I think the word you are looking for is clutch rather than brake. The pins engage on rotation along a wedge in the socket where they are; they to to the broad part of the wedge when the advance lever rotates clockwise and back to the slim side when the lever turns counter clockwise. It looks like the goo prevented the pins from engaging the wedges and so the clutch did not engage.
This was very helpful, I think you're right, but for the life of me I can't understand what makes the pins engage in the rotation, and why only in one direction. I've seen a bunch of other freewheel clutch mechanisms and this one seems just wrong
Hello, I enjoyed your video. I have the same exact "T" camera. Mine looks like new! There are very few signs of use. The lens is clean and clear. The issue is the shutter. I was operating the shutter at every speed and then suddenly the shutter would not trip when pushing on the shutter button. I can still fire the shutter by using the self-timer, but not by using the shutter button. Maybe I am not using the camera correctly or there is a mechanical problem. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve
hello, it seems the test roll is not under the pressure plate? I have a similar issue with my 3.5 tessar that the film actually does advance but the number does not move and the lever does not stop after advancing / cocking the shutter so i just rotate it by feel half way and back.. hoping to fix!
had the exact same problem as you describe after not using my camera for a while, turns out i just forgot to put the film under the first guidance roller!!! simple mistake to make with big consequence, but also super simple to fix :D
Hello Mike, I have always been a fan of your videos. Thank you for making all these informative tutorials, they are really helpful. Recently, I purchased a Rolleiflex 3.5F. There's one problem I encountered and so far I could not solve it, and wish you could help me out, I made a short video ruclips.net/video/vJLw4vMUAVs/видео.html , there are noise while I winding the crank, I have oiled all visible parts. I do not know how to take them apart further from this point. I hope you could help me with this, thank you very much.
Great and neat job again..excellent craftness

The cloth is a chamois cloth that yellow cloth for making a cushion for the roller pins
Will work much better with the springs installed
