Dear ThePondDigger, I am a goldfish enthusiast that started out watching your videos to learn how to build my own aquaponics pond. Now I watch because of your amazing teaching & communication skills! Keep it up!
Hi, I have been following your videos and I wanted to thank you....on behalf of a lot of us for teaching us all this :) Thanks and we really appreciate it
Is it necessary to pour concrete? I am planning a 7 by 5 with 4 feet deep koi pond and i will be watching all the videos again but could you make a tutorial about just the steps you want us to follow if we were making a smaller Koi pond......I think a lot of users end up making something smaller for the backyard ....Thanks
Pond Digger, I am installing a 3" bottom drain into a new pond . I am sloping the floor up about an 1" per foot toward the edge of pond wall. I will have a gravel bottom. What is the secret to keeping the gravel from ending up in the bottom drain?
So how did you dig down to install the vertical pipe that leads to the bottom drain. Obviously the horizontal sections you just dig a trench, but then the vertical section of the pipe just disappears into a hole at the bottom of the pond and reemerges closer to the surface. So how was that vertical hole dug out? With a drill? A vertical trench, refilled? Anyone has any tips I'd appreciate.
The purple is the primer. It cleans and softens the PVC to prep it for the fusion. The blue is the cement/glue that will bond the two together. Depending on the "schedule" (thickness of the pipe) and type of plastic (pvc, cpvc etc.) and sometimes temperature will determine the type of primer amd glue you will use. The colors are simply there as visual indicators that the joint was properly glued and primed when inspected later. The ponddigger is the best in the business. Love his videos!

Hi Mr Pond digger , is it necessary to put a concrete floor in if using a bottom drain and liner , I understand that the bottom drain should be concreted in , thankyou
ThePondDigger , I have dug down 800mm , I now intend to put shuttering up and put a concrete ring in 300x300mm , I will concrete my bottom drains in as you have on the video , will it be ok then to put a sand bed of 50mm in on top of soil inside the ring , the last of fairly good with silt
US Enginuity ..well it was actually the Egyptians 4000 BC that invented the polymer stone they made them pyramids of....also the concrete to bond it all - but i get your point Eric...simple tooling is the best way - why overdo it 2021
this is strange to me. here in OK we can dump dry bags of concrete and there is enough moisture in the soil to harden it. that dirt there is so dry it would still be powder 10 yrs later i think. california drought.. crazy.

Pond Digger,

Simple, Don't have a gravel bottom, also you will find that the gravel will trap and hold debris that you want to be flushed through the bottom drain
So how did you dig down to install the vertical pipe that leads to the bottom drain. Question what’s the reason behind using blue and purple glue together?
The purple is the primer. It cleans and softens the PVC to prep it for the fusion. The blue is the cement/glue that will bond the two together. Keith Horan Keith Horan Cool cool thanks I learn something every day 👍 one more ? The sequence is blue then purple right?
You're welcome :) The sequence is primer first then glue. In this case purple then blue.
