Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.

We have a short piece of chain always dragging on the ground from the frame of our combines. Seems to help with the dust clinging via static. California dusters help but dirty combine windows are a never ending battle! Enjoyable content as always.
Really appreciate you giving us actual data. I was watching another RUclipsr yesterday. And realized he was just saying good or bad bean results for hirldd, but not providing actually numbers. It is MUCH easier for me to understand what is going on with actual data

Looking for oil leaks 101.Look for the clean streak.Oil has detergents to clean machinery internals.So when you spring a leak their is usually a clean wet streak at the source of the failure.

I've watched other farm videos where they may have 15 or 20 minutes of combining up and down the field without break, you don't do that. You comment on all sorts of topics and statistics and keep it interesting. Your videos could easily be longer. Thanks for that.

Nathan, most of us learn so much from you, and I worked on a farm for most of my life. Just haven't been there for a few years and farming has changed a lot from back even when I started. So no, your videos are not too long.
Not going to say what I think of the landlord! Could ask him to go shopping or take a day trip and and have the disc ready to start as soon as chicken litter is spread¡¡

How much is the chicken litter replacing your need for commercial fertilizer? Besides the lime.
Quite a bit. Probably reduced commercial fertilizer by 75%

Why do you have to turn the auger off with machine sync if you have to stop? I usually just radio to stop then empty out

Is the combine still under warranty? And what is planted in Berkey? No beans?
Just emissions components are still in warranty. We had wheat and corn and the double crop beans

Pretty sure you were supposed to wash the belt, not the side panel. 😅
Haha I did that too but I was there with a power washer out. I had to clean it up.
