.
Sometimes I don’t understand why they do the crane work. In some cases it almost seems way slower??
hi climbing arborist. do you know who guilty of treeson is he dose cool tree work like you .have a good day
Yeah, guilty of treeson is very awesome to watch, I love his personality and video editing
@@crossfire127 ya his videos are top notch the humor and the teamwork is so great love jake the most
What the bloody 'ell did 'e say at the end?!
thats like saying does wood come from trees
Agreed!!
First!
Too bad we can't put them back together ...piece by piece and then the end tops for those who don't pay their bill!...
I'm 52. I started when I was 13. Didn't want to but my father had this side business so I had to work. I've seen it all and done it all. I've never fallen but I have 11 bites on my legs from 10 huskys and one stihl and I'm ok with that. Fun? Not really.
The crane is stealing skills I think. Boys are getting soft. Too much time spent trying to get a pic so they can put it on social media.... This business is becoming a fashion show, but that's cool....I have to do the same song and dance. Ya know what? Growing up no one fucked with the tree guy. Lol.... This mess will keep you in great shape, beyond what you can get inside a gym. Cigarettes will make you weak. I do like a nice puff of sativa on the weekends though. I'm certified, my wife is smokin, and I skydive.... Go figure.
Y'all keep it out the dirt!!
👍🏼🇺🇲🦅🪂🤟🏼
Tree boys aren’t getting soft, if anything the expectations are just as high with all our fancy gear.
Soft? Try again.
Soft??? A crane is a tool. We use tools to perform our work. Jim Tree.
I hear y'all... Glad to hear it....I knew master blaster personally, maybe y'all know him.... And he was a little older and mostly old school. We talked about this a lot..... Not trying to disrespect but goddamn, we came up a little different without all this info that's available.....ISA is selling.... Used to not be that way....all good
I love gadgets.... But I'm also a minimalist.
Stay safe brothers. I love y'all all, and know what you go through....
Shit... I'm on my way out. Time moves on.... Take care of your body.... Can't stress that enough...
First
Do it without spikes.
Вітання з України😀👍🇺🇦❤
Nice content, thanks for sharing. I just wish you would not use foul language so that I can watch infront of my kids.
Good content, aweful music.
Cheers buddy, sorry you didn't like the music, I thought it worked well. Horses for courses...
@@ClimbingArborist is this where i say "Bob's your uncle"?
To answer the question, "is it fun?", arborculture is the perfect balance of art and science. Keep up the good work!
too slow ...5 anchor points and a crane and a ton of useless gear...
