Thaks fro the video ! The same thing happened and dashboard "worked" as yours.I was about to open the console But lazy as I was, I tried firstly to dry it . I did not open the console and used hairdryer on the console for 4 min and let the car run 15 min on high inner temp . So Strangely - today I was ready to do everything what you didi , everything worked again ! It can be repaired with hairdryer aswell. :-)
You are one of these good people out there. I have been quoted $4522.33 from Audi dealership. Randomly i saw your video and decided to try it. Actually i bought the electronic board from Amazon about $155 to make sure i buy it from a US seller so if something was wrong i could easily return and be refunded. My parts arrived yesterday and after i watched your video it took 15 minutes me to change the board. It works now!!!!! I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT YOU POSTED THIS VIDEO TO HELP US OUT!!!!!! YOU ARE A GREAT PERSON
My man, you just saved my daughter thousands. I followed step by step, works like a charm. She thinks her dads a rock star. Thanks for helping us out. We owe you!
If I can do it, you can do it! Oh my goodness! I cannot thank you enough posting this video! I literally just finished changing the control board. I am an elementary principal who knows zero about car mechanics. I watched your video about a month ago and didn't have the confidence to do it myself. I took my car to the mechanic and didn't like the price but at least my mechanic was KIND enough to to let me show him YOUR video and he encouraged me to do it myself. Even with it taking me 20 darn minutes to figure out the torque tool, I replaced the board and put things together in under an hour! Hot diggity dog. It took me a few more minutes because I have push to start and I was clueless how to take out the wires and I didn't; just worked around them. I chipped my nail polish but saved enough money ($3200 to be exact) that I can drive my happy self to the salon and have them done! I am raising a glass of good libations in your honor, Mr. 4 Realz!
Awesome tutorial! You make a novice look like a pro and motivated me to try it myself. I found the part you recommended and also ordered a new trim and volume knob (per your recommended site - thanks). All went extremely well! I found that using a small flat head (the size that comes in an eyeglass repair kit), worked well in disengaging the tabs. Nothing broke, I put everything back together again and am so happy that I saved thousands on this repair! The control center looks brand new and works great! Now that my control knob works, I can finally remove my ex-husband's name from my phone list ;-) ! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and helping us save $$$!
Thank you for taking the time to post this video. I followed it to the letter including the eBay link to buy the new board. $60 later and a few tooth picks and my Q7 MMI is back to normal. My favourite part of this fix is the tooth picks. The simple solutions are the best. Thanks again!
Thanks for taking the time to do this, I am sure you've helped a lot more people than you think because this is a common problem in many Audis. I have an 06 A8l with rain damaged mmi. I will first try to clean it, if not see if there are circuit boards for it as well. Your video was tremendous help, thanks a million.
+bruno937 Thanks for the kind words. If you have trouble finding a board, Let me know I will try and help. I found this board in the crevices after all lol. Nice car you have there. I like to think of the 4 rings as a family , Glad I could help in some way.
new board just showed up, swapped it out in 20 minutes WORKS JUST LIKE NEW!!!!!! thanks!! FYI the whole fake wood part will pull straight out, unplug 4 wires, then you can remove the plastic chrome on you desk
4 Realz,I too greatly apperivate that you took the time to post and share your experiences with swapping out the mmi board. I was also able to obtain a new mmi board from Hong Kong at a reasonable price. The tooth pick idea was priceless and far better than using a flat head screwdriver to separate the plates. Your informative video was short and right to the point. Safe travels.
Hey, Thanks for the kind words, Tooth picks are the tool for this job. I am glad I could help and it all worked out for you. Safe travels to you as well.
I wanted send you a BIG THANK YOU for this video because it help us so much!!! I just placed my order for the hard drive and can't wait to have my husband fix my Audi. Wish me luck and once my radio works I will be letting you know. You have saved us thousands of dollars. Once again THANK YOU!!!!
The same situation and need happened to me. Thank you for your great and encouraging video. I first attempted to save the old board with some improvement after cleaning but still needed replacement. I found that it was not necessary to remove the center control knob as it can stay in place. Purchased and installed new one and works perfectly. Season greetings and THANK YOU!
Glad it all worked out for you. Thanks for the added info on other supplier for the board and about the center knob not needing to be removed. Every time I get a comment it makes me happy I did this video. Hope you have a great new year and Merry X-mas to you.
hi i receive my circuit board ,i saw your video one more time before to change my board, then i make it fast like you and it work's. my problem was the big knob, i couldn't fix the hour and everything that work with this knob.that was cola spilled on the board..i am so very happy . thank's a lot
What's up man. I just want to let you know that I got my navigation system installed and running finally thanks to your help and your advices. Just like you said it was very easy once you have the right parts. Really appreciate it
Thank you, 4 Realz for a great video how-to. I followed your steps and it all worked as shown. Until I got to the wire harness your's doesn't have, the one for the engine start/stop buttons. I couldn't figure out how to disconnect that plug. I wanted to take to assembly with the push buttons out to clean off the soft drink residue. So I just did the cleanup in place. Your video made the job MUCH easier. Thank again.
+Jeff Hood Glad it helped . I would like to upgrade mine to add the start stop button. I don't think its too hard. Thanks for the comment and nice words. Glad it worked out for you.
He is the Man! Best Damn video in fixing Audi Q7 MMI! Fixing mine this week. So bummed my screen has been off for months. I look forward to more posts. Q7 guy on Maui.
