Just saw John open for Jason Isbell in Wichita. I cried through the last 3 songs of his set, starting with Break My Heart Sweetly. Powerful writer, and lays it out straight and simple. I love Isbell, but Moreland took the shine right off that boy.
I want to thank you for how your songs help me deal with breaking up with my girlfriend, reconnecting with my son and being the soundtrack to getting my life back together. Thank you, I can never give back what you give me. I also hope I will see you live someday.
I'm from Oklahoma, although I've since moved away to Seattle, but it is awesome to hear artists like John Moreland, John Fullbright, and Turnpike Troubadours coming out of my home state. It just sounds like home with all of the up and downs that come with calling OK home.
Did John loose his faith or what? It seems he writes a lot about religion and possibly moving away from it? I wish John would write something really raw on how bad life sucks. I kind of want something that's going to make me cry and wish I was dead :)
John Moreland makes me cry ugly tears. One of my favorite singer songwriters. Go see his shows if you can. Brilliant, just brilliant.
