    I want us to go there with confidence and not arrogance. We should tell ourselves that we are scared of Real yes because they have won 14 UEFA champions league but we did beat them and all streaks come to an end.
    Let's go I pray we win let's not be scared blues come on City let's play like we did last season and we will be alright.

      I'm even OK with 2:1 loss in Madrid. We can still recover that difference at home. The guy is right. Real Madrid are well rested and better prepared for this leg. I think that Guardiola will be wise to stick to a defense minded mode and rely on long passes and counters with Halland. Two holding mid-fielders with Kovacic and Rodri playing together since the spaniard is a bit exhausted by playing too often.

    He is right that RMA will definitely be fresh, well rested and physically ready better. Therefore, I would say that our defense and the mid-field is more crucial for this fixture. We should not concede goals that easily ( like with CP, Villa, etc). It is still OK that we concede two and score one with RMA in Madrid.

    Total rubbish if we play three at the back. Stones and Diaz have rarely played together this season but they are our best centre back combination. They will kill us on the flanks if we play three. Stones should mainly be centre back. Pep won't do it but he should play Foden and KDB ahead of Rhodri with Grealish and Bernardo either side of Haaland. Foden might not even play !

    Akanji playing left gives us more balance on that side as we saw V Palace, or Pep might even give Gomez a run out ( I think his early problems were just settling in jitters ), It`s the right hand side we need to handle and Rico playing further back and supporting a static Stones in a defensive set up for the away leg. I still think we have enough to nip a win ;0)

  • @MCFCTheMadHatter

    This will be an unpopular opinion, but we are not the same City team from last season (we are objectively weaker) and RM is not the same RM from last season (they are objectively better). So we need to adjust our expectations and analysis accordingly, which few fans want to accept. This notion that I keep hearing (not you Johnny) is that because we did so well against RM last season, there is no reason why we can't do the same this season. That is a objectively a logical fallacy and simply not true. Let me explain...
    Our biggest issue is our defense and that seems to be a function of how Pep sets up our team, which is clearly different than last season with the biggest difference being effectively playing with wingbacks which leaves up wide open down the flanks (Palace got a lot of joy from that) and box midfield with attacking minded players who consistently leave Rodri on his own to cover the whole midfield if he is not already going forward. Those differences alone, I would argue, have been responsible for the vast majority of our defensive deficiencies this season.
    Over the season, it hasn't matter which team we have played, we have given up chances and corresponding goals: from Luton to Palace to LFC to MU (Arsenal being the only exception as that deflected goals wasn't due to a major defensive breakdown based on how we were set up). If we play like we did against AV or Palace and concede those chances at RM, they will put away the majority of the chances CP and AV missed; if we give RM ANY of the chances we have given away to PL teams this season, it is more than likely they will score if given those same opps.
    I am very nervous about tomorrow because when we think about last season at RM, we had an outstanding defense and still, we conceded. This year, given how Pep sets up, our defense is much worse having conceded more goals and more chances to the opposition this season vs last season. What does this mean for our team tomorrow? IMHO, it means that regardless of how Pep sets up (unless he goes super conservative which we have not seen this season so far and the fact that Walker is out and Vini will be playing), I don't see how we can come away with a clean sheet.
    So if we accept that RM will score (as they most likely will barring a miracle), then the game will come down to our side outscoring RM for the win OR keepi0ng up with them for the draw. But this season we have suffered severely from being able to put away our chances plus RM have a much better defense this season compared to last season, which when put together, does not bode well for us. For me, we have to play like we did against Arsenal 2 weeks ago defensively, but we have to play offensively like we did v AV and CP to get the draw or the win. Question is, do we have any evidence to suggest that Pep will set our team up to play like that AND will the players be able to execute it even if he does? I am hopeful, but not very confident that we can. I pray my analysis is completely incorrect

    • @HananiNleya-dn1fe
      @HananiNleya-dn1fe 2 месяца назад

      Gud analysis. I think Pep will naturally go for caution. Infact he does that when faced w tough opponents. Actually he did in the first/away leg to RM last year.

    • @MCFCTheMadHatter
      @MCFCTheMadHatter 2 месяца назад

      @@HananiNleya-dn1fe I hope so. But again, even when we are cautious, we concede easy chances as seen in the Arsenal game. Had it not been for Jesus' poor attacking IQ, they likely would have scored. If RM get the same chance, I doubt they miss. That is my concern - i don't have confidence with our defense as I have a full season of evidence to support my concern. Again, i hope i am dead wrong

    • @HananiNleya-dn1fe
      @HananiNleya-dn1fe 2 месяца назад

      @@MCFCTheMadHatter u'r dead right actually which is why caution of a higher level is required, such as we put up in the semi against RM in both legs and the final as well. But yes we are not at the same level form wise even squard wise. My best bet under the circumstances is coincidentally as according to Jonny, a scoring draw of at least 2goals. We can't be entirely defensive, but keep the ball and attack as much. Better field our most offensive option. Either side may win 3 - 2 if it does'nt end in a draw.

    • @MCFCTheMadHatter
      @MCFCTheMadHatter 2 месяца назад

      @@HananiNleya-dn1fe Def fair analysis. If we can somehow increase our offensive prowess while giving up little defensive solidity (which is not great to begin with), I think that could work. BUT it would be predicated upon our defense and offense being completely focussed for the entire game - defending perfectly when ball is out of possession and being very clinical with the ball - meaning fast transitions to leverage Haaland's skills with high probability thru balls to him, balls over the top and general increase in speed and intensity when moving forward all without turning over the ball easily. If we can do that (which is effectively footballing perfection) there is a lot we can accomplish.

      Respect for being humble but You are worrying too much, me as a madrid fan have been watching city recently and they are insanely good!! Madrid have been hyped up too much, we are not as great as you think, and city might have dropped a bit of form if we compare them to last season but you guys are still insane and you have Pep as a cherry on top of that!! And you guys are indeed playing the 2nd leg at your Fortress where Madrid have never beat city. Even prime 2012 and 2016 Madrid failed to win at the Etihad so I think you guys will easily go thru!!

      I dont know what games your watching, statistically better than saliba and akanji and has improved creatively, Dias has been great recently and bar a small mistake against palace he was an absolute wall

    Pep and City are not afraid of Real Madrid - they are more concerned if the UEFA referee will be fair in their call of the match.
