I am the same 360 games, dvd, but I would add that I started a CD collection as it's crazy to keep paying streaming services to listen to the same songs
I still love collecting DVDs and blurays because it’s getting annoying how expensive subscriptions are getting, plus like you say sometimes you can’t find content or it’s paywalled
I'm a physical movie collector, dvd, blurays, 4k, another advantage over streaming is dvds unlikely to be edited when they are on streaming, case in point Fawlty towers, Love thy neighbour, old shows like those will never be shown on streaming uncut
I've been building up a good collection of DVDs in recent years, yes, Blu Ray is better quality, but they lack any substantial extras, where DVDs can be packed with BTS docs and the likes. I can see DVD going the way of vinyl and coming back in popularity, get them whilst they're cheap.
I'm a long term film fan. - I worked in cinemas for near a decade, and before that ran a video shop for about a year. I always preferred physical media as it allows me to watch what I want, when I want, without paying a fee each time. Charity shops are great for DVD's, Blu-ray's at great prices. I have often picked up entire box sets of series for less than the price of a new DVD single film. Currently I have around a thousand titles on DVD, and about an equal number of books. - The most I have paid was around £50, for a box set of (?) Supernatural series 1 to 8, most single DVD's are around 50p or £1, sets are £1 to £10.
I had that notion years ago about dvd. If I have them physically I can back them all up and I'll always have them. Have around 1300 dvds including movies and tv shows. Its fantastic. The girlfriend went to rent A Nightmare On Elm Street this week, said it cost €10. I bought the entire collection for €15 and can watch any of them, anytime and forever. If you like specific movies/tv shows its a no brainer to me. Similar idea with physical games
So many films I've looked for recently aren't on streaming platforms so I'm in the charity shops buying dvd's for 3/4/5 for a quid.....just 'nice to have the option'
I have a physical collection of dvd, blu ray and 4k because as like you say if internet went off then you still have things to watch. Also the fact that films appear and disappear regularly across the streaming services plus no one can really afford to subscribe to every service and it's also cheaper to have a collection, although it's a case of having room to store them.
The movie also showed a home with a very large vinyl record collection and they were listening to music during the internet outage. leave the world behind definitely “highlighted” the physical media importance.
I started collecting DVD, Blu-ray & 4K UHD this year after being aware that streaming prices were going up, films/TV was spread over fragmented services and censorship / removal of content or music was occuring on streaming service versions. I collect 4K UHD first, but ill get a Blu-ray if the other isnt available, and sometimes ill get a DVD on a 6x for £1 deal in a charity shop if its rare.
I've started collecting Blu Rays recently because of the better image quality and the fact a LOT of films/tv shows are converted from NTSC to PAL and then the playback speed is sped up!
First world problems: My TV is too big for DVD's. Earlier this year I slowly began curating a film collection focusing on my favourite films and trying to get steelbooks for them
I've collected WWF/WWE my hole life videos 1st then DVDs, as you can imagine it's a large collection so i decided to copy everything to hard drive to compact the collection down to 3 hardrives
I love collecting Blu Ray and 4k more then games these days. Anyone missing that friday night trip to Blockbuster the cex £1 section can bring back that friday night nostalgia on the cheap 😂
I love Movies and have been collecting Movies that I love and have a special meaning for me for over 30 years and I'm not the type of person who gets the 4K UHD into the house but the good old DVD and for my all-time favorites from the 80s and 90s, the Bluray is more than enough for me to enjoy because I grew up with most films from those decades. The image quality on the DVD doesn't bother me that much because with certain older films I don't have to see it super sharp and i have only 55 inches 4K TV.
