The trade for Justice was one of Cashman’s best moves as GM. Just imagine, the Yankees acquired him on June 29 and he hit 20 HR and drove in 60 RBI. And had quite an unforgettable post season.
100% agree. Bernie was my favorite player during this period. He was an amazing center fielder and consistent at the plate. Unfortunately the HOF does not measure clutch or else he and many more like him that did not have stellar stats would be there
I watched this game at 10 years old third base side and all I remember is everybody going insane after Bernie hit his. Even a small justice was up to the plate nobody had sat back down we were just all going nuts for Bernie . Than justice just bangs out that first pitch and a wave of emotion that hit the stadium was insanity. We never calmed down over Bernie and this guy hits a walk off right after . I'll never forget it . It had World Series levels of hype.
Love the way Bernie and Justice just round the bases, no rah-rah look at me attitude, no bat flips. It's almost like "Hey, this is our job, we're paid to do this."

@@generatorx There is nothing wrong with celebrating a victory or a home run or a great play in the field or a strike out or any of that. There is nothing wrong with bat flips after a homer or a pitcher beating their chest or pumping their fist after a strike out. @@patrickbooth5091 Its emotions that need to be kept under control. I'm alright for celebrating in your clubhouse or dugout. While retaliation as such should not be done, it does indicate that something is wrong.
I lost in MLB the Show in the same way except. It was in the bottom of the 8th and I gave up back to back to back home runs on 3 pitches in a ALDS Game 5. I was winning 2-0.
I was there too....if u look carefully behind the plate before Bernie's hr....i was the guy sitting in the first row!!! I had gotten into an argument with my wife that day....left to cool off...and ended up at yankee stadium!! Lol....i was still celebrating Bernie's hr and had my back turned when justice won it on the next pitch!!!
They are the last seats to get sold. I don't know how it works now with online purchasing, but back then you didn't have an option to buy them if closer seats were available.
I don't know for this game exactly. but I do remember something along the lines of, if they didn't sell enough seats or something, they'd shift everyone down to the infield seats (still upper deck) and close those off. You used to see people sprinting from out of no where to get the home run balls hit up there.
So if Bernie tied the game at 3 and Justice was the next batter won the game with a HR then how would the score be 5-3 like it says in the description?
The 2000 Yankees were as loaded as the 1998 and 1998 clubs and could have easily won 95+ except for Torre's horrible managing in September. You don't pull your starters after four innings every night until *after* you clinch the division.
Awesome cup catch by the Bleacher Creature! And Jeter gets an elbow to the eye from Justice as he jumps on home plate and tries to keep celebrating! Lol!
Was it the steroids, bullpen phone, light in scoreboard, or the three cams in the outfield?? Stankees are a blight. Mlb you do them and the game no justice by giving them cover!
My dad just passed away. Being at this game together is one of my favorite memories of us together

And all they gave up was a struggling Ricky Ledee. Major trade win
*Two batters faced, two pitches, two home runs, zero outs recorded. That's a Double Infinity ERA.*
They had a lethal lineup and a lethal bench to go along with it. They were a great team and these were great times!!!
Damn shame Bernie Williams is not in the Hall of Fame yet long overdue this man was the Yankees
Very true statement. Bernie did everything right and enjoyed watching him play.
@@bbjfam8248 me too I'm a lifelong Dodger fan but when I first saw Bernie play I was a fan he did everything right and was a class act
Bernie is not a hall of Famer not even close . He was very good but the hall used to be for the immortals sadly not anymore
Bernie was clutch.

