As someone who's currently riding the NM4, and previously rode the Tmax, I have to say this. The NM4 is NOT underpowered. It has Drive Mode, and Sport Mode. When you go Sport Mode, it becomes a beast. No kidding. And I've had a Z1000sx and an R6 before too. Changed to NM4 due to a bad back, and never regretted it since.
Loved my TMax but I found it painful over any distance due to weight on my cocix. That backrest doesn't help. Lovely bike though, and I fancy another tbh.
When I first saw pics of the NM4 I thought it was just the coolest most unique bike I've seen in a long time. Was surprised to see it here in a "scooter" review. On Honda's web site they got the NM4 grouped together under its touring and cruiser bikes. Wonder why it's here as a scooter? It's got motorcycle sized wheels and close to a 700cc engine. It may be tuned for fuel economy instead of performance but to me its a motorcycle.
I have to agree with the others here, Honda labels the NM4 as a Motorcycle, not a Scooter. You might as well label the CTX 700D as a Scooter, or the NX700DCT as a Scooter. All have the same engine and same transmission.
The Honda is not a scooter it's a cruiser,it uses the same dct that other uses, like the Honda NC 750 X or the NC 750 S and more, and they are not scooters they are motorcycles,if you look that Honda don't have the left and break, you have a foot break.
Vultus? A scooter? I always had the impression that the Vultus is what the custom bikes would look like if they got their looks modernized. That plus a bigger tank (twelve litres is ridiculous IMO) and twenty to thirty more horsepower and it would be my dream custom bike.
The NM4 has three driving modes, one of which that allows you to get in the high rev range. Another reviewer said that it's fun to drive when you're in that mode.
I agree, it's a very low seated cruiser without a clutch lever. It rides nothing like a scooter. I've only done a test ride on a NM4 once and I didn't much like it because it felt so different from the scooters I've ridden all my life.
Well as a Yamaha Tmax owner. I absolutely love it. And to compare the Tmax to a bike, that really puts the Tmax up there. and also saying the Tmax out performs it too....Remember the Tmax started it all in maxi scoots.. I have a Yamaha majesty too. I've ridden for 11 years. No mechanical issues on either. and commute and ride daily
also with the DCT, D mode(Drive) its at its TOP ECO/ Best MPG it can be. if u want sporty Put it in S(Sport) /or SS (Super Sport) if u want to shift like a manual
I wish that they do a Maxi Scooter Shootout with the Burgman 650 Executive, Silverwing ABS, TMAX, MyRoad 700 and BMW 650GT, they could add the NC700x DCT or the NM4. It would be a fairer comparison. One of the patterns that I notice is that motorcycle riders like the sportiness of the BMW 600 and TMAX which is not what Maxi Scooters are about.
What kind of helmet is Mr. Evans Brasfield wearing? Nice review, my dealership where I got my Honda cbr doesn't have any MH4 in stock. I really want to test drive that scooter and planning to get it for my wife.
seriously? you guys call honda nm04 a scooter??? why not calling nc750s dct a scooter as well? this is a cruiser bike come with a dct, simple as that! how many time did you guys see a scooter come with pannier and chain drive and rpm meter and foots on the side and handling rear braking......
It does not matter what the website will say. The Honda has many scooter attributes. The distinction between scooter and bike is becoming blurred. Goldwings now have automatic transmissions.
The Honda NM4 is a motorcycle, more specifically a touring bike. It even says so on the official Honda website. Did you guys even bother to simply look at the actual website first before making the video. Come on, you guys are supposed to be professional.
So a Yamaha scooter with a 535 engine and another Honda cruiser, both for in the region of £10k on the road. Or you could buy a 2015 Virago 535 for half the price and with whats left over you could either cafe racer it to make it out perform the T Max or sling some saddle bags on it to give you greater carrying capacity than the Honda and still have money left over for insurance and fuel for a week!