I am going to try this. I pray it works. My light used to go on and off until eventually they didnt come on anymore and i can't use the knob to cycle thru the options. I could press the knob to select something tho and the volume button worked but none of the other buttons would work or light up. I don't recall spilling anything on it. I live in Vegas. It may just be the summer heat
Hi I just finished changing mine and it works...... :) thanks a lot for sharing your video (the best part was with the toothpicks I was struggling to take that silver part off but than played your video again and it just popped out) , you just saved me $2600 since that is how much Audi Quoted me.I bought the electronic board from eBay for just $90 and it took me 30 min to change it. Thanks a lot again, Greetings From Serbia!
hello.from adelaide sa ,video was great help and helped me understand whats going on with my Q7 and has saved me 5000 dollars from my mechanic who is insisting its the amp,,thx heaps
wow this video helped out a lot. thankyou so much man you are a life saver i was out in toronto got in my car realized the mmi was not working searched and found this amazing video. happy holidays god bless
Harry S.... Sounds like I'm right there with you. Unless we both got bad boards, we have something else going on. Luckily I found a friend of a friend who owns an electronic store. I drop the car off Monday. I'll let you all know. He suspects it's a break in the Fiber Optic loop which I've read on another post. Basically, it's a continuous loop. The fiber optic cable goes through several parts. The MMI board being one of those. It also runs through the blue tooth, any phone system that was originally installed. The amplifier, nav, and cd disk changer among others. Several people have experienced the phone system failing. That places a break in the loop and the MMI will shut down to protect itself.
You Rock !!! Best part of the video when your wife sighed because of the broken clip. She was a trooper though. I fixed our '09 for the wifey too. You saved me $950 !!!!
I also bought the boys just in case because it takes about 2 months to get delivered to Australia and thought I'd give it a shot trying to clean it like you said and that works good on you for putting this up here. just a tip for all you at home is that there's a fantastic site in Germany where you can buy Audi parts for a fraction of the cost that you would pay in Australia or any other country it is all in German though so you'll have to use Google Translate to figure out the particulars I purchased a mirror for the driver side on this site costing me only $150 including postage with as most of you would know is a good saving from the $700 quoted from a wrecker and as every out he has multiple different plug it's almost impossible to find the website is called algero
omg thank you thank you God bless you cause i was going crazy with a 9 month old baby no music or cd you made it easy to fallow your instructions and i did it all by my self .. try cleaning it didnt work so i went to the second best thing purchase the mmi i keep u posted....
+Lourden Yessenia Rodriguez That's awesome. No music doesn't make the q7 very luxary lol. Glad it all worked out and happy you did it your self and saved a lot of money.
Ok. I completely explained my problem incorrectly. All buttons work except for the large knob. I can press to select an option but I can't cycle thru the options when I turn the knob left or right. The buttons also do not light up. I took it all apart and cleaned the board but I'm still having the same issue. I ordered a new board. Fingers crossed that it works when I get it
Thank you it is beneficial video. I have Q7 4.2 2008 and my Radio and CD is not working only . i hope it is programming problem and in case it is the board then i will buy it and change it my self. Thank you again
The electronics place hit it right on the head. I had a break in the fiber optic loop. The culprit was the Sirus radio receiver. I don't have a Sirus radio subscription and don't care to in the future. So he just bypassed it. Labor was $240. The receiver was another $400 if I chose to keep it but I decided to bypass. Other known issues that will do the same thing are the bluetooth receivers, handsfree phone and boss radio amplifier. All can be bypassed if you don't care to keep them. Parts can be pricey if still do.
That is good to know, But I installed my Sirus and my navigation for a few hundred , That included a splitter for power wire and fiber optic Y splitter. I assume the $240 was for him trying to find the problem. I think mine had a loop where my sirus connected and I took it off and put in the Y so I could add the Sirus and Navigation.
You rock man!!! I was thinking about buying an 2013 audi Q7.. and was reading that this car always give you MMI issues and needed replacement.. and BAM found this... it makes me less worry now... btw with these cars what other things I need to watch out for ? are these car like BMW's ? where you will get oil leaks and smokes coming out of your tailpipes ? and coolant system blowing up ?
I own 2 Audi's and if you take care of them , they take care of you. I don't know what you mean by "are they like bmw's" I can tell you every winter I plow through the snow while my neighbor gets stuck and is digging out his BMW lol. I love my Audi's.
outstanding vid, great to see people taking the time to help others. I definitely would have taken the time to rinse/dry that rubber membrane with distilled water but maybe you did and just didn't show it. great work .. is that your wife filming you?? "my wife hates when I break stuff in her car " lol
+Clive Young Thanks for the kinds words. I have used so many DIY videos, I felt I should give back. I had it all out and cleaned it , and put it back in while waiting on the new board so I could record the process. Yea, she was filming , Talk about being under pressure lol. She is a good sport, After all it was her coffee that damaged the board in t he 1st place.
Hi, just wanted to ask when you said you can clean the board are you referring to the actual board inside like the one you brought from the internet or are you referring to the black plastic that covers the board? Also if it is the green board that you clean won't that damage it to once it gets wet? Thanks
+Ameena Mukhtar Yes I mean clean the green Circuit board. I used Alcohol pads as I had nothing to lose but the damage was already done. I have seen similar boards submerged in Alcohol for a few days with no negative effects.
Great video! Thanks for the help. Have taken mine apart as have same problem. I don't know if I'm being blind though, but I cannot see the link for purchasing the new board? Audi Uk want £900 for a new MMI!