I was 3rd base side too! Do you remember me?!
@@richardl4420 lmao 🤣
I was there too. My 23rd birthday present. 2nd level in RF
Lol another one checking in from 3rd base side. Amazing game and an amazing memory from my childhood.
Went to this game when I was 7 years old. Awesome to find it on youtube
Ha! I was on the 3rd base line for this game. Was 13 at the time. Still my favorite memory at a sporting event.
I can't believe that game was almost 20 years ago. It seemed like yesterday that I was watching it.
I truly feel like the goal is to live life like you’re trying to find your metaphorical moment to catch a walk off homer in your beer cup

Just today, the Yankees did this against the A's. Brett Gardner tied it with a bomb to right, Mike Ford won it with a homer to right-center.
Deja Vu all over again!

i was at that qame...awesome scene!!!
That pitcher was very efficient.
Brett Gardner and Mike Ford
Good O’l Yankees
0:21 I dont think many really appreciate how good the Yankees really were during the late 90's/early'00s. I think this face says it all.
I was in the Right Field Bleachers, Section 37, Row GG, Seat 1.
Amazing Back-To-Back Home Runs to Win the Game for the New York Yankees Against Oakland A's in 2000.
I was at this game, it was nuts. Barely had a chance to catch our breath after Bernie when Justice hit the next pitch out. Two pitches, game over.
I miss those days!
2 pitches. 2 bombs. Game over
great catch with the cup
MLB make this game available for purchase DVD etc
With the radio call included it’s been 23 years
Bernie’s swing is silky smooth
I love Ken Singleton
Tony Anello me to love him
Same, and tho it's not the most popular opinion I do miss Jim Kaat
I was there! First row behind the yankee dugout! And yes, the guy caught it in his beer cup!

lol I was 13 years old and sitting on the 3rd base line. I still remember how crazy the energy was.
Great memories!
Justice can truly see that pitch.
This house used to rock so hard.
That was the best cup catch I've probably ever seen
I'm amazed Oakland didn't have a left-handed reliever to face both Bernie and David, with the game on the line
How is it August 2000, Yanks are going for a 3-peat and the Stadium isn't sold out. Upper deck totally empty!! And I'm a Yankee Fan!!
Beast of the east.
People constantly badmouth Cashman but he just flecces teams over and over. The Justice trade was one.
I would like to take a moment and appreciate the catch that fan made with his cup l.mao😂
I miss Jim Kaat and Ken Singleton and even Bobby Mercer
My question is why was the third deck empty at that time?

It wasn't until the arrival of A-Rod, that the Stadium started to sell out almost every game. Year after year.
Remember when the Yankees used to win games like this all the time? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
I was there. As a kid
*4-3.
AwesomeLorenzoBros Right? I was trying to figure out the description. Thought I was crazy for a minute...
I was gonna say if back to back to tie and win in the 9th, how would they win by 2? 😂
So if Bernie tied the game at 3 and Justice was the next batter won the game with a HR then how would the score be 5-3 like it says in the description?
it's a typo
it's a mistake.
Math is so difficult lol.
no one ever said counting is easy

Out of the box as soon as they swing....remember that.
Yup I was there
Is that Jose Conseco at 0:18??
Yes. I was at the game. His first as a Yankee. He pinch hit but I think he struck out or grounded out.
jason isringhausen vs David Justice is a Met vs a Brave. Of course that would be the outcome lol
Jason Isn'tringhausen...
Looks like Justice accidentally popped Jeter at home.
Cool
Who is the play by play announcer with Singleton?
The better play was the cup catch
Those damn Yankees, every single one of them has a highlight 😂🙄
yes. but. TLC burnt Dave's house down
It is impossible to win a game 5-3 on back to back home runs in the bottom of the ninth!
Awesome cup catch by the Bleacher Creature! And Jeter gets an elbow to the eye from Justice as he jumps on home plate and tries to keep celebrating! Lol!
JUSTICE was served...lol..I HATE the A's..glad we whooped up on them..
Did he catch that In the cup?
No one in the upper deck?
Well that was easy!
David should've stayed in Atlanta.
4-3, not 5-3.
Who are the broadcasters?
Jim Kaat and Ken Singleton
Nowthisispodracing thanks!
Smh... I was never a fan of Jason isringhausen
Robert Thompson Neither were Mets fans.
There's a reason why he was a better fit in the NL. Even then he was good but not great however.
