    As much as I love the perfection of their fun, moving, beautiful ‘official’ videos *NOTHING* beats their “LIVE” performances. Their individual personalities shine through and the group dynamic is profound. Kevin’s drive, Avi’s focus, Kirstie’s flirt, Scott’s soul and Mitch’s energy abound. When you see bouncy Mitch on stage singing and feeling the music, with his whole body from toes to fingertips…..you can’t help but feel it, too! I only wish their original music got more recognition and airplay. Not only are they phenomenal singers, their writing and composing talent and skills are growing rapidly. I can’t wait to hear what they come up with next!

    PTX and Japan have loved each other for quite a while. They've toured in Japan several times, usually to sold-out audiences even in the early days, and usually try to make sure they have at least a few dates there when they go on tour outside of the US. Of the songs that PTX has sung in a foreign language, more are in Japanese (4) than in any other two languages combined, and one (Pretender) is completely in Japanese. PTX has appeared and performed on several Japanese TV shows, and Mitch and Kirstie both know some Japanese, although they don't really speak it. At least one of their albums was released specially in Japan, and had portions of some songs re-recorded in Japanese.

    I’m glad you recognize the difference in Avi’s and Matt’s tonality with their bass. Matt is a fantastic singer, but Avi’s voice has that rich bass sound that enhances the songs more, in my opinion.

      @patriciaalvareztostado8170 6 месяцев назад +11

      I think you are right but Matt for me has more range, Avi is more a bass than Matt, can sing more lower than Matt, but Matt can sing very high for a bass, he sing more like soul, Avi is more operatic, they give different things to Ptx, which I think is good, because Matt isnt competing against Avi,

    • @valenciathequeen8994
      @valenciathequeen8994 6 месяцев назад +7

      @@patriciaalvareztostado8170 You are right, there was no competition between Avi and Matt. Avi is a true bass while Matt is a baritone who can sing bass, like Scott. Their ranges are different. My point is that Avi’s bass voice on the earlier PTX music sounds more like a bass guitar in tonality than Matt’s. Matt is perfect for PTX now because it allows for more pop/soul variety in songs.

    You wish to see Avi with them live but i guarantee you nobody puts on a show like Matt. True, Avi is a lower singer but Matts voice fits so much better with the group's pop sound. Matt has soul. Matt is their hype man and he brings out his energy to the rest of them. The Matt and kevin duo far surpasses what kevin would do with Avi. I've seen multiple concerts with both Avi and Matt and even though i was a fan since the beginning with Avi, Matt takes it for me.

    Great reaction, Zack! I love this set of songs! Mitch rapping is always a treat! This is sassy Mitch era! That hair do is my favorite on him! I believe Mitch and Kirstie were dressed representing some Japanese characters (correct me if I'm wrong, Pentaholics)! I would love if Avi could be a part of their newer performances, but I don't believe that can happen legally. Something about Avi taking legal action about songs that he had helped write and then PTX had to come up with different originals for the album they were going to put out. I don't think they are legally allowed to mention him by name because you know what happens when lawyers get involved, things can take an unpleasant turn. I think they did in this case. Anyhoo, it makes a lot of Avi fans upset that PTX doesn't honor him like they think they should, but what can you do when it's a legal matter? You have to follow those stipulations. Kind of sad, but it is what it is! Thanks for doing this one! Take care!

      From what I am reading it seems there was a bit of a falling out that I didn't know about?

    • @SweetSlytherinGirl-Jennifer
      @SweetSlytherinGirl-Jennifer 6 месяцев назад

      @@zack_reacts It may not have been a falling out as much of just legal issues after him leaving the group. Kind of like when a couple divorce, some things get divided up, but when it's music belonging to a group, that's probably a rough road to navigate. I hardly think the situation is that they don't want to mention Avi, like at the Hollywood Star ceremony or when they do an "Evolution of Pentatonix" in concerts. It's probably hard NOT to.

    • @tersommers
      @tersommers 6 месяцев назад

      @@zack_reacts Yes, I don't know much more than what I wrote but it happened after he left. They were going to give him writing credit for the songs, but I think he was just trying to ensure that those songs weren't done without him. I can understand his wanting a certain amount of protection, everyone wants to look out for themselves in this world. I just think things got out of hand once lawyers and emotions got involved. These people are all wonderfully kind and supportive, but we're all humans with feelings. No one is perfect. ❤

      @@zack_reacts pretty much anything we hear about this is circumstantial evidence. There definitely HAD to be something. I have noticed that, while they used to just put "Pentatonix" in writing credits, they now list them all by name. I don't think Avi was trying to keep them from performing songs he has written, but I am guessing it got messy when lawyers were involved with figuring out rights to performing and getting compensation for songs written solely or jointly. As far as I know, Avi is also not able to perform anything in the original column from when he was with them. This makes me sad for all of them because they were truly like family. I do know that Kevin and Avi are still very close. I also recently saw an interview with Matt, and he talks highly of some time he got to spend with Avi when he (Matt) became a member of the group and advice given. He chose to keep specifics to himself, but it sounded like they do get along.

  • @rlhcat7662
    @rlhcat7662 6 месяцев назад +3

    Thanks for the great reaction! After he decided to leave, I thought it might be nice for Avi to join them as a guest singer at some point. But, as the songs in this video tell, it's not so easy to share a space after a break-up. Matt gets along well with the group and has a great voice, so it's all good. Except for one thing - I think Avi had a strong say in creating their sound and in music selection, and now it seems like Scott is making a lot of choices for the group. Just my impression, but their music is more rock based than it used to be, with Scott doing about 75% of the leads and opening and closing parts to each song. They are still fun to keep up with, but it is different without Avi, and not just because of his deep voice.

    • @mx.confused
      @mx.confused 6 месяцев назад +1

      That's not really true though? Scott has always taken the majority of leads and the solos are more evenly divided now. Plus, Kirstie literally wrote the majority of The Lucky Ones and is probably the most common songwriter among the group nowadays. And while Scott's voice fits rock and I like that direction for them, I wouldn't say it's their current most prominent genre by any means (or even in Scott's solo work). Kiss From A Rose, I Rise, and Creep-yeah, they were all recent rock based stuff, but that's only been in the last like year, not the entire 6-7 years since Avi left.
      And based on the type of music Avi's into/makes, I wouldn't say I see to much of his influence on their early selection, other than the original stuff, since he wrote quite a bit of it. In fact, they've probably done more things that would have been up his lane since he's left, than when he was in the group.

      I read the tension between Avi and Kirstie was after they had dated briefly, which then led to the unfollowing on socials. There have been occasions where it would have seemed natural to bring Avi back for a live guest appearance, like the 2021 Hollywood Bowl concert, which was kind of a 10-year retrospective. I'm not sure if there is something in the legal agreements from when the group split, or if Avi just isn't interested, or if the PTX members think it wouldn't be fair to Matt. In 2017, during the time after Avi left and before Matt joined, the four remaining members recorded some four-part songs, including "Dancing on My Own" and "Away in a Manger".

    There will always be comparisons between Avi and Matt. I was trepidatious at first because Avi brought a classical tone to the music and arrangements.
    Matt, however, has brought an energy that Avi could not bring.
    What we have to realize is that both Avi and PTX are where they are now and that both are happy.
    I am sad that legal issues put a rift between them, which will probably prevent any kind of collaboration in the future.
    Popspring is a favorite. I only wish they had not sped up Kirstie's song, Water. If you listen on the album, it is considerably slower, not so rushed. Just a slight criticism. It is still a great song.