The Honda NM4 has a lot in common seating and wheelbase wise with their very popular Helix ,one of which I used to own with Kenwood/Honda stereo.A great bike but spare parts woefully overpriced. A new muffler at the time in 1991 was £199.00!!! I kid you not and it only lasted a year as the baffles came loose inside (I had it cut open and those removed for nothing).A new battery was also £100, unbelievable.Bike was cool as hell though and I enjoyed clocking up 33,000 miles in the three years I owned it.Always gathered a lot of attention.
I like both and having a hard time finding out which one of these to choose from, they both serves the purpose of what I want. NOT sure how much money they are...
Good review, sooooo? The batmobile-----cool or ugly, the old saying goes without saying, BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BE HOLDER, RIGHT NOW I HAVE A BURGMAN 400 SO I THINK I'LL GO FOR THE T-MAX
The Honda is definitely not a scooter. You guys got me exited with the title only to find out that the Burgman Suzuki and Silverwing Honda are missing from its test.
The hnda NM4 has a lot in common seating and wheelbase wise with their very popular Helix ,one of which I used to own with Kenwood/Honda stereo.A great bike but spare parts woefully overpriced. I'm not really into scooters, although I have owned a couple of smaller ones and they were fun and convenient to ride around town. I actually kind of like the TMAX. But the problem for me is the price of these "maxi-scooters". For example, Yamaha sells the FJ-09 sport touring motorcycle for exactly the same list price as the TMAX, $10,500. The FJ is far more powerful, more capable, and better performing in every way than the TMAX and I'm sure it costs more to produce. Spending many thousands of dollars extra just so you don't have to shift gears is not reasonable to me.
I like the TMAX feels scootery than the honda. But what I dont like about TMAX is that the belt and its pulley is exposed. Exposed to dirt and other elements.
The Honda NM4 is NOT...............I say again, is NOT a scooter! There is a huge difference between the CVT transmission of a scooter and the DCT transmission of the NM4!!! Using your logic, the CTX700, CTX1300 and NC700X would be scooters as well?
Lol usa no abs option on tmax unlucky...takes the fun out of burnouts and skidding the rear tyre but its all change next year with abs across the whole range
Let it be known that just because a bike has an automatic does not make it a scooter the Honda nm4 voltas is not a scooter by any means it is a DCT controls and you can actually rev the engine you can't do that on the scooter in fact there is no scooter as far as I know on planet Earth is an automatic or CVT that can rev the bike without the wheel spinning. If we go by your definition just because it's a DCT makes it a scooter right then that means that the Gold Wing is a scooter or the nc750 with DCT is a scooter
Why are they calling it a scooter? Because of the DCT? So is the NC700X and the CTX700N and yet those are considered motorcycles. I don't see how they can compare a scooter to a motorcycle. They're completely different.
False! Motorscooters do not have a step-thru frame and floorboard. Normal scooters like the city ones who are slow also known as Mopeds, have step-thru frame and floorboards. Motorscooters are more motorcycle based.
As most of the commenters have said in their comments this review is comparing apples to oranges and misleads all of us. Then at the end of the review they bait us to go to their website to read their conclusdions. CLICK BAIT. I AM NOT VIEWING ANY MORE OF THIS SITES VIDEOS.
nm 4 is much better then tmax. I ride tmax and is good bike but for long ride is really uncomfortable to drive. nm4 is amazing bike but there is problem with a storage and passenger is also screw up… still if choose between nm4 and tmax, nm4 beat it easy
+Oleg Volobujev For less money, get the CTX-700 DCT with touring bags. It's the same basic motorcycle, except it has a more 'motorcycle' look to it. WIth the CTX-700, you can ride with a passenger and truly roomy luggage/storage. The only thing I would say would to be put a larger windscreen on it.
Oleg Volobujev Oleg, we don't have the Integra models in the U.S., but I believe they are the same bike, except the Integra has a bigger engine. I think the Integra also has the DCT transmission. Am I correct on that? Good luck to you, and ride safely!
The Honda isn't a scooter, its an automatic motorcycle. Having chain drive also removes all the convenience and practicality of a clean running drive system. Horses for courses but that Honda is butt ugly too.