+Ian Cushing Sorry Ian , Here is the link , I will post in description as well. Glad I can help. www.ebay.com/itm/2015-new-for-Audi-Multimedia-Keys-E380-Circuit-Board-with-Navigation/131509560124?_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D33097%26meid%3D578364283bda47918e09f66ec0271b5e%26pid%3D100012%26rk%3D9%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D151669788363#shpCntId
My man! Great work. Followed your video to aT. Got to the finish line, put the keys in the ignition and was totally defeated when the MMI system did not work. I've read something about splits in fiber optics wires. Where do I find them? Little help here. THANKS!
Hi mate, did you get any further with this one? I ordered two boards and tested both and I still have the same issue. Wondering if you could find other parts that might cause this issue? Help is much appreciated.
Thanks for a great video! I also need to replace the silver trim around the MMI console (the one you used toothpicks to remove). Do you happen to know where I can find that?
Thanks, I am not sure the year of your car, a few of them are compatible, I have seen the whole console with all the buttons and trim for $100 used on ebay, But here is one that I think might fit. www.ebay.com/itm/New-Genuine-VAG-OEM-Audi-A6-2005-2011-Front-Console-Frame-4F0864260A/112046512878?_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D38530%26meid%3D72683cc5cc424684b19b9a060b067d4a%26pid%3D100012%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D152199562443
Hi, great video. I just received the circuit board today and followed all of your steps, which are so easy btw, but once I tried to connect the module back into my car it still does not work, any ideas why? I even submerged the original in alcohol to see if it would even start working but nothing happened as well. I have a 2008 Q7 4.2
Thanks for the comment. I would check all the wiring harness and move them around to make sure its not a connection problem. You would not be the 1st person to get a faulty/defected board. If everything fails, contact the seller and tell him the board is faulty. What are you MMI symptoms ? Do you know it is liquid damage ? I hope you can get it worked out and keep us informed please.
Thanks, yes it was liquid damage from my son spilling water on it and when we removed the board it was covered in rust, I tried to clean it with alcohol and reinstalled it and its still doing the same thing. The MMI display comes on then goes off, every now and then the display will come and play music but shut right off, probably happened 2-3x over the course of this problem. Should I also unhook the battery?
No don't unhook the battery. I am thinking you got a defected board. It happens. I would tell the seller and ask for a replacement board and try that. It would not be the 1st time.
Hi thank you for the video it was very informative. I am having some other issues with my 2008 Audi Q7 and I would like to fix them myself, I would really appreciate it if you or anyone else could help. First issue: My car keeps dying. I changed the battery and tested the alternator which is giving me a reading of 14.1 which is good... but if I leave the car off for more than 12 hours it dies and requires a jump. I am unsure of what the problem is at this point. Second issue: My start/stop buttons, volume knobs and some of the other buttons on the center console are faded and I would like to replace them. If someone could help to point me in the right direction to getting both of these issues resolved without it costing me an arm and a leg I would be very grateful. Thanks!
hi there.. I cannot believe I have just stumbled across this video! We have a 2007 Q7 and about 5 years ago I had a major dispute with Audi as this happened to our MM1 system due to liquid damage. It drive us insane and was a $5000 REPLACEMENT charge which I did not eventually pay thank God due to sticking to my guns about a terrible sign flaw in their vehicle! Anyhow .. this has happened to us AGAIN. My 3yr climbed over my fee whilst car was in the garage and boom.. coffee everywhere freezing the system. We are pulling iit apart and is trying to clean it as we speak, however if this does not fix the issue I will order one from the link you provided and we will give this a go! I am so very thankful for your video and praying it works in our 2007 model? Do you think so? Hope so. It makes you think these big buck companies charging people so much for something that only takes 20 minutes and a $70 part! awful isn't it... thanks soon much and wish us luck!
+Georgette F Thanks for your kind words. Sorry to hear about your accident. Yes it will work on 2007 models that came with navigation. Its crazy how much they over charge . Should not be legal.
Your step-by-step process was amazing. I even created a manual out of it (screen caps) and used it to fix my '08 Q7. Awesome job. You saved me a ton of money. Also the eBay store where I got it? Awesome quality;they delivered on time ( it took a while but they delivered on time) and it was worth it. Probably clean my board off and sell it for pennies on the dollar someone can try on their own. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for the help, I received the new circuit board today and I installed it.......however it still does not work, well, half of the board works......the push start and stop, but not the radio portion. The only thing it could be is the connection. Do you know if you can order the little connection? Bummed, 😔but you made it easy for this Texas girl to do all by herself! 😊
You are very welcome. I am not sure I know what you mean ? yours has the push start button ? It could also be a faulty board. I would check connections and then return the new board for a replacement. Did you get the board from my link ? what year is your Q7 ?
+4 Realz I used your link, when I plug in the connector for the push start, that part works.......its just the radio that doesn't work. I have a 2007 Q7.
Did the boards look the same ? Did the push start work before ? If the boards looked identical other than color, I would contact the seller and tell him its not working and to send another. Its not the first time someone got a faulty board.