Dvds are so cheap that there is no downside to get a small curated dvd collection. Luckily for me I never got rid of my original dvd collection so all I did was get rid of some and replace them with my fav movies, I've got around 50 dvds of pure heat and its nice to look at in my room! Now's the time, u never know dvds might increase in price in a couple of years
I've only recently started to buy dvds to make a somewhat collection. What ive been doing is buying sealed dvds and dvds for my collection from my local charity shop 10 for 1 pound I will then swap the new cases with the ones I have in my collection so it feels like a new dvd. Call me crazy but it's addictive 😂
I've got a few DVDs in my collection still. Either because they haven't released the stuff on blu ray or the blu ray is extortionately priced Trigun, Spaced, Inbetweeners aren't on blu ray so I've got them on dvd. The universal monster movie collections are extortionately priced on blu ray so I've got the dvds
Most of the movies I buy are thrifted DVDs. I get them for 10 to 50 cents a piece. I don't notice the difference in quality that much. I have a 42 inch TV which is big enough for me. It never bothers me. I do buy new movies on Blu Ray and sometimes I'll upgrade a favorite movie to Blu Ray, but I try to limit that to 1 a month. I prefer 90s and 00s movies anyway. Blu Ray never really took off over here, so there aren't many to be found second hand.
I indeed have a physical collection. Mostly 4k and Blu-Ray but I do pick up DVDs from charity shops if I find a bargain, for example, I got the entire Fast Show collection set for £2.50 and all the Monty Phython movies for £2 just recently. Crazy bargains!
I love dvds I still buy dvds and I'm glad shops are still selling dvds and dvds are so much cheapper to buy then bluie Ray's and 4k. I have a massive dvd collection of films and tv shows and Michael Jackson and a massive Disney dvd collection and doctor who dvds because not everything is on streaming service and when u buy dvd u own it because these streaming apps take stuff away from u and dvds r great for when u r in the ich to wach that tv show or film and these streaming services dont have it or u got to pay extra monny to watch it on streaming but with dvds u can walk to your dvd shelf and put on your dvd player and enjoy it. 😊
If you are collecting tv/film media for actually watching (not wanting a nice shelf or wall of stuff), just torrent it and keep everything on a hard drive that plugs into your tv. If you want a bit of effort you can even set up a NAS and access your media anywhere. But plug and play usb hard drives work fine too. I have about 10TB of film and tv shows at the moment, ready to watch. Basically everything you complained about VHS, applies to disc media too in a smaller way. Better Quality, more stable medium, easier to backup, easier to play anywhere, less space taken up, and best of all... it's free.
I collect DVD and blu ray - thrift only unless it’s a really exceptional or important film (Lord of the Rings, Dark Knight…). And limit myself to nostalgia/top favourites.
I recently picked up Phoenix Night season 1 & 2 on dvd from CEX as I couldn’t find it anywhere to watch. It was such a hassle putting in and playing a dvd and navigating menus. We really are spoiled with the convenience of streaming. 😂
Me. I buy these. not sure how you missed it? It came out less than a year ago, making it still a somewhat new release imo. less than great scores for both the book & film tho
A year or so ago I bought the odd Horror dvd but now I'm more into 4k UHD Blu-ray since I realised my ps5 could handle it. I always thought you needed a 4k UHD tv to get it looking good but the film I wated, The Ring 1998, looked amazing on my 10yr old regular HD tv!
If you start buying 4Ks, be prepared to go down the rabbit hole of buying high end equipment to see the benefits. I now have OLED TVs in multiple rooms, with Q990C soundbars, the experience is much better than any cinema I’ve ever been to.
Maybe Blu-ray is a norm for movies but even mega-popular TV like CSI has only ever been released on DVD, and they started in 2002; I think they tested a couple of later seasons but people just bought the DVDs. And sadly, in the UK, again probably due to infrastructure helped by the small size of the country, the general population seem quite happy with either streaming because, (despite you quite correctly saying, things like *Brittas Empire* are hard to find and actually end up being more expensive to subscribe) many prefer the convenience *OR* (and I heard this myself more than once, back when Supermarkets sold physical media because streaming hadn't reached the point of making 'physical' a 'collector only' item) people would see a movie they liked in the Blu-ray new releases and, despite what TV they may have, turn to whoever they were with and suggest they checked if they had it on DVD to save a little money. Sad to say waaaaay too many people I know, even to this day, say they "can't see any difference between Blu-ray and DVD"... personally I think a lot is down to people not actually *watching* with full attention but just casually whilst they also do their emails, check social media or play games on their phone. Just my opinion of course from limited observations... As you may have gathered by my comment (and my RUclips/Channel name 🤣) I certainly do collect physical media... even to the extent I won't pay for a 'pure' streaming service (ie one that's just streaming; I have *Prime* because I have that for physical purchases anyway) because I believe their business practises of not releasing their created content on physical media ever (like _Netflix_ seem to and _Disney_ used to and often still does) is killing my hobby of collecting, which I enjoy for its own sake *as well as* (not instead of, I would like to emphasise) having the movies and TV available to watch.
