Love this light house , walked along the break water 2 and a half years ago, it’s was really windy and raining but amazing , I sometimes look on the Holyhead webcam to watch the skerries and this one flashing ❤

13:05 It's very cool to see how the keepers have worn grooves into the stair steps from years and years of climbing them!

Great video, information, content and stills. Agree your comment re state of the old light rotation mechanism on the breakwater light, must be rare, guess they usually ripped out and dumped when electric motor was installed, but in this case that stage got skipped. After lense removal for the new light with its own motor, just left the old lense support race and mechanism to decay as no need to remove, sad indeed.

Thank you lots, very much appreciated. Yes, sad to see, and also enjoyed by many in a Museum rather than left to rot. In the past, it wasn't unknown for lenses on some Lighthouses to be trashed or tipped over the cliffs. Trouble is costs and time always seem to win. Cheers and stay safe

Such a shame they’re automated now. I wonder how many lives were saved by a lighthouse keeper’s vigilance?