Hi. I heard you saying in this video you also installed a navigation system in the same audi q7. I am wondering if you can post a video about it. I have a 2009 q7 3.6 saying navigation is not installed .I would really appreciate it
It was real easy to install the Nav, Dealer said it couldn't be done because it didn't have the wires already there. That's B.S everything is there including the antenna. You just need to get the Navigation Unit/Dvd player and a splitter cable for fiber optic and power cable. Here is the link to the facebook group where I put in all the information. If you have any questions or need help I am here for you. It cost me like $200 to get the factory Nav working. facebook.com/groups/126898554036024/permalink/956235771102294/
I installed the Navigation as well as Satellite Radio. Scroll down in the facebook group to find the information. I was learning as I went so not the best write up. If you are serious I will send you part numbers if you can't find them. I got it all off ebay.
Hello. We have a 2008 q7 without navigation. Does the link to the board work with ours? Or do I have to find a different board? Definitely want to try your tutorial. Thank you man!
+iamsticky I am pretty sure it does. I didn't have Nav in mine until I installed it. But the button was there. I also have read they are back words compatible. I hope it all works out for you. Let me know if you have any questions.
+4 Realz I actually ordered a chip without navigation from a different link from China.... Followed all instructions and still it didn't work. No lights no nothing. I'm going to order the link you mentioned and give it one more shot. I actually tried cleaning the old chip and only thing that works now is he fm lights and volume button now works. :( I'll give it one more try with the link you gave us.
Hello. I have a question regarding which board to purchase. When I click on the link you shared it says 2015 boards& when I read the description it states only for 2010 q7. I have a 2007 q7. I have the navigation buttons however my car didn't come with navigation or Bluetooth. Is the board the correct one to order. Thanks
It should work. Others with 07's have confirmed in the comments it worked. What you are looking for is a "E380 Circuit Board" It doesn't matter if you have Navigation or not. I have a 09 that didn't have Navigation but I installed the factory Nav for a few hundred so now it does. Let me know if you need any help or have any question and please comment when you get your board and tell everyone how it went. It is a easy fix.
Howdy, we followed your video to the tee to remove the board and clean it. All went well except it didn't solve the problem. So now we need to order a new board. When we followed the link you posted, we found the board for $62, but it didn't say it worked with a 2007 Q7. Do you know if it will for sure or not. You rock for helping people on RUclips like this!
+Natalie Villalobos Hi Natalie , From what I see it should be the same. Does the board look the same as yours ? If it looks the same as yours , I would get it. I looked on multiple sites and it says from 2007-2010. Thanks for the nice words.
+4 Realz Yes, we just installed it a few days ago. The numbers on the board were a little different, but it works perfectly!! Thanks again for your video - you saved us a lot of money!
+Natalie Villalobos That is Awesome news. Glad it worked out and you saved some cash. Now others will know it also works on the later models. Thanks for getting replying.
Ive never done before in my life... but if yours isnt working... I would be happy to travel to your house anywhere in the US, pick it up, fix the nav board, and drive it back to your house for just $3000. Pfff. Awesome job man. What the hell is Audi thinking designing it that way (obviously people are having this problem) and then charging $6000 to fix it. Should be a recall.
Hello, thanks for the video. I don't have navi in my 2008 audi q7 will the same circuit board work or do i have to look for one that says without navi?
Awesome virgin video - you did a great job! I have a similar problem, however by board is fine it is the panel w/ buttons - any idea on where I can get that?
Received my full replacement module and referred back to your video - old one out, new one in in like 20 minutes - saved my $100's in labor costs. Thanks again!
Wonderful and very encouraging video. Thanks so much! I have the Audi 2007 Q7 with a faulty board (on-off is inop and some of the control illuminating lights are out. My Audi never had NAV installed, although the MMI switches are there for it. Should I buy the board you bought from China with NAV anyway? Also, How difficult and how expensive is it to to add the NAV dvd player and whatever else to get factory MMI NAV to function? Thanks, Bob
Yes this board will work and the nav is plug and play for the most part to install. Mine came without nav, but had the button. I installed the Nav and Sat Radio for a few hundred. It is all really easy to do. Message me if you need any help or have any questions.
Hello 4 Realz, I bought a brand new board and replaced it. I am still having trouble with my MMI. Does not change from the initial screen it was frozen at with my old board. Tried resetting, no change. After a while the MMI unit powers down by itself:(
+Jaspal Ahluwalia Did the original one have liquid damage or how did it stop working? Maybe the new board is defected/Faulty ? Not saying it is the case, But it does happen. Let me know and I will try and help you trouble shoot.
Yes they are the same, But for your peace of mind www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-VAG-OEM-Audi-Q7-07-15-Front-Console-Frame-4L0864260A-/142117447611?hash=item2116dc27bb I hope that helps. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
You Rock! What year was your Q7? I have a 2008 Q7 with the same problem. Wanted to make sure this worked in my car. Guess for $63, can't hurt to just order one...
+James B. Lim My Q7 is a 09 . If you open yours up and the board looks the same , I would go for it. Please comment and let me know and others know if it is the same. If you order and its not the same, You won't have a problem reselling it . Thanks for the comment and kind words.
Still having same issue bro, i bought a new mmi control switch, the only difference is the screen stay on for 1 minute and still cut right off instead of the 15 seconds before. What do i do now?
