As a New Zealander, Wood was so underappreciated for years despite consistantly scoring 10+ goals for Burnley (who finished bottom half nearly every year). I'm completely overwhelmed with how well he's done since Nuno took over in December 2023 and he's getting the long over due appreciation while Forest are fighting for a Champions League spot. He's also now scored against every current Premier League club with his recent goal vs Liverpool (though his goal against Forest came in the Championship).
@@Mary-vs5od We'll be lucky to see another New Zealander consistantly score in the Premier League. Got to treasure every moment of what Wood's doing right now.

He actually received quite a bit of abuse when he first joined Forest, but those so called fans have been made to eat their words as he's proved them all wrong.
Not me. I knew he would come good, he was lacking match fitness and sharpness from the go. He was always a top quality prem striker, but nobody could have imagine how good he would become at Forest. So chuffed for him.
As a New Zealander everyone here loves just how well he's doing at forest but at a international level hes been frustrating. He seems to only gel and play well against teams like Samoa or Tonga but when we really need him to play well against better teams like Qatar or Australia he completely ghosts
What's more, he is able to represent his country even in the minor games. Flying all the way to NZ in the international breaks. Back in the UK he just plays and keeps scoring. Does he not suffer from jet leg?
@@tpc6236 New Zealand's most prominent basketball player has never played for the national team, and despite some early positive signs out of the Tall Blacks camp, that didn't change at the World Cup. I'm guessing there wasn't any money playing for the tall blacks.
Another thought - is he similar to Peter Crouch? He scored many goals for England. Like Sherringham one who graced older age with more goals and the most intelligent footballer in my view. Like Crouch, an oddity just good in the company of those who surrounded him. Is Nuno capitalising on an eccentric bunch who when together can outwit any team. Food for thought.
I wouldn't call Milenkovic, Murillo, Elanga, Hudson-Odoi, Morgan Gibbs White, Elliott Anderson, Matt Sels, eccentric. I'd say they're good footballers and Nuno is getting the best out of them.
Perhaps 'eccentric' is not quite the best word, especially when the word can be taken out of context of discussion trying to advance independent thought.. Perhaps 'varied' or 'diverse' might have been better. Regardless, the comparisions with talented yet eccentric footballers of the past - Kenny Burns, John Robertson, Nigel Clough (who couldnt run) Crouch and others is undeniable and worthy of discussion on good quality sites.
Also the most lethal striker in the league (by some margin) based on conversion rate. Haaland is not even in his league when it comes to converting shots.
bro awesome video, even got the pronunciation of Waikato pretty close , phonetically it would be" why-cut-tour ",waikato , did some great back history too
The thing most people dont realise about Forest is they improve players. Countless examples over 40 years. Alot is done by simply having good players around you. To be honest I don't even rate Wood that highly. I think he's like a Teddy Sherringham poacher style player. I might be wrong but thats the feeling I get.
Sheringham wasn't a poacher. He was more of a second striker who also had the attributes of target man. Highly technical & a good provider as well as scorer. Wood has decent technique but he's more of a traditional target man who also has the qualities of a poacher in terms of positioning & movement.

Ryan nelson said that we may never see a kiwi player doing this for years

As a fellow new Zealander, this makes me so happy that he is doing well 🎉
His finishing has improved a lot this year, plus he's being used in a way that makes best use of his qualities.
Nottingham Forest vs Bournmouth is def a match to watch on SUNDAY 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Lol true, it's a genuinely big game between 2 bang in form teams.
It's on Saturday.

Imagine how many good players languishing in the NZ leagues could be if they had the chance, there's a lot of talent in NZ

Wood is an absolute unit and a proper Barclay's man. He's hardworking, humble and supportive of his team.

Chris wood is the man! But wtf is that trim at 0:46 🤣☠️
Good summary, cheers!
Hes definitely the star of the new zealand team.
That's not saying match, New Zealand football. 🤣🤣

Went missing against Bournemouth though ! Up the Cherries !

Chris wood and Jamie vardy should play together🔥
No offense but those two playing together would make no sense. Vardy is way past his prime and isn't even that good enough for a striker anymore
Why? Wood's too good for Leicester & Vardy's not good enough for Forest.
I think Vardy replaced Wood at Leicester a year or so before they won the league.

That Benzema joke was cringe😅
Hilarious video!
Wood
Robin Wood is stealing goals.
He was poor at all his other clubs.
What a joke, Burnley? Consistent 10+ goals each season, even Leicester he was decent
