I was going to point that out and immediately came to the comment section. To my surprise it had already been commented. I'm glad you noticed it too. :)
i have watched this video what seems to be 1,000 times and every time it's like the first time. He plays with guts and soul at the end. Finally, a pianist who takes the ending of this song and soars with it. The big ending is a show! Bravo!
I am a pianist and the piano is my favorite instrument. He does a very commendable job bringing out all the different melodies and parts, but the piano can’t do justice to the full orchestration. It is short changing the huge and complex depth of richness and layers this piece requires. He plays very well and brings out all the parts but the Pas de Deux demands full orchestration. That being said I much prefer this ending rather than the weak ones on some other transcriptions.. the weight and glory and majesty of this amazing piece deserve more than a piano can give it. Nothing less than a full orchestra can provide the magnitude this masterpiece demands and. Deserves.
T 52:00, the Cellist in the background is silently 'dueting' with the soloist. In the original score, this is where the cellos have the lead in the melody.
I like his virtuoso ending to the Pletnev arrangement, which is more in line with the original orchestration rather than Pletnev's subdued ending. Quite a virtuoso performance!
Мне нравится это исполнение тем, что Sheng Cai уделяет внимание мелодии на фоне арпеджио и играет с чувствами и личным отношением к музыке! Пока что это моё самое любимое исполнение этого сочинения в транскрипции фортепиано. I like it!
Thank you dear Sheng. I love have lovely memories with this piece and your beautiful rendition made me feel really nostalgic. I want to stand up and dance right away!
I love Sheh Cai for I have felt something special at the middle and near the end of it. He's got something special, and I feel he does care a lot about this performance. Thanks, Shen Cai.
I don’t know if this is a legend, but the story is that this piece came about as a bet from one of Tchaikovsky’s contemporaries that he couldn’t create a credible classical arrangement from a scale. Talk about a mic drop response. Kapow!!!
Para esta tarde tan fría de julio en Buenos Aires, Sheng Cai, interpreta a Tchaikovsky, como pocos, con alma, sentimiento y emoción. Gracias amigo lejano, la música une a todos por igual. Carlos Alberto Fangano, barrio Floresta, Buenos AIres, 10.07.2020.
This might be my favorite rendition of this piece which is not to the others aren't at all bad; just seems more spirited, has a greater depth of feeling.
One of the GREATEST pieces ever written. Well-miked and interpreted. Bravo!
While the music is the best, I have to say this piano quality/sound is terrible, sounds like cracked. 😮
Love the cello player in the background at 0:56 playing along with he's fingers.
Wow, I didnt realize myself, great to point it out Sam, and nice to meet you !
Nice Observation! How great xD

It’s a big celli solo in the orchestra part.

Amazing performance but I agree. Nothing can match the cataclysmic glory of this piece played by full orchestra
@@matthewkolodziej Cataclysmic glory nails it!

This ending is from Tchaikovsky’s own transcription!
@@atlantspan3887 Tchaikovsy had his own transcription of this?
This is full of pathos and passion. It is a favorite of mine.
Merry Christmas !!!!!!!!
EraPianist how hard is it to play?
I'd say it's not one of the most difficult pieces to play but it needs a lot of practice and technique to make the arpeggios to sound smooth.
My favourite piano transcription! I filmed it in a ballroom recently (on my page). Would love to hear your thoughts, Sheng :)
actually really beautiful - music and venue
A most wonderful performance! Where was the venue? A 1905 Beaux Arts designed townhouse in NYC?