Bro! Your the best. Got the sooner than I thought. did it step by step and now my wife is back in business. Had to clean extra coffee crud out but it works like new. Thanks again
l have a 2006 Audi A6 my mmi console have the same problem buy when I rest the mmi the screen come on for a few sec and shuts off u think if I replace the mmi module if it will work? I need help thank u
okay I'll try that it's not getting any power in the fiber optics aren't showing any red light in the back at the Bose amp so once that shuts down it gives no power and my correct going to take out the board I was wondering if I take out the boards and not let the client leave with it will the car still run right without the board in it
Thanks so much for everything. The question now is how to put all the parts together and get it installed. Once I get the parts I will send you a message and we go from there if you don't mind. Thanks again
No problem. I am here if you need me. By the way, its a good chance that the navigation unit will have the map dvd in it, Mine did, but I downloaded the newest maps and burnt to a dvd and it works perfect.
Hi there, I order the board replacement, and change ash simple as you present here, but the MMI is still not working well, any idea, what other board I´ve to replace ...?
Hi mate, did you get any further with this one? I ordered two boards and tested both and I still have the same issue. Wondering if you could find other parts that might cause this issue? Help is much appreciated.
My guess is its the fiber optic cable then. Look through the comments and someone had to fix the fiber optic. I will look and try and give you the name.
Great video...thanks for posting this! You mentioned that you installed the NAV on your q7. Can you let me know how thats done or point me to anything that could help me out?
For sure I can help. I bought it with no Nav and put it in pretty much plug and play for a few hundred. The dealer said it could not be done and if so it cost $7000 Haha. I did a write up on a forum and FB Group. But if you need any help don't hesitate to contact me. facebook.com/groups/126898554036024/permalink/956235771102294/
Bill R You need these 2 cables, www.ebay.com/itm/Optical-fibre-Cable-Loom-LWL-Connection-CD-Audi-Media-Interface-AMI-MMI-/131792436292?hash=item1eaf70fc44:g:72kAAOSwymxVMMT9&vxp=mtr and u need the Nav Dvd Drive assuming your Q7 has the MMI 2G system. Part number 4EO-919-887M Here is a cheap one on Ebay. www.ebay.com/itm/2004-2005-2006-AUDI-A6-C6-NAVIGATION-DVD-ROM-4E0-919-887M-/131861684916?hash=item1eb391a2b4:g:-mkAAOSw6btXRR2Y&vxp=mtr And I bought a cheap antenna from China for $10 because I could only find the one factory antenna wire and I used it for my Satellite. So that would be $166 U.S for the parts and I bought the bracket from the dealer for $30. Mine came with the 2014 Maps, I burnt a copy of 2016 maps and new software. Thing works great. Very happy with it. Message me if you have any questions at all.
Thanks for getting back to me! I looked into it and I think I have MMI 3G Basic (it's a 2012). I may be out of luck. I'm reading that 3G is locked down by the dealers and I think I need to go through them for any changes....I'll need to look into this further and see
I am in Canada. Its so easy a child could fix it. Order the board and watch the video. Read the comments on how easy it is to fix. Any problems I will try my best to help.
4 realz, I jst fixed a new mmi console board on my Audi Q7. I made de order frm de site u provided everything is workin perfectly but I can't find de Bluetooth.
Glad it worked out for you. What do you mean, You can't find blue tooth ? If it worked before and doesn't now, I would check the harness plug, If not that then maybe a faulty board you just bought.
If you didnt have the blue tooth, I know there is a software update for the MMI to allow Blue Tooth. If you have not figured it out I will try and help.
Hi mate, the video was really helpful and i have ordered the control unit through ebay. Audi service centre quoted AUD 2250 to replace it yesterday, really happy that I googled it. Could you please share the link on how to activate and install sat nav on these boards?
4 Realz Hi mate, got my new board just then and installed it straight away. But am still having the same issue, mmi turns on for couple of seconds and then turned off. Any ideas?? Will be stuffed if the new board from ebay was also faulty :(
Returned the board and got a new one and still the same issue. When I turn on the ignition, the MMI screen turn on for couple of seconds and turn off automatically. If I press any buttons on the MMI console, the same happens. Now I can rule out that its caused by the board since I tried with three now. Any clues on other parts that might cause it. Hate it take it back to AUDI and them charging over 2K.
Thank you so much for posting this!!!! You have truly saved us a lot of money and relieved some stress! We changed the circuit board but now my back up camera does not work :/ I also think the version of this circuit board needs to be updated. Any idea how without going to the dealer? I have a 2008 sline Q7 but there is not many settings as before :( Please if anyone knows anything, please help or send me in the right direction!
4 Realz it looks the same. Here is what I purchased. I'm excited my buttons are working again and my screen isn't shutting off every minute but I really need that back up camera lol www.ebay.com/itm/162260337338
Larisa Mobley I think maybe a faulty board. 1st I would check all the connections and make sure they are clean and connected tight. does the cam work still with old board ?
Thanks for the comment, definitely sounds like the board. I am pretty sure it is the same board as in the link. Follow the video and look at your board. Try and clean it and if it doesn't work order this board if they look the same (almost positive they are the same).
Hi! Do you know is that board same in ´08 A6? At outside this MMI looks same and I think they haven´t make differences between A- and Q-series in electronics. And I´m sorry for my shitty english. Hopefully you undestand. :D
+Alpo Anttonen Yes they are the same :) and your english is really good , Please don't apologize . you should be proud you can speak more than one language. Thanks for the comment and good luck with the fix.
Thank you for that info! One button out of the game caused by coffee. Maybe should wait for more, but I´m going to check board first and maybe after that changing it. And big thanks for your video. I think those minutes have saved thousands of euros and dollars!!
4 real, my Audi Q7 2007 model mmi comes on nd goes off in few seconds also the red lights re not showing any longer, this started after taking it to de car wash.
