Ayaka Furue was snubbed by the Olympic golf qualifying system in place. She is undoubtedly worthy of being in this Paris field. With all due respect to Yuka Saso, Ayaka had a loaded resume of out-playing Yuka most every week on tour, not to mention numerous top 10 and top 25 finishes. But Yuka claimed the ONE big victory, and somehow by way of Rolex ranking criteria, that seemingly single handedly outweighed a stocked body of work from Ayaka (which doesn't even include Evian because it fell outside of the qualifying date deadline). In my mind, Ayaka Furue has exposed flaws within the Rolex scoring system, and I loved seeing her put an exclamation mark on the matter with her victory at Evian.
It sounded like Mel was in favor of getting rid of Olympic individual play altogether, and just playing exclusively a mixed pairs, match-play format. As much as I'd like to see Minjee & Minwoo team up together, I'm hesitant about just banishing the individual play portion of the Olympics.
