  • In this video I am going to show you how I made my own Squonk Mod for my Electric Cigarette using a 3D Printer and a Laser Cutter. If you do not have access to those tools, but still want to make your own mod, you can get it printed at a website called shapeways.
    For more detailed information about all the parts I used on this mod, where to source them etc. visit my website to get free build plans for this mod:

    Nice work there, it's a bit complicated work for a squonk mod but it turned out nicely. I did a simple squonk mod of my own design too but use i.materialise for alumide print and machined acrylic door from a local shop. All parts like 510 and silver contacts are bought from moddog. I still use it everyday after over a year now. It's a hard hitting mod without paying $250 for one ;)

      Haha Thank you :D
      Maybe you can make your own version? You can get the frame printed at shapeways and for the wooden panels you do not need a laser, you can use a simple coping saw to cut it out. All the files, parts and information can be found by visiting the link in the video description :)

    Stumbled on this while looking for inspiration for the Squonk I'm designing for my friend, lemme just say this looks sick.
    Using a Evolv DNA for mine, and all the buttons I've seen people use look kinda junkie. Having made yours, how would you say the button feels when firing?

    Nice work. I have my own printer and have been thinking of designing my own squonk mod. Im curious, what are your Slicer settings looking like? Id appreciate it if you can point me in the right general settings. I hate to be wasteful and print 2-4 mods before finding the right settings.

    • @Modern-Crafts
      @Modern-Crafts  4 года назад +2

      Thank you! And sorry for the late response.
      I've printed the mod in PETG or ASA. Some of the settings:
      layer height 0,15mm
      4 perimeters
      25% infill
      for support I think it was 15% and 30% for the last few support layers
      I sometimes had problems with warping. Only a small part of the frame actually touches the build plate and therefore a really good bed adhesion is required. I used hairspray to improve the adhesion on the first layer. A brim or raft might help as well.

    How much does it cost to build sum thing like this all materials included?

    • @Modern-Crafts
      @Modern-Crafts  Год назад

      This completely depends on which exact parts and materials you use, where you buy them and what tools you already have.

    Thanks for sharing. With what type of filament would I be able to print it?
    Thank you

    • @Modern-Crafts
      @Modern-Crafts  6 лет назад +1

      I would recommend using something like ABS, PETG, ASA or similar filaments which can withstand some heat. PLA would probably get soft near the 510 connector.

    how you attach a fire button plate? glue or something?

    • @Modern-Crafts
      @Modern-Crafts  4 года назад

      You don't need to glue the copper plate. There is an L-shaped slot in the 3d model and you just place it in there. It holds firmly without any glue.

    Hello. What kind of plastic printed body? ABS, Pet-G, PLA, Nylon?

    • @Modern-Crafts
      @Modern-Crafts  5 лет назад

      Hi, I used PETG for this mod. ABS or any filament with a higher temperature resistance should work as well. I would not recommend to use PLA since the 510 connector can get quite warm and PLA might soften and deform.

    • @v1svaldis
      @v1svaldis 5 лет назад

      @@Modern-Crafts Thanks for the answer. I plan to use ceramic plastic. ABS also keeps the temperature up to 100 °, Pet-g up to 80 °.

    • @v1svaldis
      @v1svaldis 5 лет назад +1

      @@Modern-Crafts There is one PLA that holds up to 108 ° degrees, and I also plan to try it. Will it be interesting to you?

    • @Modern-Crafts
      @Modern-Crafts  5 лет назад +1

      @@v1svaldis Sure, it is always nice to get some feedback from people who actually built this mod. Especially when they made their own changes or used more exotic materials.

    what tool did you use to make the dimple??

    • @Modern-Crafts
      @Modern-Crafts  5 лет назад

      I used riveting pliers for the dimple. But you could probably just use a steel rod or a M4 screw and a hammer do get the job done.

    Not everyone has that great of equipment feel free to make me one identical to that with NitPickyVapersReviews etched into the now squonk side and hit me up with the price to do it

    • @Modern-Crafts
      @Modern-Crafts  5 лет назад +2

      Actually you do not even need all this equipment. You can use a service like shapeways to get the frame printed. Free build plans and the links to the items are available on my website (link is in the description).
      For the front and back panel you could either print them out as well or use a coping saw to cut them out wood or acrylic.
      So far I do not sell any mods.