Does it matter if my MMI (2007 Q7) has the push start/stop button? I haven't seen any mention of that on any of the video's or how to writeup's I have seen.
I remember in the comments a girl mentioning she had push start and it was the same board. The push start is separate I think, You can always just lift the panel and see . But as far as I know it is the same board. Good luck and please let everyone know how it goes.
You are correct, the push button start is another separate connector on a different board. Install worked just as the video shows and my MMI works great!
i just ordered the board. I too have the "push to start " option as well as NAV. Do I need to do anything different with my setup, or are you saying the push to start is a separate deal and not affected? I can start my car now using the push button , so im assuming I don't need to worry about that .
Bob Devito the push start is its own board so it's not affected by doing this. There are wires going to it so the only difference is an extra plug you have to deal with. Mine has been working flawlessly, so glad I tried it.
That is awesome news. I hope everyone see's this comment.
Thanks for taking the time to leave such a nice comment. I am glad it worked out for you and I could make it a little easier.
My man, you just saved my daughter thousands. I followed step by step, works like a charm. She thinks her dads a rock star. Thanks for helping us out. We owe you!
Awesome. Glad I could help. It feels great to save money and do it your self.
4 Realz!
I love comments like yours. Thanks for taking the time to comment and I am very happy you did it your self. Cheers Lori, glad I could help.
Hahahahahahha removing ex husband's name from phone list though
Thank you for taking the time to post this video. I followed it to the letter including the eBay link to buy the new board. $60 later and a few tooth picks and my Q7 MMI is back to normal. My favourite part of this fix is the tooth picks. The simple solutions are the best. Thanks again!
Awesome, Glad it worked out for you and thanks for the comment.
Awesome glad it worked out for you. Thanks for the tip.
Hey,
Thanks for the kind words, Tooth picks are the tool for this job.
I am glad I could help and it all worked out for you. Safe travels to you as well.
Dude you are a rock star - I followed the link - then did it step by step... - my wife loves me....we owe your bro...Dan NYC
Haha thanks man, anytime. Glad it helped.
+Griselda Figueroa I am happy I could help. Thanks for the comment and please let me know how the repair goes. You are very welcome.
Did you ever end up getting this fixed ?
Glad everything worked out for you. This is why I made this video. Thanks for the comment and glad I could help.
I just ordered my circuit board today from the link you gave hopefully it fixes my car I will keep you posted thank you!
It is a easy fix, anyone can do it. Just make sure you have the toothpicks on hand. Good luck to you and please let us know how it works out for you.
What's up man. I just want to let you know that I got my navigation system installed and running finally thanks to your help and your advices. Just like you said it was very easy once you have the right parts. Really appreciate it
No problem. Glad I could help and it all worked out for you.
Thanks, I appreciate your kind words.
I really like the idea of using toothpicks to pry off the delicate plastic bezel. Good work sir.
Thanks, I can't imagine a better thing for the job. Not sure what the dealer uses. Thanks for your comment.
You are welcome. I watched your video even though the MMI on my car still works. That's how good of an instructional video you created.
Hopefully it works for you. Let us know if it works.
I am Happy it worked out for you. Thanks for the comment.
Oh wow. Just did this in Johannesburg South Africa!... Waited a bit for the board but it worked!!! Thanks!!!
I never thought I'd be able to do this myself, but it's done and it works! Thanks so much. You're THE MAN!
Haha , Glad you attempted it. Now "you're the man" for fixing it,Good job and glad I could help.
This video is awesome, I paid the dealer $1200 last time. Replacement board was only $45 this time. Drinks on me
Glad the stealership didn't get you this time.
hello.from adelaide sa ,video was great help and helped me understand whats going on with my Q7 and has saved me 5000 dollars from my mechanic who is insisting its the amp,,thx heaps
+paul nikolettos Thanks for taking the time to comment. I am glad it helped.
Great job! Your instructions were clear and easy to follow. Really appreciate you taking the time and effort to save us over $1500.
+Brian Lane Thanks , I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

wow this video helped out a lot. thankyou so much man you are a life saver i was out in toronto got in my car realized the mmi was not working searched and found this amazing video. happy holidays god bless
Glad it helped. I am 1 hour from Toronto. Happy Holidays to you too.
4 Realz thanks brother. same im also an hour away i am in hamilton.
Thank you so much for this video
i was about to spend 3000$ on a new control unit
Thank you sooooooooo much
Glad I could help.
That is good information to know.
You Rock !!! Best part of the video when your wife sighed because of the broken clip. She was a trooper though. I fixed our '09 for the wifey too. You saved me $950 !!!!
+Uche Nsonwu Haha , Lucky the clip didn't seem to matter. Glad it helped and saved you some cash. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the tip.
omg thank you thank you God bless you cause i was going crazy with a 9 month old baby no music or cd you made it easy to fallow your instructions and i did it all by my self .. try cleaning it didnt work so i went to the second best thing purchase the mmi i keep u posted....
+Lourden Yessenia Rodriguez That's awesome. No music doesn't make the q7 very luxary lol. Glad it all worked out and happy you did it your self and saved a lot of money.
Thank you for the video. Made changing mine so easy. Toothpicks are the way to go!
Glad I could help, Yes Toothpicks are the way. Thanks for the comment.
Ok. I completely explained my problem incorrectly. All buttons work except for the large knob. I can press to select an option but I can't cycle thru the options when I turn the knob left or right. The buttons also do not light up. I took it all apart and cleaned the board but I'm still having the same issue. I ordered a new board. Fingers crossed that it works when I get it
Same exact problem I had. I replaced the board and all went well!
