Charlie got up 3 times and he kept going. he had to pull his body AND his head back together at least 3 times and they are going a million miles an hour. Igor's reaction is priceless in the slo-mo. the next year they won the silver OM and then the rest is history. love you Charlie and Meryl!
I'VE WATCHED THEM FOR YEARS SINCE THEIR GOLD METAL WIN AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE EVER SEEN CHARLIE SCREW UP. IT WAS A SHOCKER. FELT SO SORRY FOR HIM.
My heart was breaking for them after this. Fortunately they came back strong in the FD, even getting the bronze medal! They are simply awesome and everyone has a bad skate now and then. I love this team!
What was nice was that if you compare this OD performance with their 4CC performance, you can see how much more control Charlie gained, he really learned from this I believe. I know he said they were so excited to show that they could compete at the top that he was overconfident and he doesn't really know what happened in this OD but thank goodness they got their confidence back quick and the FD was awesome...so great they got the bronze here!
wow! he trips 3 TIMES and the dance is still perfection! at least he didn't trip when they were doing a lift or something. :) don't give up Charlie!!!!
omg the coach’s reactions are too funny! charlie just had a bad day, it happens to everyone especially in such a difficult and tricky sport! love d/w❤️🥇
I think Meryl is the steady rock of the team. She seems very even tempered and unflappable. Don't forget about Meryl's fall during the CD at Skate Canada 2006, of course it looked like she got her skate caught in the boards... Poor Charlie, he looked gutted. Igor looked like he wanted to laugh during parts of the kiss n cry wait for the scores. Sometimes it is better to laugh than cry...
good thing though that they have recovered from this horrible showing sufficient to win gold in 4cc! congrats meryl and charlie! i hope you upstage belbin and agosto if these two do come back. you are the more deserving ice dance couple to represent US.
his technique at this point in the season is quite suspect as he's kicking up so much ice on his blades. i dont see meryl doing that on close ups in this vid. strangely enough, i find charlie's stumbles amusing. it's like he's one big, exuberant kid who's too excited about what he's doing that he ends up falling. ;)
charlie certainly looked so shaky on his skates at this point of the season. he does tend to get "frantic" in execution. he certainly needs to grow more on restraint and control when executing the elements, particularly the twizzles. sometimes you get the feeling that he's executing them just to get them done and over with.

I think this tempo did him in the way certain faster dances did in Cizeron who we know to be a rock solid skater. It happens
