How are you finding the mellow concave leo? I've been riding this deck for a couple weeks now and the concave hasn't flattened out too much more. I love this shape.
Super helpful review. I'm on the fence with this deck because of how quickly the plies wore down. Although the shallow nose and tail would be super helpful to me. I have to head to my local shop to see the deck in person.
Glad it was helpful. the tail wear was really annoying, but the board shape is also amazing. So it's kind of a toss up, nothing ever has full stats haha.
Hey, Outright, I'm new to skating and my cousin gave me his old Classic Black and Blue Baker board and I want to get a new Baker board because I don't want to snap it since they don't make the decks anymore. I was wondering if the Mellow Concave shape is reminiscent of the old Baker board shape or if I should just stick with just a regualr OG Shape board with regular concave as opposed to an OG Shape with the Mellow Concave. I loved the video and I'm shocked you have so little subscribers, definitely added to that count.
Thank you so much Sush1man. That's tough because I haven't skated baker a lot so I can't give you a solid answer on that. But I'd recommend going for the regular concave. The mellow was wicked, but it flattens out ALOT! ends up like a 2x4 ha! So mellow is great if your gonna replace your deck every 1-4 weeks, but if your skating longer than that you'll get more life out of the regular concave.
@@JossPretty Thanks, I'll take your word for it when I buy another one of these. As of right now, too hood yet so the mellow is fine but when I get better I'll definitely buy moure concave. Thanks for getting back to me
no problem mate. sorry I was so slow getting back to you. it's annoying deck s are so expensive eh, there's so many shapes and sizes to try. the $$$ adds up too fast haha
I ride 8 inch as well but one point in my life rode steep never thought of steep or mellow just skated mellow mostly till i wanted to try steep never went back to mellow
@@joseskates3189 That's amazing! If by first real board, you mean you were skating like a walmart board or something, then you WILL not be dissapointed. You'll have tons of pop
I was skating a really old board some brand it sucked and I really been wanting a new board and I watched your vid and I was like let me give it a shot
i’m looking for a board that won’t break if i try and do anything more that ride it, for context i’m 330lbs and i’m pretty worried about that whole situation. if anyone has any suggestions i’d love your advice, i’m looking at getting into skating so i don’t really know a whole ton
That's awesome Jerald! For sure, getting into skating can be very confusing. There's so many boards/trucks/wheels/etc, it's overwhelming. I am 220lb, so i'm on the heavier spectrum of skaters, and although I haven't skated evey brand out there, i find that deathwish, krooked, and baker decks are very strong. I'd recommend staying away from real - low pro and heroin decks. I've snapped a ton of these with minimal effort. And whilst your learning, try to keep your feet on the bolts as much as possible. Once you get into it you'll be shredding those LBs and won't have to worry so much
@@JossPretty that’s pretty heavy especially for a skateboarder but it makes no sense to say Krooked are good for you and real are not cause they are the exact same thing. Deluxe distribution made by BBS Woodshop in Mexico. They have the same shapes, same concaves just different graphics. Anti Hero belongs to them too and have also the same shapes. Baker and Deathwish are made by BBS as well but they have different shapes and concaves than the Deluxe boards.
@@ayjay359 your right! krooked and real are the same board. But real also offer different construction styles, like the R1, Full, and Low Pro. what I was saying is don’t go for the real -low pro, which has 1 thinner ply to give the board a lower profile. I snapped it within 1 hour of skating it haha. I really like the R1 construction from real, I find it to be the strongest. Do you know if krooked boards follow the R1 construction or if they’re just a standard deck?
@@JossPretty Ok, now I feel like I am from the moon. Never heard of low pro decks. I don’t think they make them anymore and I have never seen such a thing. ( 20 years experience, I am not a kid who’s into skateboarding since 1 year ) I am not sure about the R1 construction on Krooked. While the 3 boards I had from Real, Krooked and Anti Hero were really the same. Couldn’t tell the difference from a R1 Real. I didn’t want to tell you „Real are the same good as…“ I think it’s just good when you know where your boards are from cause often they just put a graphic on and sell it as a brand while they actually just buy from a woodshop catalog. And many don’t know that. I can understand if you don’t want to buy one after your experience.
Great question!!! the nose is at the B end, which is weird because, on the Baker website, the B is at the bottom.... when in reality the B should be at the top.
I've never ridden a cruz board so i can't say there. but for the baker, the tail can feel a little short sometimes, especially after riding the nose for a bit. but it does have great snap and i have no problem getting all the pop i need out of it.
i just set up my first baker very pleased with it so far the pop is holding up very well and usually i get razor tail fast

Outright Skateboarding i can skate most concave and get used to it fast, but it feels like i have a little more pop
Underrated as hell, amazing video and amazing skill, keep it up!

I just got this deck same size but black color. I’m stoked it was discounted to 24 bucks at my local shop
$24! damn that's a great price! get your shred on!
24 for any deck is a super good price!
Great review man! I've been riding baker since july and it still has a lot of pop in it. Keep going!
Thanks Nikhilesh! yeah these baker boards are great!
Been skating chocolate/girl boards because I like the mellow concave. I’ll have to give a Baker a shot.
How did it go ?

I appreciate that, maybe one day haha.
i think you are super underrated and rlly good, i’m getting one of these so thanks for the review
Awesome! thanks for your kind words. Enjoy the deck!
hang your shoe lower then the tail to do tail stops. so your not dragging the wood on the ground just your shoe.

Try Power Peralta Flight decks or Santa Cruz VXs. I recommend Independent Trucks, Bones Redz bearings, and Bones or Spitfire wheels.

where can I boy that?
Most local skateshops will have baker boards in stock.
Where did you get it?
I bought it from The Local Skateshop in Hamilton Ontario.
Wheels?
I believe these were spitfire formula 4's 99du 93mm.
Did the concave get mellower?
Yes it did! It definitely ended up very flat, more than a deck with steep concave.
Your good sub uwu
Thanks spenceco!
What trucks did you pair the deck with?
Pause at 5:06, they're Thunder