Thank you it is beneficial video. I have Q7 4.2 2008 and my Radio and CD is not working only . i hope it is programming problem and in case it is the board then i will buy it and change it my self. Thank you again
Just completed this fix. Thanks very much for posting thi video, it worked like a charm. You are in fact "4 Realz"
Glad I could help. Haha yes I am 4 Realz. Thanks for the comment.
Just finished and it works great. Thanks so much. This was a huge help!
+Robert Taylor Glad to have been able to help.
Glad I can help. www.ebay.com/itm/2015-new-for-Audi-Multimedia-Keys-E380-Circuit-Board-with-Navigation/131509560124?_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D33097%26meid%3D578364283bda47918e09f66ec0271b5e%26pid%3D100012%26rk%3D9%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D151669788363#shpCntId
good job.....got to clean spilled coffee.... the same situation. Thank u 4 ur efforts!
+alpy977 Thanks for taking the time to comment. Glad I could help.
My man!
Hi Realz - Excellent tutorial. I just ordered the board and surely would like your help if I ran into an issue. Thanks much!
Message me and I will try and help anyway I can. You got this.
Thanks!
Thanks this really helped me how to disconnect the circuit board. Didnt know u had to pull the knobs off first
Glad I could help
Should not be legal.
hy thank you for your video , my mmi from my audi Q7 have the same problem . is this product work for audi Q7 from 2009 ? thank you
Yes, Mine is a 2009 and it works for many years.
This video is great. I have the engine start and stop on my middle console too. Will this circuit board work?
Yes it will work.
Awesome thanks guys! I'll let you know in 5 days
Great video, thanks. Do you know if this board is the same for a right hand drive car? I am in South Africa and own a 2007 Audi Q7
I am not sure. It would depend if the button layout is the same. Is you Radio , Sat, Phone all on the right side ?
Be nice to let others know as well.
My one has Radio, Media, Name, and telephone on the right sidew from top to bottom and Nav, Info, Car Setup on the left side
Then yes it is the same board.
+Vince Wicker Thanks for the comment and kind words. I am glad it helped and everything went perfect.
+4 Realz ok, I'll check with the seller, the colors were the same.
I'm having the same issue. I bought a 2 new board and still having same issue. I was told that it could be the amplifier that causing the issues?
Hi. I heard you saying in this video you also installed a navigation system in the same audi q7. I am wondering if you can post a video about it. I have a 2009 q7 3.6 saying navigation is not installed .I would really appreciate it
It was real easy to install the Nav, Dealer said it couldn't be done
because it didn't have the wires already there. That's B.S everything is
there including the antenna. You just need to get the Navigation
Unit/Dvd player and a splitter cable for fiber optic and power cable.
Here is the link to the facebook group where I put in all the
information.
Did you ever get it fixed ?
What you are looking for is a "E380
Circuit Board" It doesn't matter if you have Navigation or not. I have a
09 that didn't have Navigation but I installed the factory Nav for a
few hundred so now it does. Let me know if you need any help or have any
question and please comment when you get your board and tell everyone
how it went. It is a easy fix.
+4 Realz thank you. Im going to order. I'll update you on my outcome.
+Natalie Villalobos Did you ever find out if it was the same fix for the 2007 Q7 ?
+4 Realz Yes, we just installed it a few days ago. The numbers on the board were a little different, but it works perfectly!! Thanks again for your video - you saved us a lot of money!
+Natalie Villalobos That is Awesome news. Glad it worked out and you saved some cash. Now others will know it also works on the later models. Thanks for getting replying.
I'm having the same problem and I'm planning to do this but do u think its also my amplifier since my speakers making a popping noisy?
Hard to say. Do all speakers pop ? Is it on cd and radio ?It is not hard to change the amp either.
Haha, Its crazy how much the stealership will take you for.
Fantastic video. Saved me thousands. Love the idea of the tooth picks
Thanks, I am glad it helped you. Yes the tooth picks worked perfect.
Hello, thanks for the video. I don't have navi in my 2008 audi q7 will the same circuit board work or do i have to look for one that says without navi?
Yes. same board works. Mine did not have nav, I put in in after. But the board is the same.
Awesome, Glad it helped.
Thanks,
Bob
Yes this board will work and the nav is plug and play for the most part to install. Mine came without nav, but had the button. I installed the
Nav and Sat Radio for a few hundred.
You're a legend! You saved us a lot of $. Thanks heaps!
LOL I don't know about "Legend" but I am glad I could help.
The light of my Audi A4 MMI is very dull, i can barely see anything there.. what do you think i should change in this case?? please answer
Sorry for the late reply. You probably sold the car by now haha.
Great, thanks! I have a 2007 Q7. Although it says it's for an A6, I'm assuming that the two vehicles are similar in interior trim, correct?
Hey, I'm having the same issue with mine. What state are you located. If you don't mind can you help?
I am in Canada, But I will help anyway I can. Order the new part and follow the video. Any questions, Just ask.
Still having same issue bro, i bought a new mmi control switch, the only difference is the screen stay on for 1 minute and still cut right off instead of the 15 seconds before. What do i do now?
Great video - thank, worked perfectly. I only had to clean the board of drink stains.
Awesome, Glad it worked for you, thanks for the comment.
