    I started learning to play the drums in 1966. At that time of course there were no RUclips tutorials (lucky kids today !) and I mostly learned by playing along to 45 rpm records.
    Two of my favourite songs to play along with were Heart Full of Soul and Shapes of Things by The Yardbirds. Jim McCarty was a terrific drummer who had rock-solid time and his drumming often featured unusual rhythms and fills. Shapes of Things in particular was off the beaten track and it remains a favourite to this day (in fact I still have the single !). Great job with this channel Doug, very enjoyable !

      @@robertfontaine356 Thanks for the comments Robert, glad you are enjoying the channel. Yes, things were a lot different before RUclips. I agree, McCarty was a solid drummer. His unique style added to the overall uniqueness of the band.
