I studied orchestration with Paul Whear at the Interlochen Music Camp in Michigan, USA in the late 1980s. It's so nice, 30 years later, to finally hear one of his compositions.
Wow!!!! Does this bring back memories. The high school I attended, back in the early 70's, performed this piece. We loved our teacher/conductor. He was so great!!! He ALWAYS presented us with newly released/composed music. Music that was very cutting edge. This piece was a challenge and so much fun to perform. Mr. S always challenged us. He never settled for the everyday, mundane high school concert band music scores. He always gave us music that other high school bands where not playing at the time. Band contests were always fun and rewarding. We performed cool music. One of his favorite things to say, to get the point across that we were a group, where each and every musician was important to the end product was, "The band was only as good as the weakest link." We will always remember you Mr. S.

Were we in the same band? Thomas Jefferson High School's symphonic band played this in 1972. By brother and I were the euphonium section.
I played in the North Hills High School percussion section when we played this at the Midwest-Band and Orchestra Clinic. 1971

この曲は「天理高校」のコンクール演奏以来、あまり耳にしませんでしたが、結構エキサイティングな曲想とオーケストレーションで、ワイルドなサウンドが堪能出来た楽曲ですよね。懐かしく聴かせていただきました。
ところで、別件なのですが、吹奏楽では同じタイトルで「環状列石（ストーンヘンジⅡ）」という作品がありますよね。ヤマハ浜松が取り上げていたでしょうか・・・。
その作曲者「菅野由弘」氏の作品で、「崩壊の神話」（N響の委嘱）という作品について、ご存知でしたら、少しレクチャー頂きたいのですが・・・。タイトルが気になったもので。
相変わらず、「響層（石井眞木）」の動画は、愛聴させて頂いてます。m(__)m

さて、菅野由弘の曲ですが、彼は名前は知っておりますが作品を聴いたことがございません……
しかし、N響の委嘱ということで、N響の演奏会記録を参照しましたところ、1995/5/7のMusic tomorrowの演奏会でN響により世界初演され、同演奏会ではその年に尾高賞を受賞した、猿谷紀郎の「ゆらら おりみだり」と、藤家渓子の「思いだす ひとびとのしぐさを」、そしてペンデレツキ「交響曲 第4番 『アダージョ』」も演奏されたようです。(こちらをご参照くださいwww.nhkso.or.jp/library/archive/index.php)
ですので、NHKのアーカイブに残っているようなので、NHKFMの番組にリクエストしたりすれば聴けるかもしれません……

その後、私も調べたのですが、あまり情報が無く、たまたま、コンディションの良い「USED品」の商品「崩壊の神話」を見かけたので、思い切って購入してしまいました。(笑)
演奏は「尾高／N響」そのものでした。菅野氏は、多岐なジャンルで作品を発表されている方のようですね。
ただ、楽曲を聴いた印象は、最初は何か雰囲気を感じさせてくれましたが、中間から後半は、よくわからないような感じのまま、終わってしまったような・・・。
でも、この時期は、現代音楽の素晴らしい作品がたくさん埋もれているような気がしています。
余談ですが、その後、菅野氏のピアノ作品のCDも購入し、こちらは、聴きやすく、私には合っている楽曲でした。(笑)