Bro! Your the best. Got the sooner than I thought. did it step by step and now my wife is back in business. Had to clean extra coffee crud out but it works like new. Thanks again
That's the shit I like to hear. Glad it worked out for you.
l have a 2006 Audi A6 my mmi console have the same problem buy when I rest the mmi the screen come on for a few sec and shuts off u think if I replace the mmi module if it will work? I need help thank u
Yes, I think it will fix it. Mine did the same thing.
OK thanks when I replace it I will let u know thanks
okay I'll try that it's not getting any power in the fiber optics aren't showing any red light in the back at the Bose amp so once that shuts down it gives no power and my correct going to take out the board I was wondering if I take out the boards and not let the client leave with it will the car still run right without the board in it
I can't say for sure, But I don't think removing the board will cause any problems with the car running.
Good Job, I am replacing mine tomorrow.
Thanks, You will be surprised how easy it is. Let us know how it turns out.
PS: ALSO... one question! Our Audi has navigation, we purchased the vehicle with the nav system so, do we need a different type of board?
+Georgette F No , this board fits with or without.
Question did your heater/ac didnt work as well cuz of circuit board needed to b replaced
No, It did not affect my Heater or A/C at all.
Hi there, I order the board replacement, and change ash simple as you present here, but the MMI is still not working well, any idea, what other board I´ve to replace ...?
Some times people get a faulty board. Contact the seller and see if he will send another. What are the symptoms now with the board ?
Hi mate, did you get any further with this one? I ordered two boards and tested both and I still have the same issue. Wondering if you could find other parts that might cause this issue? Help is much appreciated.
My guess is its the fiber optic cable then. Look through the comments and someone had to fix the fiber optic. I will look and try and give you the name.
@Bob Devito He might be able to help you. If you still are lost, let me know and I will do some research.
DUUUUDE YOU ARE AMAZING
No Problem brother, Glad it worked out for you.
Hope after fixin the board hope the red led on the buttons will come up.
+Edward Taylor It should. The board has all the LED lights. Mine didn't work either until I replaced the board.
Great Video! 👍 btw what is the part number? i have the same q7 model with u..
Just look for E380 Circuit Board. It doesn't matter with nav or not. Let me know if you have any other questions. Have a blessed day.
4 Realz Thanks! ive order mine.. Hope it works..
I'm reading that 3G is locked down by the dealers and I think I need to go through them for any changes....I'll need to look into this further and see
Thank you so much for this video !! i was about to spend £700 on a new control unit !! i
No problem, Glad you liked it.
Do I really need a part# for this or can I just order it with year and model of my Q7
Depends where you get it. The dealer charges a stupid amount. What year and what MMI do you have ?
wow im havingthe same problem with my audi i spilled water in it also, where are you locted i will pay you to fix mine im in baltimore?
Brother you did a great job!!!! Thumbs up to you!
Thanks, Hope it helped you.
Thank you for this video. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you! Helped me tremendously!
Awesome, Glad I could help. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well.
Hi mate, the video was really helpful and i have ordered the control unit through ebay. Audi service centre quoted AUD 2250 to replace it yesterday, really happy that I googled it.
Could you please share the link on how to activate and install sat nav on these boards?
Glad it helped and you saved some cash. Here is the write up I did on the sat and nav. facebook.com/groups/126898554036024/permalink/956235771102294/
4 Realz Hi mate, got my new board just then and installed it straight away. But am still having the same issue, mmi turns on for couple of seconds and then turned off. Any ideas?? Will be stuffed if the new board from ebay was also faulty :(
Every now and then people get faulty boards. Return it and try another one.
Awesome video helped me alot made it so easy 👌🏼
Thank you so much for posting this!!!! You have truly saved us a lot of money and relieved some stress!
We changed the circuit board but now my back up camera does not work :/
I also think the version of this circuit board needs to be updated. Any idea how without going to the dealer? I have a 2008 sline Q7 but there is not many settings as before :(
Please if anyone knows anything, please help or send me in the right direction!
I would think its the same board. Is it possible the new board is faulty ? Does it look the same as your old board ?
4 Realz it looks the same.
Here is what I purchased. I'm excited my buttons are working again and my screen isn't shutting off every minute but I really need that back up camera lol
www.ebay.com/itm/162260337338
Larisa Mobley I think maybe a faulty board. 1st I would check all the connections and make sure they are clean and connected tight. does the cam work still with old board ?
4 Realz it all stopped working at the same time. Mmi buttons and camera.
This is what the version says
It actually won't let me post the attachment. Is there a email where I could send to you?
Hey great video. I'm working on a 08 A6. The MMI Turns then right off. What could it be.
Thanks for the comment, definitely sounds like the board. I am pretty sure it is the same board as in the link. Follow the video and look at your board. Try and clean it and if it doesn't work order this board if they look the same (almost positive they are the same).
did you post how to add the satnav in a video? Thanks!!
No, I did a write up in a facebook group though. I can send link if you want.
I think those minutes have saved thousands of euros and dollars!!
thanks buddy this was an awesome video you helped me fix my car and save me a lot of money champion
You are very welcome. I am glad it helped. Thanks for the nice comment.
4 real, my Audi Q7 2007 model mmi comes on nd goes off in few seconds also the red lights re not showing any longer, this started after taking it to de car wash.
+Edward Taylor it should help, the board has a bunch of led bulbs and it soulds like a faulty board. Its a cheap fix, let us know how it works out.
Awesome, glad to hear it all worked out for you.
i just ordered the board.