Regarding dvds i hace titles like Shopgirl not on blu-ray and Deadly Pursuit cos of the same reason, recently upgraded The Hitcher on 4k uhd from second sight, bought Splash last year on blu-ray was not cheap but plays ok, need the Chase stars Charlie Sheen not on blu-ray and it looks good,, And yes i do own Cocoon on Blu-ray steelbook.
DVD doesn't look as great, but blu-ray has too many hiccups if you use a computer and disc drive. Even VLC is a nightmare with blu-ray. A durable, traditional player is a must.
in asda they had lord of the rings trilogy dvd brand new £10 go in charity shop next door find an older version £1.50 bargain. got goonies 50p bragain.

Yeah all the old sitcoms are best having on dvd, can't beat the the whole lot in a boxset.
Love Thy Neighbour lol. Used to watch that as a kid. It's on RUclips uncut or at least it was.
Obviously little Britain won't ever be available on a streaming service again
one day, after then end of the world, a kid will walk into a big building and find 496 copies of brain trainer.
what a lucky kid
😂

I can see DVD going the way of vinyl and coming back in popularity, get them whilst they're cheap.
What dvd has more extras than their BD counterpart?
Blurays usually do have all those things you mentioned too. Sometimes more.
DVD’s had superior menus and features than Blu-ray’s but without a CRT the quality of DVD just isn’t there.
I'm a long term film fan. - I worked in cinemas for near a decade, and before that ran a video shop for about a year. Charity shops for dvds and blu rays. Can't go wrong. For the ones that don't show up in charity shops it's CEX.
I’m hoping physical media stays with us for a long time I prefer it more then digital
I’ve literally started doing this. Grabbing all my favourite films on 4k and any obscure tv shows on dvd. Definitely worth doing.
The PS3 console is my go to dvd player! It has great upscaling features
I had that notion years ago about dvd. If I have them physically I can back them all up and I'll always have them. Have around 1300 dvds including movies and tv shows. Its fantastic. The irony that Netflix made this.
So many films I've looked for recently aren't on streaming platforms so I'm in the charity shops buying dvd's for 3/4/5 for a quid.....just 'nice to have the option'

I remember when the £1 dvds were 50p not too long ago
god bless physical media!
Physical media is key for movies, otherwise they could be “remastered” or censored in the future. Look at ET and Star Wars.
I'm from Tampa,Florida and I just did video on which worked better (physical media or digital) during Hurricane Milton.
I started collecting DVD, Blu-ray & 4K UHD this year after being aware that streaming prices were going up, films/TV was spread over fragmented services and censorship / removal of content or music was occuring on streaming service versions. Like me recently couldn't find casper on any stream programme so had to buy it on dvd to show my son
Yep really enjoyed Leave the World Behind!
First world problems: My TV is too big for DVD's.

Physical. Media. That. Time. Forgot
That store is awesome! Wish I had a place like that in my town.
I love collecting Blu Ray and 4k more then games these days. Anyone missing that friday night trip to Blockbuster the cex £1 section can bring back that friday night nostalgia on the cheap 😂
I met “blue Ray” once outside the smoked terrace in Bolton he’s got some good stuff 😂
Got to get Max and Paddies road to nowhere while your at it!
Tvm goes to the car boot for dvds pays 10p each for them and takes them to cex for 10p voucher
He’d take 5p 😂
Me. I buy these.
not sure how you missed it? It came out less than a year ago, making it still a somewhat new release imo. less than great scores for both the book & film tho

dvds outsells 4k's and blurays by a large margin by the way so alot of people buy dvds
ya i collect dvds and blurays

I buy dvd and blue ray because i well into my films plus most of the time
The stream app don't have that one movie
I would not get dvd, picture quality is not very good but l have got a favourite collection of about 60 movies in 1080p Bluray and 4K
Lol I'm trying to sell my vast dvd and Blu ray collection at the moment, I've done a couple of car boot sales they shift very slowly
I have a lot of dvds although I’ve cut my collection down a lot recently 😢
Ironically if the power goes out you cant fire up the dvd player
DVD doesn't look as great, but blu-ray has too many hiccups if you use a computer and disc drive. Even VLC is a nightmare with blu-ray. A durable, traditional player is a must.
