I started working on the ritual back in 2015, and have been using your videos every single day for the past year. 365 thank you's (with more to come) for all the work that went into putting this up. It means a lot to me and to the entire drumming community. You have achieved super hero status, just thought you should know that.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, James. It's comments like yours that make it all worthwhile. I'm happy to hear that it has been a useful resource!
Thank you awesome work! i've been playing the ritual from 1998 when my teacher at that time Roberto Faenzi showed me the Alan Dawson method...great exercise and thank you again for the play along
This is amazing!! thanks so much for taking time to get this right. The cd is waaaay to fast for me. Now... i start a year long project trying to play this daily.
Just been enlightened to this masterpiece myself ! This will be HUGELY beneficial to me.. Without meaning to sound un-grateful... would it be at all possible to get the audio WITHOUT the foot pattern. I'm learning it with a drumming mate with a different obstinato. No probs if not - can of course ignore what's already there. Cheers Michael
Here you go, Tom. I made audio versions without the foot pattern, both with and without a click. Like the RUclips videos, they have a range of tempos. Enjoy! www.dropbox.com/s/joinkbzx139ropp/Rudimental_Ritual_No_Foot_Pattern_Optional_Click.zip?dl=0
Double Drag is not played correctly, 5 stroke roll line not written correctly, Didn't play last 2 notes of Swiss triplet 2nd time around on both R and L lead, Last part of flam 5 stroke line not written correctly. That's as far as I got and can do the rest later if you'd like. Is that you playing or a drum machine?
Thanks, Andy. I noticed that the book is notated incorrectly in some parts (at least based on the CD recording), and I tried to reconcile that with what I heard, realizing that I might not get everything 100%. I'll certainly review your comments. You might have missed it in the description, but the notes were entered directly into Sibelius (by Avid) and exported as MIDI. The feel is a bit robotic, but I wanted a solid reference, since the timing was what I struggled with the most.