americans... :D
I agree, these reviews were totally one sided to; they see the NM4 as non traditional motorcycle because of the automatic transmission.
+Raul Valadez Even though it has a manual mode.
I have to agree with the others here, Honda labels the NM4 as a Motorcycle, not a Scooter. You might as well label the CTX 700D as a Scooter, or the NX700DCT as a Scooter. All have the same engine and same transmission.
Scooters are motorcycles 2.0. That was the idea behind the original Vespa by Piaggio, and this is the evolution of that concept.
Scooters were around for decades before Piaggio ever thought of building them.
The Honda is not a scooter it's a cruiser,it uses the same dct that other uses, like the Honda NC 750 X or the NC 750 S and more, and they are not scooters they are motorcycles,if you look that Honda don't have the left and break, you have a foot break.

The NM4 is a motorbike with a automatic dual clutch transmission. Would you call the africa twin with DCT a scooter?!
The nm4 simply isn't a scooter, don't know where they got that idea from.
I've got one. Put it in sport mode, it's a completely different ride in sport mode !!
I agree, it's a very low seated cruiser without a clutch lever. It rides nothing like a scooter. I've only done a test ride on a NM4 once and I didn't much like it because it felt so different from the scooters I've ridden all my life.

In Germany you get the Yamaha only with ABS! The brakes on the T MAX are the best of all scooters on the market!
Rather have a PCX150 anytime. NM4 at $11,000 is insanely priced.
Dave Stone Hello. I have a question, i wanna take a trip in Europa with scooter. So, what do i have to buy engine (cc)?
Shin sangwoo
I don't know. Just buy a PCX150
agreed
I own a PCX 150 and I Really like it
so you're comparing 2 scooters that can't really be compared ? good job
+Joe G.P. that's because the nm4 is a motorcycle. more specifically, a touring bike. Says so on the website even.
Are we talking about NM4 Vultus? Because in Honda's swiss website it's in Custom category.
What's going on here? :))
Would you consider my CTX700 a scooter also? Same engine, DCT>
also with the DCT, D mode(Drive) its at its TOP ECO/ Best MPG it can be. if u want sporty Put it in S(Sport) /or SS (Super Sport) if u want to shift like a manual
The Honda looks like Judge Dredd's motorcycle. They could use it in the next Dredd movie. (If they ever make one, that is.)
I need one for long distance trips which one would be the best?
I wish that they do a Maxi Scooter Shootout with the Burgman 650 Executive, Silverwing ABS, TMAX, MyRoad 700 and BMW 650GT, they could add the NC700x DCT or the NM4. It would be a fairer comparison. A bike with a DCT is an automatic motorcycle, scooters have CVT engine types which means you don't feel the gears shift unlike a DCT.
The Honda really looks like something Judge Dredd would roll around in.
An odd pairing. I thought I was going to see a maxi scooter comparison. NM4 is a motorcycle.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the NM4 just a revised DN-01?
what helmet setup is this? looks great
Why do yamaha not sell an ABS version of Tmax in the US? The ABS version has been available for years in europe.
It does not matter what the website will say. The Honda has many scooter attributes. The distinction between scooter and bike is becoming blurred. Goldwings now have automatic transmissions.

SUPER SCOOTS!!!!! I love scooters man, both of these look sweet, especially the Hoonda

it says in the vid: $10,500 & $10,900.
That's a difficult decision between the two, she.
You guys should probably change how you title some of these videos.
Love them both but the NM4 takes the win, and love the bigger tires. Thank you for the great reviews guys!😍👍
if I decide to get a scooter, how are the mileage on it ?
The windshield of the Honda is not dangerous in the event of a frontal accident? It might crash the neck.
Honda looks amazing!! i love Gilera nexus 500 max speed 120 mph and Aprilia srv 850.. nice review.. !
what kind of helmet is the nm4 guy wearing
Wish they would put real storage on the NM4. I would totally get a Honda NM 4 if came with real usable storage.
Legit didn't know scooters were this much or have this much CC's till this video
Good review, sooooo? The batmobile-----cool or ugly, the old saying goes without saying, BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BE HOLDER, RIGHT NOW I HAVE A BURGMAN 400 SO I THINK I'LL GO FOR THE T-MAX
what about the c600 sport?
That Honda scoot looks gangsta. Love the looks, too bad they didn't put some power in the honda scoot.
CycleCruza love your motovlog, subscribed. You are one of the most objective vlogger. Buy harley or triumph, dude!
+CycleCruza It's actually a motorcycle/touring bike.
A bike for the true speed kings.
Does anyone know what kind of helmet is that? 0.44
***** Thank you!

