    New Sub. Just got the Slash 4x4 Ultimate and I love it. It comes with everything except the Battery and charger.

      I am very late to this video. But I just got a slash 4x4 ultimate as well, and it is amazing🤩 I plan on upgrading it a lot🗿👍

    Mine is setup for, street/strip and loose track. The best upgrade I could do past the point of all the ones you named ( fans,metal knuckles, axle carriers and so on) was wheel extension’s the thing can now slide sideways on the street going about 50-60mph (80kmh) without ever flipping. It’s crazy what those wheel extension’s did for handling too I don’t get that high speed wobble nearly as much as I did stock. Also it’s not an upgrade but it’s a vary overlooked maintenance thing but the bearings should always be inspected per set of tires.

    I actually added sidewalls and lights to weigh it down.

    Can you recommend the best rear hubs, steering hubs, and caster block the traxxas are expensive but if they are worth it ill get em

    • @joshsrcs
      @joshsrcs  3 года назад +1

      RPM makes EXTREMELY TOUGH rear hubs and they have been amazing! Get them and make sure they are for the Slash 4x4 because there are some ones for the 2wd slash that look very similar. Get 2 packs just in case they break you never want to be condemned to the workbench. Traxxas aluminum front hubs and caster blocks are best👍

    your center driveshaft may be slipping and or stripping by the sounds of it... if it was me, I’d upgrade your center driveshaft to this... Tekno RC Big Bone Center Driveshaft and Outdrive Kit (TKR6855).. it’s basically a long CV bone shaft that’s a solid piece axle with pins on each end, versus the stock Traxxas one being hollowed out and keyed... I’ve heard great reliability from them and very rare instances of failure with them... love your slash 4x4 and I plan on getting one someday along with choice upgrades (arms, axles, all aluminum shocks with thicker shafts, savox servo, spare tires, spare body maybe a proline bashed armor, king headz motor mount and bearing adaptor, and ditch the stock motor system for something better say castle creations or step up to a tekin)...
    By the way here’s one link where the Tekno big bone shaft kit is and also Tekno Rc makes a CVD kit for Traxxas slash 4x4 (but the front hub carriers may be weak idk)....

      Josh’s RC’s I see... I have heard the stock ones do strip but more likely get bent easy and worse, split open... how’s your slash 4x4 treating you now? You’ve any updates on parts to use?

    • @joshsrcs
      @joshsrcs  4 года назад

      Well I’ve gotten rid of the rear metal hubs because they killed bearings all the time and replaced them with RPM rear hubs and they are great so far. In my most recent video I reviewed some Duratrax Picket ST tires on my slash and sneak peak they were absolute junk. Maybe go watch it and see what you think 👍

      @@joshsrcs it’s definitely a very SOLID upgrade.. going from a hollowed out keyed driveshaft (stock) to a design more like a dog bone (downside I hear is a few times the “ears”/pins on the bone shaft may slip or slide out.. idk if it is a fluke thing or not.. maybe apply a bit of thread locker on the bone ears just in case....).. also another downside in a way is you may have to grind the chassis to make room for the driveshaft to go thru the holes and also the clear protection shield over the shaft may have to be left off (as the Tekno shaft is not only larger than the stocker but also it is different on its ends (using cups to key in).. hope it all helps

    I’ve had mine for 4 years and the center drive shaft is extremely weak and I think that one of the most important upgrades is the drive shaft because it’s hollow

      Josh’s RC’s I ran into a car and that did my axle in and I do a lot of full throttle driving (edit: a real car at full speed)

    • @qw0wp2

      The center drive shaft is a common weak point I use a tekno big bone solid drive shaft. I believe hot racing also makes a similar one.

    What do you think is the best motor fan? Also are fans good for bashing or will they break right away? Also what are the best do you think are the best driveshafts for it?

    • @joshsrcs
      @joshsrcs  3 года назад

      Protek or PowerHobby look good and they aren’t super expensive, but I’d say the best is a “turbofan” style one. They are a little more expensive but they cool the motor down like crazy.

    • @joshsrcs
      @joshsrcs  3 года назад

      Best axles are anything MIP (dog bone or half-shaft) and best driveshaft is the Tekno RC one

    • @joshsrcs
      @joshsrcs  4 года назад +2

      Do you mean Shock Shafts. If so that wasn’t much of a Problem for me. They have bent a bit but they are Easy to Bend Back. I do have Titanium Shafts Ready to put in when I want to but the Stock ones have Taken a Beating so I have never needed to Upgrade. 👌👌👌

      You can get upgraded shock shafts that won't bend easily like stock. It's the second recommended stock shock upgrade after the aluminium caps.
      I personally went with a set of GTR shocks with losi tuning springs, although proline and other options exist. Of course that's going to cost you a bit more.

    Regarding your rear hub carriers I'm not sure what brand you have I bought STRC ones that from memory are half the price of Traxxas. They have a grub screw that will lock that pin into place.

    • @joshsrcs
      @joshsrcs  4 года назад

      I believe they they are some Integy ones. I need to get something else because all they do is kill the bearings inside of them

    • @qw0wp2
      @qw0wp2 4 года назад +1

      @@joshsrcs in general I would stay away from just about everything made by integy. All their aluminum parts are cast aluminium far as I know where is strc, hot racing, king motor headz, etc are usually machined and out of much higher grade aluminium. I hadn't really thought about the grub screws in the STRC rear carriers untill seeing what happened to your car. I believe the set is about 20 bucks and I've never had problems with them damaging the bearings. I believe they are made with 0. toe in and 0.5 which is what I have... They should be about $20 I think possibly less if you shop around. Or you can always go with the official Traxxas ones which I'm sure are fine.
      Anyhow best of luck!
