    just got the full race exhaust installed on my Pikes Peak V4S.
    Feels like a new bike.

    Thanks Rembo, damn happy to know this. You saved me some trouble😊
    I bought the stock Akra exhaust slip on off a guy who bought a PP and fitted the full system exhaust. I fitted it on my V4S.
    Although there is no power gain, sounds better than the stock one on the V4S, a slight weight loss and looks cooler too.
    Cheers

    There are 2x baffles (sound attenuators) on the full race 2-in-to-1 can, they are removeable, but it's a bit tricky, and you can absolutely muller them trying to remove them. One of mine came out easily, one not so but managed to 'reshape' it! I've got no idea what it sounds like with them in, I took them out before installing. I rode past po-po with a speed gun and didn't get pulled. The people that turn their head seem to appreciate the noise as they always ask for me to rev it :). Pulling the clutch in fully does quieten the pipes a little sat in traffic.

  • @CurvedSlightly
    @CurvedSlightly 2 года назад +1

    Incidentally, the baffles reduce the dBs but have very little affect on the power, if at all. You may need the dB killers on track days as we have residential dB limits at some tracks. If you do remove them, take them with you as you can always pop them back in if plod takes a dislike to you.

    Info for you and others , I just had the full Akrapovic exhaust system installed by my Ducati dealership and it’s a huge huge difference in power!! To me it’s like a different bike forsure very happy and the sound is amazing 😊 Note the DB killers have been changed from Ducati they sound just fine with them in . Actually sound better with them in noise level is the same according to my dealership they tried them installed and out , just thought I would share this information

    I had the Akrapovic exhaust on my first V4S, now I have changed my bike, due to high mileage, to another V4S the only differences are I have a stock exhaust and no carbon front mudguard. I am happy with both as I am not a huge fan of carbon, indeed I put red decals on the carbon one, and I have to say the stock exhaust sounds better than the Akro did. It roars more when you open the taps say to overtake or coming out of a bend, so unless you go for the full system and remove the catalytic converter lump under the bike I would say don't bother spending extra on the Akropovic end can, it makes no difference at all. I won't remove the cat as I ride in Europe a lot and some countries have strict laws on noise, if you get stopped and your bike fails their roadside test your bike is impounded until you can put it back to standard which is not easy, extreme but is has happened. Some roads in Austria, Switzerland and Germany have restrictions on bikes using them, weekends and holidays especially and roadside sound monitoring cameras are appearing on some of the best biking roads. Europe is still great to ride though.

    Great and helpful videos, thanks for sharing your impressions...
    Still in love with your Pikes Peak?
    You think it is worth the extra price you have to pay for the PP compared to the regular V4 S??
    Thanks for answering...

    Hi Rembo, when are you supposed to have the full akra for your pikes peak? I hope that you will do a full review on it. Everybody sais that it transform the bike, it will be fun to have a real comparaison like 1/4 mile with and without the full system. In canada its like 5000$ for the exaust way too much for my budget. Continue your good work

      I think you'll find it's the law.....Euro5.....and Ducati has done us a favour......you can dump the cat and the ecu will adjust....but it retains the Euro5 throttle feel, so you still need the upmap for a sharp throttle, though the V4 runs fine without it.....just not track sharp. 👍

    Hi Rembo! Can you tell me between the QD on the V4 you had ans this Akra on the PP, which one sounds the best please? Because on the QD you removed the baffle so does it sound lowder than the Akra? I am very interesting by the QD so... Sorry for my poor english I'm french 😉

    Just for info.....the Akra slip-on muffler is not the same as the Akra "full" system as the slippon has only one tube from the collector box and the race muffler has two tubes coming from the decatted resonator. They both have twin baffle tubes inside though....nothing blocking gas flow.
    There is NO dB killer servo valve in the V4's exhaust......it"a all done by the massive cat box collector so changing mufflers has almost no effect on tune or sound......
    I have had mine apart to install a QD decat mid pipe resonator, keeping only the original headers (just like the Akra 'full' system) so I know what I'm talking about. If you want some music, you must decat......mine runs fine without any re-map, but it retains the Euro5 lean map feel just like the standard V4. I'm guessing the flash maps correct that for sharper low rpm throttle response, but my QD decat with stock fugly or stock Akra muffler both run like standard V4MS except with a pleasing thump missing from bikes still with the original collector/cat box......but mine has unleashed more low end torque and an honest 10hp - see the QD dyno charts....they are true to my experience.
    Don't waste money on mufflers.....it's the cat that silences the mighty roar.....👍 and steals 10hp.....16 if I was to remap....but that's another $1k and it's not needed unless I want track perfection.

      Does it popup warning lights on the pannel for mismatch exhaust readings?
      Where is the exhaust butterfly located, does it keeps working??
      Is it straight pipes or has a box in the middle as the qd exhaust web images seem to show? (For what the box?)

    • @RemboUSMC
      @RemboUSMC  Год назад +2

      @@pedrocarvalho8541 No fault lights. It is a manufacturer system and a 4:2 with the 4 going into a combiner box and coming out as 2 to the muffler.

    • @davidneven4093
      @davidneven4093 Год назад +1

      @@pedrocarvalho8541 Hi Pedro.
      Euro 5 bikes don't have valves in exhaust tubes so they don't throw any codes. The ecu does all the tuning, and the stock collector box has 2 cats and big volume to quieten the noise.
      Re the QD decat, it has a small expansion chamber fitted which I assume is necessary to allow for mixing the super hot front &rear header gases before they exit through 2 larger diameter tubes into 1 stock diameter tube, so any brand of muffler will fit on. No codes, or lights or warnings as the euro 5 programming is inside the bikes ecu.
      It's the law.....and manufacturers must comply.
      To change the ultra lean tune in the ecu requires a reflash of the mapping, which in some countries would be illegal or subject to testing, however my V4 had no problem adjusting to the QD decat by itself - I have recently ordered a QD flash tuning module (but it won't arrived before March) as I am curious to find out how much better it might be, but it's not essential....I've done >10,000kms in 6months and the bike is running perfect.....throttle no worse than fully stock, fuel range slightly less because I have been enjoying the deeper note the exhaust gives off (and the extra 10hp over stock) 👍

    • @pedrocarvalho8541
      @pedrocarvalho8541 Год назад +2

      I ve seen so many comments of people asking a sound clip with the stock akra and the qb pipe system that it's clear the disappointment not only with the stock system but also the solution/ransome suggested of the 3k+ full system to unleash the noise. I ve had scooters in traffic sounding better and louder than my pikes peak. Thanks for the post and comments/replies 🙏

    Over priced exhaust that is now restricted by Euro 5. Any equipment from the Manufacturers is a total money grab now because they are also now regulated for sound and emissions. So why waste 1000 + on nothing? If you want better sound, buy yourself from China or other supplies that don’t care about Euro 5 or even Euro 4.
    I hate to bring it up but big govy is reaching out to shut us down and take away our fun. Maybe we can blame Harley for this mess and their strait pipe gang of riders. I don’t really know how MCs got targeted but we have come into the crosshairs of Big Govy Control, just like cars have been getting. Sorry REMBO for the rant but your video provides evidence on the truth of it reaching us.
    I vote that Ducati drop the fancy naemd exhaust silencers and let us do it. Keeps the price down a little.