You didn't include the suzuki?
the honda you choose is not a scooter, is a cruiser. And the yamaha it is. So please.
How fast does the Yamaha go

It is partially a scooter I think, but on honda's website it isn't in scooter so...
I like the TMAX feels scootery than the honda. But what I dont like about TMAX is that the belt and its pulley is exposed. Exposed to dirt and other elements.
I love bikes so much the most one I love is scooters
I'd rather either. Just buy me one of them...
It looks kinda strange to see a wired microphone.
Not for me but wow that Honda looks amazing. Good option for the girlfriend
+Francois Botha Why the girlfriend and not you?
The Honda isn't a scooter. Underpowered? that what sport mode is for.. this vid was painful to watch
I don't think I'm ever going to buy a scooter, I'm to hooked on bikes, but these ones look pretty cool for actually being a scooter'
The Honda NM4 is NOT...............I say again, is NOT a scooter! There is a huge difference between the CVT transmission of a scooter and the DCT transmission of the NM4!!! Using your logic, the CTX700, CTX1300 and NC700X would be scooters as well?
you can drift very well in the t-max
What makes that Honda a scooter? It looks "leg over" not "pass through" mounting.
Lol usa no abs option on tmax unlucky...takes the fun out of burnouts and skidding the rear tyre but its all change next year with abs across the whole range
? Isn't ABS what keeps you from doing burnouts?

cool, but u all should remake it for the 2019 models😀

They Should Compare the Yamaha TMAX 530cc against the Honda Integra S 750cc and not the Honda NM4
what kind of helmet he wearing
The BMW C600 should be in this, however I also know it's the best by far.
Where's the burgman ?
Scooters have a step-thru frame and floorboard. The Honda is not a scooter.
False! Motorscooters do not have a step-thru frame and floorboard. Normal scooters like the city ones who are slow also known as Mopeds, have step-thru frame and floorboards. Motorscooters are more motorcycle based.
I would trade my dirtbike for one of those
What took Yamaha so long to bring this to the U.S.?
Well what the heck about the Burgman ????
Easy: not all-caps.
What????
It's the "All caps shootout".
"Burgman" is not in all caps.
Thank You
love it
Buahahaha...Honda has storage for change of underwear. You guys shit funny and do great reviews! Loved both bikes
Who buys a scooter with more than 3 or 400cc? Not what I was hoping for.
...what...c650GT?
Why no BMW?

you know, in stupid old 133t h4x0r speak 4=A
say that Honda's name again.
yeah
I want that helmet with the face mask.
Yamaha t max doesn’t have ABS???? Where do you live? I have 2009 model with ABS. 😂😂😂😂👎🏻
I want an NM4 so bad. Someone gimme $11,000!!!!
Why the hell are scooters so expensive?? 10 grand?
+Joseph Delgadillo The nm4 is not a scooter. It's classified as a motorcycle/ touring bike.

Good luck to you, and ride safely!
+Gary C yes correct. is looks like scooter but actually is more bike then scooter. engine os same as nm4 I suppose
+Gary C Not have ctx700 here in Malaysia
NM4 honda looks like dred's bike :D
suzuki burgman 650 executive, way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
APRILIA SRV850. drive that and after forget all the scooters
Good luck trying to find one here in the US.
The Honda is not a scooter... Maybe stick to motorcycle tests, Motorcycle.com? You might make a bit more sense that way.
they are worlds apart?........so whats the point of this comparison.?
+darkelf1000 The nm4 isn't even a scooter. It's a motorcycle! (facepalm)
SRV850
That Honda is "Fugly"
The Honda isn't a scooter, its an automatic motorcycle. Having chain drive also removes all the convenience and practicality of a clean running drive system. Horses for courses but that Honda is butt ugly too.
Nice video but Le NM4 n'est pas beau...
$12,000.00 for a scooter?!
A good used car costs much less.
Even many nice new motorcycles run less than that.
+angelisone The nm4 is not a scooter. It's classified as a motorcycle/ touring bike.
+Fuck My Butt Shrek Replay to 1.15. Its an overprice scooter.
+angelisone if you're talking used, a decent used scooter can be gotten for a few thousand.