Tvm steals your dvds for cex credit
TVM steals your DVDs for SEX credit more like 😂
in asda they had lord of the rings trilogy dvd brand new £10 go in charity shop next door find an older version £1.50 bargain. got goonies 50p bragain.
You can get dvds much cheaper at car boot sales than at cex
Viviane Throughway
TVM copy’s Netflix shows and trades them in at CEX for CEX credit!
USB my friend think about it
TVM finishes himself until completion for CEX credit
😂😂😂😂😂😂☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
Killer klowns from outer space £22 to buy at cex £11 credit 👍🏻 it’s out of Print 👍🏻
I don’t collect games I’ve watched your videos since the fifa days and just continued watching ur content m8
Also the the good things bout dvd are the obvious no internet needed you always have the movie if u want to watch it unlike Amazon or Netflix even if u put it on your watch list . The movies get taken down all time and put on to another streaming service which I always find annoying and if your like me and like a lot of small b movies horror movies they don’t always have everything on it
nice video
You want buy Doovde 😂
ve been following your channel for a while now and I'm a bit confused about the direction of your content. Initially, it seemed like you were collecting games, but then you sold them off. Streaming sucks!
And there's nothing wrong with dvd, especially with older movies.
I have over 8000 dvd/blurays.
Oh and a same amount of cd's, some 2000 books, 2000 games and the whopper....over 55 000 comics.
Physical forever!!!
Yeah in an apocalypse a portable DVD player, a handheld or a phone with digital rips of files as backups. But yeah new ones whether DVD, Blu ray, 4K BRs or the Chinese format I saw of Tech Moan covered of San Andreas the action film with the rock Dwyane Johnson that's format quality worse than DVD I think. It's worth a watch.
I buy anime DVDs/Blu rays. Not many from thrift/second hand stores but more new releases rarely with series I am actually interested in. Pricey but betythrn online searching unless overseas anime films that don't go to the services or disk and waiting compared to the tv series all because of sales it's annoying we would support it but nope they won't do so.
Only the biggest IPs get a cinema and even then those that could sometimes get 1 cinema....... Just get the physical or look online instead or give up supporting or seeing it at all unless searching for it.
PSP Minis for sure are great of Indies offline then PSN and dead once Vita/PS3 stores go offline.
But yeah 480p yeah on 32 inch I this fine but yeah bit rate or resolution and more are great on physical not streaming.
Some are hard to find, for cheap old ones. New releases it varies.
For me for anime I have to buy them new as I see them cycling in the really small shelf while live action/western shows are more reasonable ones.
Heard of a few you mentioned some well known, some.niche.
Yeah the prices, the sub prices, demand to watch them, in the shelf, cheap and whenever ready.
Getting portable DVDs or the file digitally offline why not.
😲🤯
My other main collection alongside games is Vinyls, I’m happy to listen to music if the worlds ending 😅
Disagree on the quality of picture I got a 55ich Sony 4k tv and I watch dvds on it just fine. I also watch blue ray and 4k dvd . Yet u watch videos lol 😂 I grew up with vhs to and always hated the picture on the tracking awful. Be cool to see u pic up dvds I am a big movie person just don’t tell me again the new alien movie was good cuz I couldn’t stand it lol 😂
0 views bro fell off 🗿💀
waste of space physical
Just a quick recommendation if I may: Fun at the Funeral Parlor. You won't be disappointed 🤣
Unfortunately a large chunk of UK TV releases tend towards DVD over BD. Not everything but the less big shows need importing (and of course if not Region free require a multi-region).
Thankfully I have a cheap BD player for my bedroom projector that has a multi-region hack but it's a pain not being able to watch in the main room on the PS5 is a pain!
