This channel is amazing, you dont only teach these project but how to approach any project you want! your task breakdown is well structured! I am certainly looking forward for more.
I love how you explain what you did, but didn't go step by step. This made the video shorter, and more educational since I got to experiment on my own. Keep up the great videos!!
I'm subscibbed to more than 1k channels, and I can say that you're probably the one that inspires me the most, one of the best creator if not the best I'm subscribed to, keep up the great work, you actually deserve way more attention, well edited and really easy to understand
I just subscribed to your channel after I watched 4 of your videos. So, far you are one of the best tutor here who explains how it was done, additionally I liked that zooming.
You should make a basic vs horde styled example game, but with all of the different unique attacks you've done to show off what you could do if you had the iconic attacks from all these games
Very good tutorial/explanations. Not too complex not too simple - for a guy like me who knows the basics and doesn't need more than one sentence to remind what's happening is great. Keep it up. A note on video title - it should include that you are working with Unity. I was sceptical of clicking at first because I didn't know what this was about.
GoW dev team: alright, we’ve got a full suite of animators, artists, and coders working on this mechanic. Mix & Jam: lol, so imma make this thing for fun.
Thanks you’re video is one of the best videos I have seen on Unity . Your skill , video editing , and commentary are great that it makes me watch the video multiple times .
That is amazing, great job. According to Cory Barglog, It took 3 years to for Santa Monica's studio to figure this out but I assume they mean all the other axe attacks and animations.
Awesome awesome awesome awesome . OMG first unity video I saw in ages which is short sweet and informative. I like the concept of narrating the approach rather than code by code 1 hour video. Super awesome man. Kudos!! ; )
Thanks so much for your GitHub repository. Finally got a good camera system to go with Cinemachine. Used some of your code as reference and it helped a lot.
Nice and what may amaze you is that this was coded by just one engineer. In fact George Maul did all the weapons in GOW! Also the sound design on this thing is adaptive to last as long as it needs to when returning. That means that it will always play the catch sound for the perfect amount of time.
Hey, that was very informative. You can make it more realistic by using raycast to calculate the distance between the character and the target and then rotate the axe according so that the blade hits the target and not handle. Same way it could be used while returning it to the hand. Cheers
Not that simple. What if something moves in between the player and the intended target? :P Anyways, still a decent idea, but I feel like, given the player's perspective, they can't really tell if you just fake having the axe look like the blade hit the target by changing the rotation on hit.
@@SourCyanide yes that's what I thought too. Because changing the rotation based on the distance between target position and release position will effect its rotation speed which will not remain consistent anymore. Changing the rotation on hit sounds more logical, besides it's so hard to tell if it's been faked because it will be so quick...

@@mixandjam hey thanks for the quick reply! I have a question though: can you link me the original animation .fbx files you used? I need to convert them into Humanoid rigs to use with my Humanoid character. I've been scouring mixamo's "Axe" section but I can't find the specific animations for Aim, Pull1, and Pull2. Please reply ASAP!!

1 thing i might change if i ever adapt this is some sort of ik look-at script at the catching hand. To make it more fluid.

he could just have the axe rotation oriented in such a way that when it stops, the blade is at the collision point. (:
